O2 and Vodafone here , three different phones, and we didn’t get It. Wi-Fi and 4 g connected.

MrsClatterbuck · 23/04/2023 16:01

Don't know because I fell asleep. Dh heard his but he was outside.

CoffeeCakeAndALattePlease · 23/04/2023 16:02

I am on holiday in Spain. I hoped that the network would ping all phones with a UK contract. I would want to know what was happening with family at home.
No alert on mine or DHs phones.

The alert was sent from UK mobile phone masts, so you wouldn't have received it.

I wonder whether overseas visitors to the UK got it. When I go to Europe, my phone automatically connects to a local network .
Re reception - 2 phones received the alert, 1 on iD Mobile (using Three network) no alert.

Plankingplanks · 23/04/2023 16:02

Yanbu 3 in the car, not one alert between us!

The alert was broadcast in the U.K. on the 4G and 5G network, it wouldn't work outside the U.K. or it seems on the Three network in the U.K. if media reports are to be believed.

NeonBoomerang · 23/04/2023 16:04

Yeah. Loads quieter than expect. Mine came at 14.59, and my husband's at 15.00. Does that mean i gst a five minute warning?

sanityisamyth · 23/04/2023 16:04

Loud noise, even though phone was on silent and this message!

Gamerlady · 23/04/2023 16:05

5 phones here and not one warning alarm ..

Greentree1 · 23/04/2023 16:06

One out of four here.

ThinWomansBrain · 23/04/2023 16:06

@CurlyhairedAssassin Maybe they thought it would work for everyone 😂
they could have asked about signal strength too

@cantkeepawayforever - mine's ID, & no, been left to be nuked.

techmum99 · 23/04/2023 16:07

Still haven't got it. The Three network. Scotland. My son is on Three and he got it though.

Didydani · 23/04/2023 16:09

Yep, I got the alert too, as I commented on another thread. Even turned the volume down too, as I too thought it would be very loud. It was quieter than I expected tbh!

cantkeepawayforever · 23/04/2023 16:09

@ThinWomansBrain maybe they think that us cheapskates on mobile packages deserve nothing better????

WoollyRosebud · 23/04/2023 16:10

A genteel beeping noise at 2.59. Doubt that would wake me up in the night

HappilyContentTheseDays · 23/04/2023 16:10

Nothing on my 'phone. But I'm on Three, it seems Three network got missed out somehow.....

purser25 · 23/04/2023 16:12

Tesco 4 year old Samsung nothing

Killingmytime · 23/04/2023 16:13

It only notifies you if it’s 4g or 5g enabled phone, if you have:

  • iPhones running iOS 14.5 or later
  • Android phones and tablets running Android 11 or later

You will not receive alerts if your device is:

  • turned off or in airplane mode
  • connected to a 2G or 3G network
  • wifi only,
  • not compatible
Forever42 · 23/04/2023 16:14

No, none of us got it here. All phones 4G with signal and alert enabled. All on Three network.

WeAreTheHeroes · 23/04/2023 16:14

Snapdragonsoup · 23/04/2023 15:43

So if we had been getting a 10 minute warning of a nuclear attack some people would have got the alert 10 mins late, some would have been lucky and got it a minute early and some not at all!

In the event of a nuclear attack a 10 minute warning would be largely pointless.

HalloumiFries · 23/04/2023 16:15

Nothing at all for me. I've just checked and everything is turned on so it should have come through. I was watching TV on my phone at 3pm and have just seen someone on fb post that they didn't get an alert as they were playing a game at the time. Surely it should interrupt those things? Wondering if that's the reason why I didn't get anything?

Not on Three btw.

I got it, phone is on an Irish network but I happened to be passing very close to Northern Ireland at the time so my phone got it via nearby UK mast.

Mistymoonsinastarrysky · 23/04/2023 16:16

Mine went off despite being turned off!

Nimbostratus100 · 23/04/2023 15:11

how can something so simple get messed up so badly? Was it contracted out to Boris's nephew's sister-in-law's aunty's ferry company or something?

Probably some Tory donor or MPs spouse is a bit hard up and needed a £mm contract to boost their bank balance. Probably that Dido Test &Trace wanker.

cantkeepawayforever · 23/04/2023 16:17

iD uses Three, so if that network failed to deliver, it explains why iD failed as well.
