What does GC stand for please?

nojudgementhere · 13/05/2023 13:30

I completely agree with earlier comments that Luna's name should not have been made public. It's irresponsible and has been blown out of all proportion. We've also only been given one side of the story. This bullying is repulsive and people seem to forget that this is a real live human being who will no doubt be suffering now they've been thrown into the spotlight. I really hope she's ok.

cakeorwine · 13/05/2023 13:30

Clearly the Daily Mail couldn't give a shit about the consequences of their journalism.

Trans people mean nothing to them except for click bait and to generate hate.

Remember Lucy Meadows?

I don't think there is any need to hound this woman. She's been sacked. She may or may not be prosecuted. That's enough punishment. Shame on the DM.

PhyllisFogg · 13/05/2023 13:31

I admit I watched the video.
The manager actually attacked the women's husband. It shows a scuffle as Luna grabbed his phone and refused to give it back. I felt quite sick watching this unwarranted attack. I felt very sorry for the customer because Luna was much taller than she was and being physically aggressive.

viques · 13/05/2023 13:31

VickyEadieofThigh · 13/05/2023 12:47

I thought the manager ("Luna") was a transwoman and the non-binary employee was a woman who another employee who was upset about being called a "lady" because of identifying as non-binary.

Quite how anyone is meant to know what is in a stranger's head before referring to them is beyond me. But here we are.

The other employee has wisely kept themselves very much out of the story. I get the feeling that if they were as passionate about mis gendering as Luna was on their behalf then they might have spoken out, or maybe they quite rightly think it is no one’s business but theirs and they will fight their own battles when and where they choose to .

To wind people up no doubt.

The entire existence of that article is designed to wind people up.

The manager behaved appallingly, the manager was fired and is rightly being investigated by the police. No need to start winding people up further by digging up dirt and character assassination.

People behave poorly all the time, the disproportionate response to this 1 incident actually does stink of transphobia. Like I said, I'm GC, but this is a witch hunt and irresponsible of the daily mail.

Yes I agree with this. The situation has been resolved , what's to gain from publicising her identity? GC here as well but this feels nasty.

PonyPatter44 · 13/05/2023 13:32

WheelsUp · 13/05/2023 13:28

The woman says she just wanted to pay by cash but in the video is asking for a refund - clearly there’s more to it than the video shows

She paid by card but would have preferred not to as she doesn't want to leave a digital footprint of where she spends her money which isn't an unusual opinion to have.

Doesn't want to leave a "digital footprint ", sells video of a row in a coffee shop to a national newspaper. Yeah right.

This is one of those stories where literally everyone is stupid.

BelleMarionette · 13/05/2023 13:32

Clearly unacceptable behaviour, but it's up to Starbucks and the police to deal with. The media publicly shaming this person is not acceptable, and does imply transphobia. I'm not sure what the purpose of this thread is either, other than to further shame them.

PhyllisFogg · 13/05/2023 13:33

GC?

I'm GC as well, and I think this is ridiculous. Doxxing is what they do, not what we do.

Agree with this, and the paper appears to have tried to speak to Luna's neighbours and parents.

This is not OK.

cakeorwine · 13/05/2023 13:35

I can just see the Daily Mail journalists knocking on neighbour's doors and trying to get a story. Then selectively quoting what some of have said just to create a story and generate clicks.

CherryCokeFanatic · 13/05/2023 13:36

Awful behaviour on this forum egging on doxxing by the media

Only one appears to be actually violent though.

I agree, it definitely disproportionate and there is something in that.

I think a nationwide trial by media is just not a route we should go down.
It’s low grade journalism at best and dangerous at worse.

7Worfs · 13/05/2023 13:38

To all those saying the article is unnecessary, I say - do you want such people in women’s spaces, with access to vulnerable girls and women?

It is necessary to demonstrate the rampant aggression, violence and misogyny in the self-ID community.

Clearly both sides engage in such behaviour

literalviolence · 13/05/2023 13:40

HRTQueen · 13/05/2023 13:29

This has been blown completely out of proportion

There are incidents every day of people kicking off and being unreasonable

this incident should not be bought into the debate around self id it’s just people arguing and then others saying well you see what they are like

its like a witch hunt I’ve reported it to mn

I disagree about the self-ID comment. This exemplifies some of the issues mainly the poorly thought through attempts to change pronouns from sex to gender based and the violence which TRAs feel justified to use when people do not conform to their world view. Luna felt justified in assaulting two people clearly not matched with Luna's male body because of this ideology. It is not uncommon to name people accused of crimes. I guess Luna may be prosecuted for ABH? I hope so because there is a precedent set at the moment with people getting away with assaults when they are committed in the name of trans ideolog. That's misogyny.

I don’t want this individual to be hounded by the press or by the public in general because their name and photo and possibly identifying information about where they and their parents live has been published.

that’s not unreasonable. Regardless of your thoughts on TRAs.

No, of course I don't but the original video widely circulated evidenced our concerns around TRA aggression. We don't need to name and shame them in the media as well. Anyone who thinks this is okay needs to really take a look at themselves, we would quite rightly be outraged if this was a GC woman being castigated by the media.

Yes some of the details are disproportionate and feel uncomfortable. That does not mean this is not very newsworthy and Luna should not expect Luna's identity to be hidden.
