If you could live anywhere in Scotland...?

Inspired by the similar thread for England, if you could live anywhere in Scotland where would you live? We are currently in the north of England but I'm originally from Scotland and would love to move back when we retire. Absolutely love the West coast and spent a lot of holidays there. But where should we be considering? Don't mind being a bit remote as long as we are a drive away from a city.

Ullapool for me.

Dh's favourite place in the whole world is Applecross though

Reading this thread makes me want to head to Scotland immediately. I haven't been for too long.

Slightly north of Ullapool. Since I was a kid I have had a soft spot for Buckie and Cullen though.

I’m currently eyeing up a place in Durness

Currently listening to the birds sing in my Edinburgh garden flat. I'm in the New Town, a 10 minute walk from the city centre.

I'm in broughty ferry too and love living here - right beside small city, beach on doorstep, hills a half hour drive away, good schools etc. But would love to live east neuk.

Anywhere rural, with hills and woods. Ideally very few people nearby, too.

We're house hunting in Scotland at the moment, and are hoping to get something that fits the above.

I lived in Glasgow for Uni and loved it, but the weather was pretty awful. So much rain. If you don't mind that though, it's a fantastic city.

Yeah we ruled out Applecross for that reason. Scary road.

Glencoe. I’d be quite happy in a James Bond inspired Skyfall house.

Aberdeenshire is beautiful,lovely towns & villages, close to a major city, great quality of life

I'm visiting North Berwick for the first time tomorrow, really looking forward to it.

I'd love to stay in a huge sandstone villa in leafy Pollokshields. Such a gorgeous area with wide tree lined streets and some beautiful parks.

Another one in West Lothian. Not sure where I'd like to live though... love Blair atholl

Amazing. It's my happy place.

Always amuses me that the actual house in the film was on a set in Surrey heathland. Not quite the same.

I am lucky enough to have a home in the East Neuk but North Berwick was a contender.

So many lovely places in Scotland. I love the Dornoch and Brora area too.

East Kilbride just for their glorious roundabouts.

Great place to live work in inverness and back home in the countryside by dinnertime.
The rest of the highlands with all its mountains and beaches within a day trip.
I did move back to the city for a few years but came back.
My kids have had a childhood of playing outside and roaming in a way we just couldn't if we hadn't come back.

I live near there.
