To be so angry with ‘DH’

Maisemoo · 14/04/2023 19:14

I was bought a pair of trainers for my birthday by my DM- they were expensive at £180 in comparison to my normal converse so use them when I know not muddy etc.
Cleaning hall and found them covered in paint and mud- DH saw them and hadn’t seen me in them for a few weeks (baring in mind he works away 4 nights a week so doesn’t see me everyday) so decided to use them for work- he works in a building site!
they are completely ruined and stink of sweaty man feet and I am really upset as they are not just something I can replace due to cost. DH thinks I am being dramatic and has whacked them in the washing machine- but I hate trainers in the washing machine as they never feel the same and right now am so angry I want to throw them in the bin or at at his face

Out of interest, does anyone know what size feet Tom Cruise has? He always looks like he wears small shoes.

Quick Google suggests US 12, equivalent to UK 11.

He's 5'7" so I do think this is a bit unlikely.

In my world people dont just take other people's shoes and wear them. What a cheak. And to wear your nicest trainers to buildng site and ruin them... I dont have words for that :/

Reckon Toms a uk 6 at most; only noones allowed to say

Wishihadanalgorithm · 14/04/2023 22:28

If he doesn’t replace them with like for like, I would take great pleasure in damaging something of equal value which he loves. I am petty and I know two wrongs don’t make a right but I would want him to feel exactly the same way as I now feel.

Wishihadanalgorithm · 14/04/2023 22:31

Just seen the update. That’s a positive result, OP.

Sierra26 · 14/04/2023 22:32

Wtf throw them at his face while you’re insisting he replaces them

Stripedbag101 · 14/04/2023 22:47

OP normal people wouldn’t do this. It’s deliberate and nasty.

he took something valuable that you lived and destroyed it. Is he abusive in other ways? He sounds like a really unpleasant person.

he excuse for taking them really makes no sense - it was a deliberate act of vandalism. To annoy or hurt you.

pinkfondu · 14/04/2023 22:48

Is he jealous has he ruined them on purpose

I too am surprised at how surprised people are at husband and wife having the same size feet. My husband and I both have the same size feet, and being the same height, can - and occasionally do - wear each other's jeans and T shirts!

Do you find people give you stick for it? I had a boyfriend who was one bloody inch shorter than me (5'9 to my 5'10) and we got absolutely horrible comments from both people we knew and strangers. It was bizarre. A lot of men seem to derive their self-esteem from being bigger than their partner and a lot of women seem to derive their self-esteem from being smaller than theirs and they just can't conceive that not everyone is so insecure. I found it really quite pathetic (like a lot of this thread!)

It's got more to do with the fact I'm very much married. ( to a tall, big footed, large of peepee man 😂)

Lovely to hear that there's two massive dicks in your marriage

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/04/2023 23:01

Can I just clear up the "no-one would squash their feet into a pair of too small shoes"

Apart from the fact the OPs DH was a size bigger and probably needed a clean pair of trainers so helped himself :

A lot of men have small feet (relarive to average size )
I am not even going to think about the Foot:Penis size ratio

Sadly a lot of people with neuropathy will choose a smaller size than their foot size because it feels snug and makes them feel more secure walking .
It also buggers up the feet .( So they need loads of education/information)
I;m not saying the DH is neuropathic, just a CF .

Obsevations made in a Professional Capacity .

MuffinToSeeHere · 14/04/2023 19:23

Well of course they can but I would imagine it was statistically very unlikely for a married couple where one was a man and the other a women to have exactly the same sized feet.

Obviously he should replace them but it's not an odd thing to comment on given how unusual it must be.

Me and my hubby both have size 8 feet. I've given him my old trainers to work in before, doesn't seem so odd to me!

Isiteveningyet · 14/04/2023 23:02

I can’t lie, I’d get the proper ick if a bloke I was with could not only wear my shoes but did.

KilljoysMakeSomeNoise · 14/04/2023 23:15

There's no way Tom Cruise has size 11 feet. He'd look like a clown! My DP has size 11, he's 6ft 1, and even he looks like he's wearing clown shoes sometimes. Grin

My youngest is 5ft 7 and in size 7/8, so I think Tom would be about the same.

Back to the OP, glad you got new shoes and a bonus takeaway.

Milkand2sugarsplease · 14/04/2023 23:17

He gets a new pair of shoes out of it too seeing as he can keep the pair he's stretched so it's not all bad for him😂

Seriously though, were his feet not sore shoved into shoes that don't fit him at work all day??
And who nicks off with someone else's shoes anyway?

piedbeauty · 14/04/2023 23:26

Nope. He is V U. He needs to buy you the same trainers.

Wtf was he thinking?!

Totally this.

Since the thread has already gone to shit, I’ll share. I’m 5 ft 7 and my (male) partner is an inch shorter than I am. I wear a size 6 shoe and his are 9.5. He’s not in the least bit delicate - he’s pretty built.

And nope, he doesn’t have a small penis. 😬

CabbageKale · 14/04/2023 23:38

Obviously the thought of small feet has triggered a lot of mumsnetters.

How many people need to tell us that their 6'5 husband has size 13 feet? I'm waiting for the petite competitive under eaters with the tiny wrists to pitch in soon!

ShowUs · 14/04/2023 23:39

Elli123 · 14/04/2023 21:37

Honestly, mumsnet has become full of truly hideous people. Get a life nasty people!

I agree.

I’m assuming all of the nasty comments are from women under the age of 16 due to school holidays as I can’t believe a grown adult would be that ignorant.

These are all the same people who’d get offended if a man said they were repulsed by them because they were too fat or too flat chested.

FWIW my ex was 6ft7 and I can’t remember his shoe size but they were at least size 13 as he’d struggle getting them in normal shoe shops.

Neither of us would ever have looked down our noses at couples where the man is shorter than average or had smaller than average feet.
I know a woman who is married to a dwarf.
There are also many men married to supermodels who are way taller than them and most likely have bigger feet.

I’ve always said women body shame more than men do and this thread absolutely proves it.

waysways · 14/04/2023 23:39

Ktime · 14/04/2023 20:30

Well, let’s end the thread now, @MysteryBelle ‘s husband has spoken.

😂😂

Hankunamatata · 14/04/2023 23:45

Too right you are ordering another pair on him. Even if you hadn't worn them for a few weeks, who on earth takes their partners shoes esp when they are a size too small

MidsummerMimi · 14/04/2023 23:46

The fact that he wore a random pair of shoes that he found in the hall is hilarious.
I have a mental picture of him showing up on building sites in a different pair of stilettos every day.

Codlingmoths · 14/04/2023 23:46

I think that sounds a good outcome, new trainers for you and consequences for him.
