I didn't know it was going to speak , that was a very loud message!!

Mine didn’t speak!

DH switched his phone off. Switched it back on 15mins later and jumped out of his skin when it gave him the alert. But he didn’t get the message

In the pub having Sunday lunch

All 3 phones went off as well as many others in the pub .. at 1459

Lots of shouts of " it's the Russians " swiped the message , carried on with my roast

No big deal

NeedWineNow · 23/04/2023 19:44

Yes ours did in the pub. Our friend said this is in case of nuclear war rather than floods but he does have a flair for the dramatic.

Yep. All the phones in the house, iPads, tv. Totally shocked me because I hadn't read anything about it.

Really?! It's been all over print media, radio and social media for weeks!

Whisper23 · 23/04/2023 23:00

I mentioned this on another thread. My OH and I have the same phone, running android 13, on the same network, alerts enabled. We were in the same place. He got the alert but I didn't. Not sure what the variable could be.

Watsername · 23/04/2023 23:04

I got the alert twice. Once at 3pm and again 20 minutes later! DH got it at 3:01. DS1 got it, but DS2 didn’t. Both DSs are on iD mobile (carried by Three), but one up north and one down south, so maybe something to do with their location….?

Oopsididitagaintomorrow · 23/04/2023 23:12

A few of us in our household on 3 network and we all got the alert and message x

Wenfy · 23/04/2023 23:35

Alert on my watch not phone.

cakewench · 24/04/2023 00:23

I’m with Three, no alert here. My friends and husband and son did have theirs at various times all around 15:00.

I'm not filled with confidence that I won’t be awoken at 3am by an alarm now though! 😁

Cant' understand all these people saying nothing happened.

There’s poll going on ISP Review. The sample size is pretty small but last time I looked as many people didn’t get it as did.

https://www.ispreview.co.uk/talk/threads/emergency-alert-test-23rd-april.39642/

That poll isn’t statistically significant in the slightest - you can’t use that to draw any conclusions.
You also have to remember in things like this, people are more likely to go out of their way to vote / leave a review etc if things go wrong rather than if they went fine.

whyhere · 24/04/2023 08:13

At 3pm-ish yesterday, both mobiles sounded the alert (O2). Then, at 8am this morning, just one of them did it again! What's that about??!!

JenniferBooth · 24/04/2023 13:01

"Small number unable to make or receive calls since emergency alert A small number of people have taken to social media to flag that they have not been able to make or receive calls since the 3pm alarm went off on their device.

The Cabinet Office stated that engineers had not spotted a trend of phone functions failing to work afterwards, but said officials were in the early stages of analysing the results of the trial run"

Given that this was in the press yesterday and people are now still receiving alerts at random i really dont like the idea that i could still get this and be unable to use my phone. I did mention on previous threads earlier this month that i was worried this could affect use of the phone and got laughed at and before anyone bleats that it was only a small number thats still not good enough , what if someone needs to phone an elderly relative or vulnerable teenager. Remember "its for your safety" !!!

Horsedoglover59 · 24/04/2023 15:46

No, nothing. My phone is 4 and 5g enabled, and I was reading stuff on it most of tge afternoon, so I didn't miss an alert.

bellswithwhistles · 23/04/2023 16:35

All 4 phones went off exactly 3pm as instructed.

We were in a shopping centre - the whole shopping centre went off!

Cant' understand all these people saying nothing happened.

What's there to understand? Lots of people didn't get it.

WeAreTheHeroes · 25/04/2023 07:16

I didn't receive it. Neither did DP. What more do you want?
