To think that the 'trans issue' isn't a big deal

It just blows my mind how many people on here are so hung up over trans women. They're such a small percentage of the population. I have never seen an obviously trans woman in a women's toilet (not that it would particularly bother me if I did), in fact I very rarely see trans women out and about ever.
I'd be happy to listen to explanations but I really don't understand the issue. Surely there are thousands of more pressing issues regarding women's rights and safety currently than the 0.27% of the population (a USA statistic but I assume it's accurate enough) that are trans women. And even then it would be a minuscule proportion of those that are ill-intentioned towards women. It just seems like a big fuss about something so obscure when there are huge issues that deserve more attention.

Nice attempt at goading. All I’ll say is if you can’t accurately define women you can’t defend their rights.

UnicornBoom · 16/04/2023 22:05

Nice one

Ostryga · 16/04/2023 22:05

Yes they are an incredibly small percentage of the population but are taking away from women, and the rights we have lived and died for to gain.

Just because you are ignorant of what women are losing out to accommodate men wanting to wear lipstick and dresses and you don’t understand what we’re up against doesn’t mean it isn’t a big deal.

Toottooot · 16/04/2023 22:05

Get tae hun.

Pixiedust1234 · 16/04/2023 22:06

I believe someone worked out Starmers 0.1% figure of women with a penis equals one in a thousand women. Thats not really a small insignificant number.

EmmaEmerald · 16/04/2023 22:06

OP you haven't had to deal with this at work, or at a leisure place?

SweetSakura · 16/04/2023 22:07

Try asking the women sharing women's prisons with convicted rapists

GladAllOver · 16/04/2023 22:07

Do we really have to explain this all over again?

Fuctifin0 · 16/04/2023 22:07

You are wrong.
The trans issue is a big deal and it should be a big deal.

RaininSummer · 16/04/2023 22:07

There are lot of men in dresses in my small city.

MajesticWhine · 16/04/2023 22:07

You got any kids OP?

Crikeyisthatthetime · 16/04/2023 22:08

You don't have an issue with it? That's nice for you, dear

it shouldn’t be a problem. When it comes s leading to males in female prisons, males in female changing rooms and the word woman removed in favour of dehumanising terms such as bleeder it becomes a problem.

nothingcomestonothing · 16/04/2023 22:09

What a charmed life you must lead, that the dismantling of women's rights in order to privilege men with special feelings isn't a pressing issue for you. Lucky you.

BIWI · 16/04/2023 22:09

Have you bothered to engage your brain and read any of the myriad threads on MN about how the 'trans issue' is impacting on women's rights?

No. Didn't think so.

SnackSizeRaisin · 16/04/2023 22:10

Firstly it's not the "genuine" ones that are the issue necessarily, it's the fact that any man can now get into women's facilities. Why do we have separate women's and men's toilets, changing etc? If we need it then men shouldn't be allowed into it.

Secondly it's the harm that can potentially be done to teenagers and young adults encouraged to take irreversible steps that can cause them long term issues.

Dontbelieveaword · 16/04/2023 22:11

I do beg everyome to ignore this thread. Don't give it air.

That's understandable. But surely men could do that anyway? There's nobody standing outside checking, any perv could just walk in if he so desired to

I can tell by your post OP that your mind is indeed truly blown.

BingoLingFucker · 16/04/2023 22:13

YABU.
I ask myself how such a small population has created so much change in a relatively short space of time.
For all intents and purposes women can no longer have single sex spaces. TW are in female prisons, hospital wards, sports etc.
When JKR funded Scotland’s only female only rape shelter (every other shelter is mixed sex), there was outrage because female only nowadays is transphobic.
Women’s language is being changed. Cervical cancer campaigns often miss out the word woman completely, even though clarity of language is essential, as research shows that around 40% of women don’t know that they have a cervix.
Prostate cancer campaigns are very clearly aimed at men.
If this doesn’t show the misogyny in the movement I don’t know what does.
If women complain about this they face threats (death, rape, violence), many have lost their jobs. A swimmer in the US was recently assaulted and held against her will by TRAs because she dared to have an opinion on being beaten in an elite race by a man.
You might not think it affects you, but the effects of making women’s rights anyone’s rights will be deeply felt by many more women to come, when they have to toe the line and follow the gender script.
It’s frightening.

Thanks for the genuine answer. I appreciate it.
Lots of people on here are getting very upset...

I don’t want any man in women’s spaces, whether he has a penis or not.
