Does anyone think about Covid anymore?

Feels like measures have sort of.. disappeared. Virtually no precautions whatsoever anywhere these days , not even light measures

My CEV mum doesn’t even mention it or bother with a mask anymore.

It’s like it’s gone away but obviously it has not.

I don't think about it all to be honest.

dietcokelime · 13/04/2023 17:34

No more than I think about any seasonal illness.

Babdoc · 13/04/2023 17:35

Well I still think about it every sodding day, as I have long Covid fatigue, and have been buggered by it for the last three years!

LlynTegid · 13/04/2023 17:37

I think about it in a different way. There has been no justice for the relatives of those who family members were effectively sent to their deaths in care homes, and none for the then Prime Minister for not acting promptly enough despite what was being seen particularly in Spain and Italy.

I don't want a measure of justice to take as long as happened for the Hillsborough families.

GlassBunion · 13/04/2023 17:37

Went for a diabetic eye check this morning.

My letter informed me that I needed to be masked up and should have a negative Covid test.

Pitched up. I was the only one in the waiting room wearing a mask and the nurse asked me to lower my mask! I've only just recovered from Covid.

No one gives a toss anymore.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 13/04/2023 17:39

Yes but I'm immunosuppressed and currently have no vaccine.

Newusernameaug · 13/04/2023 17:40

I always knew it was over hyped by the horrific media we have in the UK

Torturedsoul · 13/04/2023 17:40

Like @Babdoc, every damn day due to Long Covid and all the issues a mild infection has left me with.

FruitBatBaby · 13/04/2023 17:41

Not here, but we are fortunate enough to be healthy and likely unaffected. We're vaccinated but only boosted once and we've all had Covid. I'd like to think that hand washing became a permanent adopted behaviour for those that weren't overly familiar with it pre-pandemic!

Frosty1000 · 13/04/2023 17:42

Only in the sense of the lasting effects of long covid. If I woke up tomorrow with a running nose/sore throat I wouldn't think that it's covid or that I wanted to test.

PurplePineapple1 · 13/04/2023 17:43

No, why would you waste time thinking about a particular illness?!

Laughable that after 3 years people are still saying "it hasn't gone away" as though it's some big mic drop revelation. It isn't ever going to go away! Why would you think it will? Has the common cold 'gone away'? Has flu?

2bazookas · 13/04/2023 17:44

Sending samples to ONS survey has finished so no longer getting that monthly reassuring result ""high antibodies".

But we've been summoned to our 5th covid vaccinations next week.

Akite · 13/04/2023 17:45

Yes, we do. I've had it 3 times in the last 18 months and each time has taken me multiple months to recover from. Plus we have a relative with terminal cancer so we test whenever we are going to see them.
I worry about the long term impact of covid on my health and the wider public health.

Oysterbabe · 13/04/2023 17:45

Wasn't sure how to vote. I don't think about or give a shit about it.

Vegetus · 13/04/2023 17:45

Never did so definitely don't now.

Sirzy · 13/04/2023 17:46

I do. Ds was classed as CEV and now qualifies for the antiviral meds if he was to contract it so we still have to test at any sign of illness

BCBird · 13/04/2023 17:47

I think about it . My friends and I all trst if we meet. They do this to accommodate me. I have been living like a recluse. I can't get my head round the fact that no measures are being taken. I had blood test ither day, arrived in my mask- nurse no mask 🙄asked if I wanted her to wear a mask. Err yep.

MaverickSnoopy · 13/04/2023 17:47

Yes, its impacted so many people I know. I suffered terribly and had no support. I couldn't physically walk as the inflammation locked my back and I had to crawl around shaking with a temperature to look after my children. I don't want a repeat of that.

I am now more mindful of all illnesses and plan life differently. If we have bugs when people visit we open windows and pre warn people. We still covid test. We've been invited to a party 1 week before a wedding where we're part of the wedding party. So we've declined the invitation, whereas previously we would have gone. I'm definitely more considerate towards the wellbeing of others and how my choices might impact them.

Osina · 13/04/2023 17:48

In the last few weeks, two close family members have come down with it. One is doing ok but one is having quite a rough time of it. It has been a bit strange to have been doing the distancing again!

allthebeautifulflowers · 13/04/2023 17:49

I've been bed bound by long covid for months and I'm facing losing my job and career, so I think about it a lot. I recovered well initially and wasn't CEV - so many people are complacent but this could happen to anyone.

tatteddear · 13/04/2023 17:50

Well I certainly thought about it last week when I bloody had it and couldn't get out of bed! It's horrible and I'm still knackered!

Christmascracker0 · 13/04/2023 17:51

Yes because my mum was on chemo and is still immunosuppressed. We are careful, but not overly so.

Tacocatgoatcheesepizza · 13/04/2023 17:52

In 2 ways - firstly, the odd ‘can you believe that really happened’ type conversation, mostly set off by a Facebook memory from lockdown coming up. Staying in our houses and being allowed out for 1hr a day still blows my mind.

Secondly, because the knock on effects to dh job and industry are likely to be felt for years to come yet, if not forever.

In terms of worrying about catching it or anything along those lines, no.

BritishDesiGirl · 13/04/2023 17:53

Still expected to wear a mask at the hospital. I wear one every time I'm there.

Hell121 · 13/04/2023 17:53

No more than any other bug doing the rounds!
