@Sissynova , it isn't uncommon to publish the names of people being investigated for crimes, is it? In any case, Luna was recorded committing Luna's crime.

Luna. It's a bloody dog's name!🤣

I know a Luna IRL.

booksandbrooks · 13/05/2023 13:43

Born before Harry Potter was published btw Grin

To all those saying the article is unnecessary, I say - do you want such people in women’s spaces, with access to vulnerable girls and women?

It is necessary to demonstrate the rampant aggression, violence and misogyny in the self-ID community.

The original video alone did that. This article is an unnecessary hit job intended only to stir, and has no legitimate purpose.

There was enough information already- we don't need to know this person's name (from which is it probably possible to find their address). The fact that women are subjected to doxxing all the time is neither here nor there. Knowing this person's name will not protect anyone.

Luna has already been sacked and will probably find it hard to get another job. Unless they are headhunted by a trans-related organisation perhaps. I don't feel any sympathy for violent men, but nor do I think that doing anything to escalate the situation is good or responsible behaviour.

Showing the video is fine but there is nothing gained by outing Luna's name at this point. It will only encourage amateur sleuths to try and "solve" the case.

If Luna was charged or convicted then at that point it's normal to announce a name.

If there is a crime where there is CCTV evidence then I only see the suspect's name mentioned if they are charged or the police can't find them. The police are still investigating this and it doesn't help.

Indeed

OhComeOnFFS · 13/05/2023 13:44

I agree that Luna's name should've been kept out of the newspaper. There are some people who are transphobic who can cause Luna harm. (Those people are not the middle-aged women she hates, though.) Doxxing shouldn't be rejected by women - we know how awful that can be.

My first thought was that the name Luna had been chosen because of Luna Lovegood in Harry Potter...

7Worfs · 13/05/2023 13:45

QueenoftheNimbleFlyingCat · 13/05/2023 13:41

No, of course I don't but the original video widely circulated evidenced our concerns around TRA aggression. We don't need to name and shame them in the media as well. Anyone who thinks this is okay needs to really take a look at themselves, we would quite rightly be outraged if this was a GC woman being castigated by the media.

GC women don’t threaten and attack people in public. It’s crazy to draw parallels.

Luna needs to learn a lesson about consequences, and maybe others will take note too.

Alwaystheweather · 13/05/2023 13:45

Having read the article, the public interest angle is presumably because Luna is an outspoken TRA which means their behaviour was part of that public activism ( rather than someone losing it over a minor irrelevance as they have had a bad day).

BigglyBee · 13/05/2023 13:45

cakeorwine · 13/05/2023 13:38

Clearly both sides engage in such behaviour

I doubt the Mail is doing this because of it's genuinely-held Gender Critical beliefs, somehow!

LightlySearedontheRealityGrill · 13/05/2023 13:46

Are people so sympathetic towards all the women who have lost their careers and businesses, who were cheated out of sporting awards, who were threatened, whose children were targeted, whose homes were visited? The women who have been raped in prisons by males, the children and young people who health has been irrevocably destroyed? I have zero sympathy these gender bullies and the more exposure they get, the more we see them for what they are, the better. This evil thrives in the dark.

The consequences will be the correct legal process.

Having your parents and home address tracked down and an article in the national press about the above and about your life is not an appropriate consequence.

You don't have to have sympathy for this person to be able to respect correct legal process and to understand that doxxing and trial by media is wrong.

Given a different birth name, chose Luna, almost certainly after HP was published, according to that article. Wonder what they think of JK Rowling?

Of course real women don’t get this level of sympathy. The attitude of women on this forum is astounding. All this faux outrage that an abusive misogynist’s name has been outed. But wouldn’t be so bothered about all the real women who have had their lives destroyed by the misogyny of TRAs.

Well done. Talk about gun, foot, clean shot.

I don’t disagree with what you say - in a fair and just society this person will be penalised appropriately to discourage such behaviour.

But this is not a fair and just society. People (some more than others) are profoundly disillusioned, and when someone awful gets their just deserts on occasion… well, one can’t muster too much compassion.

I honestly despair, this is NOT a proportionate response at all - having a national newspaper basically announce your address and your parents address (they will be easily tracked down) is not okay, I'm not entirely sure what planet you are on to think this is okay?

This is a human being and although I completely disagree with their worldview I do think they should be protected from harassment and potential violence from actual transphobic individuals (not GC women) who have been whipped up into a frenzy and given details that should not have been published.

PunishmentRoundupWithJoon · 13/05/2023 13:55

GC = Gender Critical

thirdfiddle · 13/05/2023 13:55

Confused. Why is everyone in this thread and the article 'she'-ing Luna? I thought Luna was a) male, and b) loudly and aggressively a 'they/them'. Aren't they the person with the earrings that everyone fails to notice read THEY/THEM and wonders why wearing dangly geometric earrings are supposed to code NB? Or do they just look similar?

To refer to a vocal and locally well known campaigner by name when they have been recorded committing a crime in the name of their activism? I'm not convinced that's all that shocking, though don't read the mail enough to know what their crime reporting usually looks like. Not like any actual transphobes in Luna's neighbourhood are going to fail to notice they're trans. You can't 'pass' as NB if you wanted to.

Lifeomars · 13/05/2023 13:56

Ah, that source of fine investigative journalism, that bastion of unbiased and fair reporting, the Mail, the paper that does such rigorous research that it was quoting a Twitter parody account (SIr Michael Take MP) as fact. They even backed facism back in the 30's with their notorious headline "hurrah for the blackshirts", best not to rely on them for truth, honesty or fairness, but they are going full tilt into the coinfected culture wars. If this incident is going to result in criminal charges and a court case they need to be treading very carefully

This is completely disingenuous, I am GC and deeply care about women and girls rights but I don't agree with doxxing from either side.

This person behaved poorly but they weren't raping and pillaging for goodness sake, I'm pleased the original video gave sunlight to their aggression but what purpose did this article serve?

Outofthepark · 13/05/2023 13:58

PhyllisFogg · 13/05/2023 13:31

I admit I watched the video.
The manager actually attacked the women's husband. It shows a scuffle as Luna grabbed his phone and refused to give it back. I felt quite sick watching this unwarranted attack. I felt very sorry for the customer because Luna was much taller than she was and being physically aggressive.

Why admit, what's wrong with watching it? You need to, to post an opinion about it!

Luna was really aggressive and presumably that was a police matter when she attacked the person filming. Totally ridiculous situation all round.

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 13/05/2023 14:00
