Ok I know I've spelt her surname wrong... but here we are. We all know who I'm talking about!

I just don't understand why social media has turned on her, almost blaiming her for allowing Phillip S antics to go on?

Why is she responsible for his actions????

And for those saying "she must've known"... maybe she didn't! Maybe she kept out of it or maybe she didn't know the full one and puts.
Why so she being Blaine's. Am I missing something??!

It is the age old story of a conveniently high profile woman taking flak for the behaviour of a man she worked with but had no authority over.

She asked him, he lied, complaints were made to ITV bosses and they punished the complainers by removing them from the show. Same old story, and same old way of the media dealing with it - attack those around the perpetrator rather than those that had both the knowledge and power to stop him but didn't.

Schofield is ultimately responsible for his own behaviour, but his bosses need to take their share of the blame for not dealing with it. Co-workers who were clearly concerned and raised it with Schofield and/or the bosses shouldn't be in the firing line at all.

LindorDoubleChoc · 28/05/2023 09:03

No, she's not taking flak over PS's behaviour. She is being questioned over her own behaviour.

GL123 · 28/05/2023 09:06

I listened to Holly’s episode on the Happy Place podcast with Fearne cotton last year (it was from 2021) and Fearne asked her about fame etc. She said her family was her real life and she always thinks if it all ends tomorrow at least she would still have them, she’d shut the front door and she’d be fine with her ‘real life’. I did think at the time, especially being on so many shows and having all these different jobs, that it seemed an odd thing to say when surely there was no chance of it all ending tomorrow 🤔 Now here we are 🤦🏼‍♀️

anotherside · 28/05/2023 09:08

Macron was a 15 year old and his wife was 40 years old when they met. Most people seem to think she is great and that their relationship is wonderful. Should we send an arrest warrant out?

FourFoxSake · 28/05/2023 09:08

I'm all for women not taking the flack for men's behaviour.

But I am also for women not being infantalised. HW was not a poor, helpless woman who just had to swallow lies and smile. She (and her husband) hold a huge amount of power in the industry.

She's also not an idiot. If everyone and his dog knew PS had groomed that boy, including all of mn, then she knew - or she chose not to know.

Whatever she did (or didn't do) - she chose to do.

Wombastic · 28/05/2023 09:10

We’ve all had dodgy colleagues, some people complain and nothing happens, some say nothing. It seems ps was protected so very possibly people would think complaining was pointless. From what I can see.

We have come a long way from my youth when young girls would regularly get given alcohol and hit on by much older, more powerful men. If they weren’t strong enough to escape they would get called whores and their reputation be ruined.

As an aside I don’t know that meeting someone at 15 counts for anything. I have thousands of people on SM. I’ve met thousands of people. It means nothing. The part that matters is how old he was when they started flirting/ talking dirty.

FancyFanny · 28/05/2023 09:11

I really can't get bothered or see what all the fuss is about. So what if PS had an affair with a younger man? I bet this young man was having the time of his life! He wasn't a child, there's no evidence of grooming- just because he first contacted PS when he was 15 doesn't mean he was groomed. He didn't start working at ITV until he was over 18 and the affair began some time after this. Plenty of TV personalities have affairs- so what?

Wheresthebeach · 28/05/2023 09:13

Everyone knew. It’s disingenuous to pretend otherwise. Every online forum has been discussing it for years. Senior people need to be fired - they turned a blind eye. So did Holly - she will be damaged, as any half of a double act would be. She chose to stay and support his ‘brave’ coming out

Whatthediddlyfeck · 28/05/2023 09:13

NoTouch · 27/05/2023 21:24

No respect for holly, dermot or alison all publically playing tribute to him or thanking him when he has behaved terribly, sacked in disgrace, they would have all known the rumours had been there for years . They would have shown more character saying nothing about him and just getting on with the show.

from the clips I’ve seen I don’t for a second think that was their own tribute or that they had been anything other than instructed to say it

Give over. Everyone suspected. No one knew. And what rhe fuck do you want his employer to do with no evidence and strong denial from both of them, fire him because of strong suspicion, that’s not how employment law works. He’d have sued them every which way.

you cannot fire someone without any evidence of wrong Doing based on suspicion, rumour and online forums. And if both parties strenuously deny on investigation. Itv would be unable to act.

