I feel sick watching king charles

I don't want him as king. I feel sick watching a bit of the coronation this morning. I just caught a bit of it and I felt ill.

We are not subjects. It's 2023.
I don't want to be like an animal with an owner
I don't like the man. He has had so many scandals and bad friends. Why should he be allowed to rule over us.
This stuff shouldn't be going on in 2023.

Anyone think the same?

I don't get people saying it's all outdated. Today is a celebration, it's not a typical day. He doesn't really rule over us. The music and singers are all very talented and it's lovely to see children involved in the choirs so it's a lot of people coming together and celebrating. How is that outdated? We're talking about it online and watching it on tv which is pretty modern. When people say they want a head of state and something more modern- perhaps you could suggest someone that you would like to be put forward for head of state, perhaps someone off Facebook or tiktok or Instagram, perhaps that would be seen as being much more modern to those who think it's all outdated

for the money's it's costing it better be hey!

You were still in ireland few days ago. That is a very sudden and convenient move

I'm still laughing at this.

Like being in Ireland a couple of days ago means I can't be in the UK today.

Its a forty minute flight to the UK. I know people who fly from Ireland to the UK every week for work.

@QueenMegan

I actually forgot to watch.
I respected the Queen as I would any hard working lady. He is a grumpy selfish opinionated old bastard. Not king material at all. Very fitting weather. He'll hate that.

YAWWWN Wink

You - along with a bunch of other people on here today, sure are talking a LOT about the Coronation, and the Royal family, for people who are totally, absolutely not remotely interested whatsoever. 😂

Yes surely if they weren’t interested in it they be too busy putting up shelves or taking the dog for a walk to be on MN talking about the very thing they have no interest in.

If this is the case then the initial post is baffling…

It isn’t even a Commonwealth member.

No I'm English.

I can’t be bothered with any of them so am not watching. I (hypocritically) quite like a royal wedding though.

We don't have to go through your posts to search. You are THAT memorable

And you are not in the slightest bit memorable. Try to work on that.

I caught a small bit of there as I walked through the living room.

Camilla looked terrified.

Yeah keep repeating that

Republicans would rather see Boris being dragged through London in a golden cart.

LetsPlayShadowlands · 06/05/2023 13:11

I agree with you OP.

Manichean · 06/05/2023 13:13

He is both an adulterer and head of the Church of England. How does that work?

Mooshamoo · 06/05/2023 13:13

Christ it goes on a long time doesn't it. My aunt is watching it. So I'm hearing a bit of it. Might go out for another walk

I agree with you. Can't stand it. I haven't watched any, but seeing the kid (don't know his name - William's boy) dressed in that regalia, knowing that he will also one day be crowned. It makes you want to vomit. All the family (people we've never heard of many of them) gathered in the cathedral, many of them living off the fat of the land in grace and favour homes. Horrible. And all overlayed with the "glamour" of pomp and ceremony.

You're right. It's outdated.

Can't stand it, but haven't watched any of it. All the LOLz. Do you realise how dumb this sounds? Your post is pathetic from start to finish. Get a grip. You're embarrassing yourself.

She did, she has never been fussed on the pomp and ceremony but loves her husband. She understands the duty that comes along with that, but I can imagine its hugely overwhelming and quite terrifying.

I enjoyed the ceremony though, I respect people's opinions whatever they are about the royals, I support them though.

Same

Manichean · 06/05/2023 13:13

@Manichean this is exactly my issue. I think it would have been better to have called it a day and passed the baton to William.

The monarchy is a fucking joke.

Just a massive propaganda machine.

Their deal the media, is the only thing that keeps them relevant.

Riding round in a gold carriage when people can't turn their fucking heating on. It's sickening.

It’s refreshing to see this post, gives me hope that some people in this country still actually use their brains.

grumpy old man with a golden crown on his head , riding in a golden carriage and “loyal subjects” celebrating. You couldn’t make it up

Oh, so you are conveniently at your AUNT'S house now??? Just conveniently watching and listening to the Coronation, even though you have fuck-all interest in it? Your posts get more batshit by the minute! 😆

I have spent the morning until now doing household chores. So far haven't even heard anything about the coronation. One is allowed to take a lunch break is one not? And I spotted this brilliant thread. Why did you click on this thread if you don't agree with it? Surely you could be watching endless TV features on boring "flawless" Kate, ever increasingly creepy-looking William, sex-sleaze Andrew, ex royal mistress Camilla and the rest of the thieving, entitled, greedy bunch.

Henry VIII created the Church of England and he was a serial adulterer who didn't even try to hide it.

I know. It's just so weird to think you're living in a country that does this. Just...batshit (to use the common MN phrase)

See this is the narrative I hate, people who dislike the monarchy are using their brains, everyone else evidently not.

Robinni · 06/05/2023 13:20

Can everyone stop jumping on @Mooshamoo about their specific location. Could be staying with Aunt until finds own accom post sale of house. Seems logical.

In any event it doesn’t really matter, there are a lot of British people who do feel uncomfortable with Charles for a number of reasons to varying degrees.

Having the thread gives the opportunity to discuss.
