^^
He woke us at 8.24 am moving his lawn. Is that normal?
AIBU to think that’s too early? We’re three terraced houses so you can’t escape some noise but 8.24 on a bank holiday!?

He’s been annoying since they moved in so i think I’m just annoyed at him.

Yanbu! Sunday And BH
Weekdays are fair game.

Lawn shouldn't be mowed in the morning g but in the evening/late afternoon and watered so it doesn't go brown

fridaynight1 · 29/05/2023 10:37

8.30 think yourselves lucky. We had the bin men this morning at 6.30
Every. Single. Bank Holiday Monday.

FrostyFifi · 29/05/2023 10:35

CF would be if he woke you up to borrow your lawnmower. This wouldn't bother me.

He has done this shortly after moving in. I work from home and be knocked whilst I was in a meeting. I didn’t answer as was in the meeting so he just kept knocking. For 15 minutes.

Anything before 9am is not ok.

PatAndMat · 29/05/2023 10:40

7am is unreasonable.
8.24 am is not.
Its life with neighbours.

Maybe life with neighbours should be not to do noisy work early rather than having to put up with it?

Bobbielikespeas · 29/05/2023 10:46

You can always retaliate by doing some DIY against your wall at 12am 😬

drpet49 · 29/05/2023 10:48

Coffeeandcards · 29/05/2023 09:34

Yeah I do think that’s inconsiderate tbh.

Me too as it is a bank holiday

Yeah he sounds like a complete dickhead in this case.

I quite agree.
But a lot of people simply don’t care about others these days

We have builders in the farm next door who can’t start work till 7:30, they just rev their cars up arriving at 6:30 and spend an hour shouting and swearing across to each other before they can start crashing about with real gusto at 7:30
People just don’t care.

However, I still think 8:24 is not unreasonable for a lawnmower. With the dew on the grass it’ll be ruined anyway, that’s an afternoon job when it’s dried.

TeaParty4Me · 29/05/2023 10:51

Mikimoto · 29/05/2023 10:25

Apart from lawn mowing being quite a pleasant sound, who's going to still be sleeping at 0824h?!
A rando teenager who'll be wearing headphones anyway?

Loads of people.

Those who went out last night and didn’t get in until early hours of the morning.

People that work night shifts.

People who have young babies who’ve been up all night.

People that get up early every other day of the week and just want a lie in.

Summerdayz530 · 29/05/2023 10:52

I wouldn’t do before 10 on a weekend. And I don’t let my kids out before 9 and tell them to keep it quiet if I do. It wouldn’t personally bother me noise after 8am as I’m an early riser but appreciate not everyone is

@Hawkins0001 why intrigue?

In case someone says something against men??

8.30am IS a lie in. God there are some properly lazy folk on here.

Daffodilmorning · 29/05/2023 10:57

He sounds annoying in general but I anything after 8am is fine for cutting grass.

Yes, some people might be sleeping… but my toddler goes to bed at 7pm and I wouldn’t complain if the neighbours were making noise after that time. It’s just part of living in close proximity to other people 🤷‍♀️.

Stripedbag101 · 29/05/2023 10:59

I have a rule for myself - not before 10am or after 8pm to mow the lawn. Which reminds me I must go and do it now!!!!

but I spent time in Canada and it gets so hot there that most people now the lawn very early!!

Itsanotherhreatday · 29/05/2023 10:59

we never let the kids play out before 9am let alone now the lawn - I think it’s incredible rude!

Why should workers have a lie in and enjoy the peace on a Sunday or bank holiday? We have very few of those!

Badgeringabout · 29/05/2023 10:56

8:30 on BH is not a lie in for most people I know.

Itsanotherhreatday · 29/05/2023 11:01

We had one person jet washing dead early every day for a week -

I was putting the washing out and had a very loud conversation about getting no peace and ask DD to get dressed so she could study in the library instead - damn thing was switched off and it has happened since

TiredOfCleaning · 29/05/2023 11:01

I have a personal rule that nothing noisy happens before 9 am.

he sounds like a dick. I would almost prefer him to our neighbour who has reported us to environmental health for feeding birds in our own garden and who keeps shouting over the fence at my gardeners telling them how to prune my roses and what she thinks ought to be done with the hedge, but only almost.

Thesunnymood · 29/05/2023 11:02

German quite hours on some people here 😁 Bliss

TeaYarn · 29/05/2023 11:02

8:24????? I don’t see what the problem is.

FrostyFifi · 29/05/2023 11:04

15 minutes?!! Okay yes you do have yourself a CF then I'm afraid. You're probably more primed to be irritated by everything as a result which is understandable.

SkiingIsHeaven · 29/05/2023 11:04

8 is too early. 9 just about acceptable.

Jmaho · 29/05/2023 11:05

I think mowing the lawn at this time in the morning is inconsiderate
We are currently laying a composite deck and don't start anything until ten o clock
But people don't care there is a house at the back of us who allow their children in the garden from 7 in the morning and one of them screams at the top of their lungs constantly
We have four children and none of them are angels but if they made that sort of noise in the garden whatever time of day they'd be straight inside
