At asking a fellow mner to change their name..?

See we both have very similar names....

I have been around for 3-4 years and have built up a bit of a good rapor etc with fellow mner's.

There is a new(ish..?) mner with a similar name and already there is evidence of confussion..ie others leaving feedback for me but spelling it the way of the other mn iykwim...

I have pointed this out (nicely) to the other mn and have had negative replies iykwim..

Just thought it would be easier for everyone if we had differences to tell us apart as im sure she doesn't want to be mixed up as me and vice versa..???

But then again, neither is she in not wanting to change her name.

If you have asked and been denied, I doubt there is much more that you can do, other than change your name... how about TheOriginalShhh?

You could stick a number 1 after your name, then everyone will know that you were here first

there was a mner with a very similar name to me. she was new and I asked her and she changed it.

All you can do is ask.
If they refuse, then I suppose you may have to change your name to avoid confusion.
It's rather churlish of them though, if you were here first.

Yes, YABU. She wasn't to know her nickname was similar to yours. You should change your nickname. Or add something to the beginning or end of it

eg

"Iwasherefirstshhhh"

Depends how new she is really I think.... If she's been here a few weeks I think it's a bit mean of her not to, if it's long enough for her to build up her own profile you can see why she wouldn't.
I agree with Squonk. If you do that then everyone who knows you will know it's you.

It's understandable - I was so narked at all the different money related names that I changed my name!

And that's all you can do.

You asked, she said no, so it's up to you to change if it bothers you.

Although now I want to know what she said to you!

I don't think you are wrong to ask, though there is nothing to stop her continuing to use it. There is also a Miao on here and though I haven't said anything, I would do if people started to mix us up (however she hasn't posted for over a year so either she changed her name or she's not here any more!)

If she still refuses to change her name, then all I can suggest is that you monitor how often you are mixed up, and make it clear you are not the same people.

I am nosey so had a peek at the feedback thread. I am even more nosey so I did a little search on the other poster's name. It only came back with 21 messages, all very recent. So unless I am missing something, YANBU and it's a little bit mean of her not to change.

I had a peek too, I think she's being unreasonable. But you can't force her to change and TheOriginalShhhh is cool.

flowerybeanbag...thats exactly what I found although she has told me she's been here months . Its just with all this stuff going on with the sale/wanted threads atm Im a little concerned that we can be mixed up iykwim.....

Well im not against changing my name BUT wanted to give her the option which although she hasn't said anything very bad iykwim its negative in such a way as.." well I don't see how we can be mixed up" or "you are annoying me" JUST because I posted the same messages on several of her threads to make her and others aware ..Im NOT being vindictive although feel this is what is thought by the other mner...

I want a different name totally BUT feel noone will know who it is.!! So.............shhhhtheoriginal...? or theoriginalshhhh..? Any other offers..? .
