To be so angry with ‘DH’

Maisemoo · 14/04/2023 19:14

I was bought a pair of trainers for my birthday by my DM- they were expensive at £180 in comparison to my normal converse so use them when I know not muddy etc.
Cleaning hall and found them covered in paint and mud- DH saw them and hadn’t seen me in them for a few weeks (baring in mind he works away 4 nights a week so doesn’t see me everyday) so decided to use them for work- he works in a building site!
they are completely ruined and stink of sweaty man feet and I am really upset as they are not just something I can replace due to cost. DH thinks I am being dramatic and has whacked them in the washing machine- but I hate trainers in the washing machine as they never feel the same and right now am so angry I want to throw them in the bin or at at his face

Is it possible he was concerned about going into the client’s house and wanted to wear the ‘cleanest’ soled shoes he could find so that he wouldn’t have to wear those plastic booties etc? And so is why he didn’t wear his own scruffy boots?

Trying to see if there’s any sane explanation at all for this extremely bizarre behavior.

Or else he did it on purpose out of malice. Or, op is secretly married to Dylan Mulvaney. Now that would make all this make perfect sense.

Why would that be a ‘risk’? Racist much.

It's got more to do with the fact I'm very much married. ( to a tall, big footed, large of peepee man 😂)

Daffodilsandtuplips · 14/04/2023 21:03

He needs to replace them.
It couldn’t happen here though as my DH shoe size is 11 and I’m size 4.5.

I’m sure the men of Mexico are devastated.

I am a six 6 and he is a 7 so has stretched them all to fit - but yes he does have small feet and a small brain 🤨

My dh is also a (small) 7 and I'm a 6 so we have shared trainers in the past.

I would also be furious if he ever did that to me. He does need to replace them, even if it's using money allocated to his birthday/christmas or activity just about him.

NortieTortie · 14/04/2023 21:05

I'm a 6 and my husband is a 13 so thank you for the mental image of him trying to squish a toe into my doc martens 🤣 like Cinderella and the stepsisters

I expect so, we all have our crosses to bear.

impz · 14/04/2023 20:56

Who buys £180 trainers? 🙄

And I agree with some, the thought of a little guy with his dainty feet sharing my shoes...

They're specific trainers the OP wanted that were bought as a gift..

Ktime · 14/04/2023 21:05

I’m sure the men of Mexico are devastated.

Their cries of despair could be heard all the way to Peru.

As an aside, fanatstic response OP, glad you got some new shoes!

The small feet wouldn't bother me - and anyway, the most repulsive thing on this thread is referring to a penis as a peepee.

IsThePopeCatholic · 14/04/2023 21:16

Going against the grain here, but maybe he didn’t realise they were expensive trainers. Maybe, like me, he doesn’t understand the fetishisation of trainers and for him they’re just a pair of sports shoes.

Maisemoo · 14/04/2023 19:30

Thread isn’t bull shit he is a tradesman that is self employed and this week was ‘finishing’ in someone’s home while they were on holiday- was easier to say building site as obviously there is mud, sawdust pain, manual work making sweating feet

He intentionally ruined your special gift.

🤣

And being proud of his peepee as if brandishing it as a weapon

Mariposista · 14/04/2023 21:21

Ughh my mum bought me a pair of trainers for my birthday too (not as expensive as yours but still nice), and I only wear them in the gym, use my old ones for running outdoors in bad weather etc. I’d be devastated if anyone did that to them so I totally get why you’re upset.

Pyui · 14/04/2023 21:23

MuffinToSeeHere · 14/04/2023 19:23

Well of course they can but I would imagine it was statistically very unlikely for a married couple where one was a man and the other a women to have exactly the same sized feet.

Obviously he should replace them but it's not an odd thing to comment on given how unusual it must be.

My husband and I have exactly the same size feet-10’s

We do use each others shoes sometimes!

But he knew that they weren't his & I'm guessing that he does have shoes of his own?

Echobelly · 14/04/2023 21:28

YANBU - who takes a obviously pristine pair of shoes that aren't theirs and wears them to a building site... without even asking permission?!!

I could vaguely understand taking a battered old pair thinking 'Ho hum, doesn't matter what happens to these'. Even if they have been revived after a wash, it's the priciple of the thing.

Elli123 · 14/04/2023 21:37

Honestly, mumsnet has become full of truly hideous people. Get a life nasty people!

mandlerparr · 14/04/2023 21:45

I wear a 12 in womens usa size and my husband wears a 9 usa size. Some of us ladies have huge feet. My adult daughter is in a child's 2. While shoe size does correlate most of the time to height, it is not an all the time thing.

Mustardandchickensandwiches · 14/04/2023 19:28

I cannot get over that you've slept with a man with size 7 feet.

Is he 4ft5?

For some reason I find the thought of a man with small feet revolting.

Me too. I've got the second hand ick.

denim1700 · 14/04/2023 21:51

She made it sound as if Mexican men are a 'prize' now lost because we're (jokingly) shunning small feet lol. That's just bizarre, unexpected and funny. How is anyone supposed to respond to that besides more humour? Please lighten up...

Xarrie · 14/04/2023 21:53

Out of interest, does anyone know what size feet Tom Cruise has? He always looks like he wears small shoes.

How did she make Mexican men sound like a ‘prize’? Why are you putting ‘prize’ in quotation marks when no one has said it?

Well done to whoever reported the comment about Mexican men being a risk, it wasn’t me.

Men say stuff far, far worse than that about women all the time.

"men" isn't just one homogeneous person.

Rather than men Vs women why not think of it as "people". Some of which are considerate in their way of speaking about others and some are not.
Quite a few on this thread are in the"not" category.

TiedUpWithABlackVelvetBand · 14/04/2023 21:58

Thanks for the enlightenment Grin

TangledUpinBlu · 14/04/2023 22:02

Good result op, definitely the right outcome.
Very disrespectful of him to take something of yours and ruin it, if it was worth £18 or £180, worse that they were a gift.
He should still be wearing correct PPE even if he is the only worker on site, work boots/trainers can be purchased for much less than £180 so hopefully lesson learned for him.
My partner is size 8, Im a 5, wore his battered old trainers for a muddy walk because I hadn't got suitable shoes with me, he's 5"8.
My 13yo is 5"10 and wears size eleven.
