I don't know what to do.

My DD6 has informed me that her dad (who she sees every other weekend) has let her go into a home bargains by herself while he waits outside with his dog.

He says that he has done it twice as it's teaching her self confidence and she can listen.

Personally I wouldn't allow her to do that alone as she is only 6. I can't explain to him that it isn't a safe thing to do as he wouldn't take anything I say onboard.

WWYD?

How big is the Home Bargains? Is she familiar with the shop already? Can he keep an eye on her from outside the whole time? And how 'responsible' is your dd?

My local Home Bargains is very large so I wouldn't be comfortable with this, but judging by a lot of the responses a lot of the HBs are a lot smaller than this. So it very much depends on the specifics of the situation and child.

Op hasn't returned and first post was days ago

Title totally misleading

As long as that was the only entrance /exit then nothing can happen to them inside and no one can abduct them

Yes they may start crying and you wouldn't know

But if an adult saw a child alone crying I would like to think they would help them. Know I would

Personally I just don’t understand why. How is going into a shop on her own helping her independence. The home bargains around my area are large stores so I don’t think I would be comfortable with it, but I guess if he is standing by the exit then what could happen. It’s a tricky one.
Why can’t he just stick to a corner shop whilst she is still so young. Frustrating for you I’m sure.
