Ok I know I've spelt her surname wrong... but here we are. We all know who I'm talking about!

I just don't understand why social media has turned on her, almost blaiming her for allowing Phillip S antics to go on?

Why is she responsible for his actions????

And for those saying "she must've known"... maybe she didn't! Maybe she kept out of it or maybe she didn't know the full one and puts.
Why so she being Blaine's. Am I missing something??!

@GL123 they cant get rid of Ruth because of something her husband has said That would be unfair dismissal

Obviously but they will be desperate to and they can’t, that’s my point

Muncha · 31/05/2023 22:31

She has to go. Simple as that. No integrity left at all.

friendlycat · 31/05/2023 22:55

I think it’s all untenable. The whole show. It’s now tainted and that’s not what daytime tv shows are about. Advertisers, sponsors and guests won’t accept it.

There’s bound to be more revelations and each one will cut deeper. The lad in question could sell his story in the future for a fortune. Not saying he will, but that’s also hanging over the proceedings.

One can’t help but wonder why PS did such a full declaration of his lying to everyone at this juncture. Me thinks he tried to do some damage limitation of admittance at this stage before the whole sordid truth gradually comes out.

Sometimes others are tainted by association. Sometimes by negligence.
But however one is tainted by the fallout tainted one still is. I don’t know enough of HW’s strengths as a presenter, never having seen the programme, but I can’t see a future for the show full stop and definitely not with her still in post. But that doesn’t mean that her tv career is finished. She may well rise from the ashes of this debacle to continue her tv career with another channel and another tv format.

Having read various articles about TM it would appear that it had got stale anyway and now this is the nail in the coffin. But I don’t think some of the weighty bods of ITV are going to survive this fallout if and when more concrete proof transpires of potential grooming by their “star”.

Popcorn121 · 31/05/2023 23:00

It will come down to money, ITV will have to ditch the show because all sponsors/advertisers won’t pay for that association. I can’t see HW presenting again, not just because of the PS situation, but a lot of people/guests of TM that have met her are now falling over themselves to tell the media how rude and crap at her job she is.

Frenulumetta · 31/05/2023 23:05

Bit like Charles and di, why was noone morally outraged then? She was 19 when she married and he met her when she was underage cos he was shagging/dating her older sister ewww

GoOnHoliday · 31/05/2023 23:39

For context this video claims that a make-up artist said Holly goes around staring at the wall in corridors.

In the X factor clip you get a full visual.

@RedToothBrush Save your frothing at the mouth and read the post properly. I don't disagree that ITV showed due negligence, I'm asking you what you think Holly should have done about it bearing in mind the boy was supposedly 18 (an adult) when their affair started.
What should Holly have done? not asking you about the ITV bosses.

How unnecessarily unpleasant and also inaccurate. Project much?

What should Holly have done? Well, certainly at the very least she should not have lied and said she did not know PS was having an affair with a young and vulnerable staff member when it is clear that she did.

Even Joan Collins knew!

Phillip Schofield Runner - The Latest About His Personal Assistant - Lime Goss

SequinsandStilettos · 01/06/2023 04:42

Unless the runner at any point states clearly and categorically they are a gerontophile, and the relationship was no-one's business, then I will always struggle with the 34 year age-gap.

In my line of work, had I had knowledge of boundaries being crossed, I would have to report to senior management. Holly allowed herself to be used by said management, to conspire and collude in the deflection/arse-covering/get ahead of the story. Protecting the brand. As soon as she did that, she became complicit.

Do I like kiss and tells? No, but if that is what the runner wanted to do at the time, that was their right. To be paid off/sent away/slapped with an NDA etc
is another abuse of power. I hope the young man in question does get to tell his side at some point and claims damages.

This.

NDAs should be banned. They are coercive. They prevent scandals being uncovered. They are only available to the rich and to large institutions. They fundamentally encapsulate the concept of abuse of power.

What could Holly do?

It makes Holly sound like she's a simpering idiot with absolutely no influence or power of her own. With no capacity to do anything else.

Holly is married to a man with considerable influence of his own.

She stuck with This Morning. That's a free choice.

The awards saw The Runner going to them. That alone is weird. Someone arranged/authorised that.

People have the capacity to ask why. People should.

If nothing else Holly should have voted with her feet rather than gluing herself to Schofield.

And that sentiment is going to stick with a lot of people and that's why I find it hard to imagine This Morning has much life left in it. The advertisers will kill it.

Inkanta · 01/06/2023 09:02

Well I thought he might be early doors but not so sure now. Seems ineffectual to me in terms of guiding or protecting Holly.

GoOnHoliday · 01/06/2023 09:58

Good at making money not much else.

Wheresthebeach · 01/06/2023 13:13

She chose to stay, and promote herself as his bestie, because it suited her. It didn't suit her to take a stand to protect a vulnerable junior member of staff.

When it came to it - she gave an ultimatum and won. She could have done that earlier...she could have distanced herself from her close friendship and kept it much more professional. She was happy to milk the partnership for all it was worth despite what everyone knew was going on.

She's not responsible for PS behaviour, but she is responsible for helping to enable him and support him, and promote him as brave. That's why she's tarnished.

porridgeisbae · 01/06/2023 22:00

I just got round to watching the Eamonn interview.

One bit I thought was interesting.

Eamonn said something like 'the young man wasn't happy'

'he needed a lot of money...I don't know why.'

Meltinthemiddle · 01/06/2023 23:11

Phil has done an interview, he says Holly is no longer speaking to him and she distanced herself from him after his brother's sentencing.

Remembersweetvalleyhighbooks · 01/06/2023 23:15

Do you have a link please?

porridgeisbae · 02/06/2023 00:36

I'm quite concerned for him to be honest. He does look drawn and some people in this sort of situation would crack.

But I suppose he has a lot of money and in a way that could be a buffer that helps him get by until he finds a new role/direction.

porridgeisbae · 02/06/2023 00:38

A psychological as well as a financial buffer/float I mean. Whatever happens, unless maybe he snorts all his money or something, he'll get by.

Treesandsheepeverywhere · 02/06/2023 07:40

Of course she distanced herself. The first rumours of her being upset about not being told about the trial were true.
The relationship details only came after she'd started distancing herself.
Then chose to make a statement about being lied to when in fact she'd already made up her mind over something else.
There was a story about how she treated Peter Jones but seems to have been pulled or at least relegated to the bottom.

lollipoprainbow · 02/06/2023 08:01

So much for her being by his side forever.

Remembersweetvalleyhighbooks · 02/06/2023 08:22

@Treesandsheepeverywhere A story about Peter Jones where?

Flunkey · 02/06/2023 08:56

I think we should leave them alone now. Let PS get the private support he needs to work through his actions.

I don't think ripping into HW is helpful. Tearing her apart for something PS did and speculating over if she enabled it is unfair. Imagine taking the blame for your work colleague having an affair. 😳 People do deny affairs that's the nature of them. I bet she is distraught. She has lost what she considered a good friend and colleague. That will hurt a lot. Then to be demonised and blamed for his actions is another thing.

benfoldsfivefan · 02/06/2023 09:30

She's St Holly the Mother Superior of the Blind Eye Convent of Holly,* *says Jan Moir in the DM, which I thought was accurate.