WimbyAce · 28/05/2023 09:19

All those saying he has done nothing wrong.....for me it speaks volumes that his best friend Holly asked him about it and he lied. Why would he lie if it was all above board? Also there are rumours that he would contact under 16s on social media, doesn't sound good does it? I'm surprised so many are willing to turn a blind eye after we have seen the Rolf Harris, Jimmy Saville incidents. It needs investigating if nothing else not just sweeping under the carpet.

Butchyrestingface · 28/05/2023 09:21

If HW "knew" about it (as opposed to just believed his denials), then so do must his bosses at ITV, his lawyer, his agent, his wife, his kids and so on.

She won't be the first person to believe a tissue of lies because 1) the liar is convincing and manipulative and 2) it's convenient for her to believe it.

But, as we all know, anyone with XX chromosomes is held to higher account than the MAN who committed the actual offence.

Wheresthebeach · 28/05/2023 09:23

@backtothegym Well I think that’s bollocks. Asking them doesn’t count as an investigation. Look at social media, diaries, receipts etc and the picture would have been clear. Then I’m would have been discussions about ‘appropriate’ behaviour etc etc. HR knows how to handle this sort of stuff - it’s their job. But there has to be the will, not a culture of ‘protect our asset’

You should probably be asking PS this question. He was the one, by his own admission, who felt the need to lie about his affair to just about everyone in his professional and personal life.

I agree. If you’re close friends, and he hides it and they meet in secret and his partner also denies it, then I’ve no fucking idea why people think holly should have quit or publicly accused her friend and colleague based on suspicion and his employer should have just fired him with no evidence.

philip Schofield is to blame and only him. Not holly or his employer . People need to stop trying to find others to blame for him. It’s not hollys fault.

anotherside · 28/05/2023 09:26

But this is a presenter of Morning Television. He’s supposed to be a model citizen whose perennial cheerfulness and bubbly, optimistic demeanour gives us something to aspire to as we ready for the drudgery of the day. As such it is far more news worthy than the Russia-Ukraine war, the fact that Trump is gearing up for the WhiteHouse again, Xi’s eyes on Taiwan, climate meltdown etc.

Remembersweetvalleyhighbooks · 28/05/2023 09:27

Why are so many people being so blasé and calling this an *Affair?! There’s much more to this, he was a vulnerable, impressionable boy, clearly used by P.S, wrong on so many levels.

DozyDelia · 28/05/2023 09:29

why does anyone even care about these two?

Never watched daytime telly ever, let alone these two.

anotherside · 28/05/2023 09:29

@Butchyrestingface

i expect he knows that this country is effectively populated by tabloid trash and populated by moral shitckickers, and that therefore revealing his relationship with a young man would cost him his job. It’s not quite an Agatha Christie level mystery.

FancyFanny · 28/05/2023 09:32

Of course PS lied about the affair- otherwise it wouldn't be an affair! He was married, he was in the closet, there was a significant age gap- WTF? It's not difficult to see what he lied and tried to cover it up.

SquaresandStarlings · 28/05/2023 09:32

PS.was originally asked by a friend of his and his wife to give a talk at a theatre school she ran. This young man was then a 15 year old who attended the school, and was also a relative of the lady who ran it.

He approached PS at the time and asked if he could help him get a job working in TV. When he was 18 PS got him an interview at This Morning.

It's all a bit unsavoury but not a sackable offence. I just think the cumulative effect of this story surfacing before, PS then suddenly coming out afterwards and then his brother being convicted was all too much for a daily daytime TV show to withstand.

fact that this story originally surfaced

Butchyrestingface · 28/05/2023 09:35

Don't buy that. There are out gay people in the public eye with successful careers. PS himself came out to huge acclaim about his 'bravery'. The fact he'd cheated on his wife of umpteen years was swept under the carpet so he knew dishonourable behaviour would not necessarily cost him anything.

I suppose we'll find out more in due course about this relationship.

FancyFanny · 28/05/2023 09:36

And since when did TV presenters become the role models that we should aspire to be like? Who decided? They don't have responsibility for that- they are just there to entertain and chosen for their ability to present the programme and their on screen presence.

Cam22 · 28/05/2023 09:39

I cannot abide morning tv and the twittering and giggling of presenters like P and H makes me want to scream. I don’t care what happens to their so-called careers.

Swrigh1234 · 28/05/2023 09:45

She knew, did nothing. And then concocted this act that she was outraged and didn’t like him these last few months, when she saw his popularity tumble.

And she’s a crap presenter to boot.
