Yes, I was in Morrisons and lots of phones were bleeping! I actually thought it was a bit quiet

Nothing at all for me. I've just checked and everything is turned on so it should have come through. I was watching TV on my phone at 3pm and have just seen someone on fb post that they didn't get an alert as they were playing a game at the time. Surely it should interrupt those things? Wondering if that's the reason why I didn't get anything?

Not on Three btw.

It was broadcast on the 4G and 5G networks only, is your phone on these networks?

Quent · 23/04/2023 16:18

Yes, I got the alarm and the message. I was in a shop and it seemed like most people did, though some were delayed by 1-2 minutes.

JenniferBooth · 23/04/2023 16:22

I wouldnt put it past this inept Government to have phones going off at 3AM tomorrow morning.

cantkeepawayforever · 23/04/2023 16:09

@ThinWomansBrain maybe they think that us cheapskates on mobile packages deserve nothing better????

seems a common problem for three network (that ID piggybacks on to) - there's a long thread on twitter account for ThreeUK, so not just the sane ones of us that don't pay full price

It concerns me a little that this kind of thing so blatantly excludes slightly older phones. I have an Android 9 phone, according to Google, that means my phone is at most 5 years old. It runs perfectly fine, so I've never seen the need to change it. Is this another way to get people to needlessly upgrade?

adularia · 23/04/2023 16:27

Didn’t turn anything off, phone isn’t on silent and I didn’t get it or a message. I’m on Vodafone with good signal, and I have 4G.

You should just need to update the Android system. Updates available on Google Play.

HalloumiFries · 23/04/2023 16:30

Yes, on 4G on a Samsung s22 on Vodafone. No reason to not get it. I guess I'm getting left behind in the stampede to the bunkers.

LittleRebelGirl · 23/04/2023 16:30

Samsung s10 on O2 with good signal. Didn't get anything. Was in Asda and heard some other phones go off, but not that many. Seemed to go at 14.59 and then again about 4 mins later a few more went off.
Not a sausage on my phone. Wonder what they will do now as clearly hasn't worked in the testing phase!

RaininSummer · 23/04/2023 16:32

Not a sausage here

ANiceBigCupOfTea · 23/04/2023 16:32

Yes, both the sound and message

Ivebeenframed · 23/04/2023 16:33

I'm on three network and so is my DD we didn't get it. Both our DP's on different networks received the alert 🤔

DahliaBlue · 23/04/2023 16:34

If you didn't get it, check your alerts history I forgot all about it and then when I saw this thread thought I hadn't got it because I didn't remember my phone going off. When I checked in settings though it was there under emergency alert history received at 14:59. Thinking back now I do remember somebeeping when I went through the doors at Tescos around that same time - assumed someone had just triggered the Teso security system.

bellswithwhistles · 23/04/2023 16:35

All 4 phones went off exactly 3pm as instructed.

We were in a shopping centre - the whole shopping centre went off!

Cant' understand all these people saying nothing happened.

Same phone and nothing here either.

My alerts are greyed out and cant be switched on or off. Is yours the same?

Topseyt123 · 23/04/2023 16:37

I've checked emergency alerts history. There is nothing there.

Oblomov23 · 23/04/2023 16:38

Yep. All the phones in the house, iPads, tv. Totally shocked me because I hadn't read anything about it.

It seems lots of phones don't have the alert feature available ( not old ones either) so I was never going to get it lol

I would but there is no alert history to check lol

Iguanainanigloo · 23/04/2023 16:40

Nope! She got it, but I didn't. Checked and it was all switched to "on" so who knows..

Iguanainanigloo · 23/04/2023 16:40

*DH!

I've just discovered why.
Needs to be running android 11 or later. Mine is 10. I can't find emergency alerts anywhere on my phone to check if on or off. So I googled, and discovered this. Makes sense now.

Worked on mine. Dog had just dropped off for an afternoon nap and the poor thing nearly flew through the ceiling! Must have been an odd frequency to startle him like that

Same with one of my dogs! It woke him up from his nap and he wasn’t happy 😂

OMGitsnotgood · 23/04/2023 16:41

turned on and enabled, didn't receive a thing
