Just posting for traffic.

When do you prefer to shower? In the morning or in the evening? And around what time do you shower?

YABU - Morning when I wake up
YANBU - Evening before I go to bed

I'm older (71) and have one bath a week usually and wash in the sink with a washcloth the rest of the time. Is that shocking?

Yeah it is.

DustyLee123 · 18/04/2023 18:08

Both

TheGoogleMum · 18/04/2023 18:12

Evening, I'm far too lazy to get up early to allow time to shower

Of course not because you're washing
I've helped care for people that haven't had a bath or shower in a decade. They don't smell as they wash, just not in a bath/shower

heidihigh · 18/04/2023 18:54

I shower in the morning. My hair is very fine and looks a right mess if I don't wash it in a morning Blush

Agreed, but some people seem to think you can only wash yourself properly under a shower, and that even having a bath is disgusting because “you’re sitting in your own filth”. 🙄

This is the only correct answer. I don’t understand how people can go to bed without having a shower or bath first.

I don't understand how people can go out for a days work after a night under a warm duvet without having a shower to freshen up first.

Even when I do have a shower in the evening, I still would feel grotty going out for the day without having one in the morning.

Panpig · 18/04/2023 20:32

Both, although once or twice a week I'll have a bath in the evening instead of a shower

You honestly think that having an evening shower (immediately before bed or a couple of hours before?) means you wake up clean?! Wow!

KimberleyClark · 18/04/2023 21:02

I think it’s more important to go to work clean than to go to bed clean.

Starhead69 · 18/04/2023 21:02

Shower on a morning usually after exercise. (Not every day) bath every night. Every other night I’ll wash my hair in the bath

Charlieandlola · 18/04/2023 21:09

Depends on what I’m doing each day and the weather ! Generally shower in the evenings in winter as it warms me up and means I don’t have to face the cold bathroom in the mornings!

I said I like to go bed feeling clean. I want to wash off the day. Think of the deodorant under your arms, sun cream on your body, your feet from wearing socks or shoes all day and the germs on your body throughout the day. A shower or bath helps me to sleep better.

Well that’s not what was said was it @Twonewcats ?

Merangutan · 18/04/2023 21:36

I prefer the evening as it makes total sense to clean away the day’s grime before bed and wake up clean for work. However, I shower first simply to wake myself up because I’m not a morning person.

Cleaner than I am after wandering around a busy city or travelling on public transport or working in an office that’s lucky to get dusted annually, yes. What are you doing in the night while asleep that gets you dirtier?!

You can’t possibly get rid of all the bacteria on your skin. Many of them are actually beneficial for the health of your skin.

CheeseMcKnees · 18/04/2023 21:43

PM, I work from home and often outside in mud, don’t see anyone until the evening so wash PM

Fairislefandango · 18/04/2023 21:43

What do people do all day that makes them so 'grimy'? Most of what you're washing off is probably dead skin cells, sweat and skin oils, all of which you producd in the night as well as in the day, so you get that all over your bed sheets, clean pyjamas etc anyway.

I shower in the morning. With a chouce between being at your cleanest when out and about sharing spaces with and interacting with people or when you're asleep and you and everyone else are therefore oblivious to how clean you are, why choose to be cleanest when you're asleep?

Eh?? It's LITERALLY what was said! 😅
"Go to bed clean, wake up clean."

Mostar · 18/04/2023 21:46

Always morning. Not sure I buy the "whole days' grime" argument. Like, I don't work down a coal mine or anything.

Because I exercise in the evening and WFH. Makes sense to shower after spin classes so I shower in the evening

CurlewKate · 18/04/2023 22:27

In an ideal world- both. In reality morning.

Raggeo · 18/04/2023 22:32

Pre-kids I used to shower in the morning as soon as I got up. Now I don't have time so I shower in the evening. I put the kids to bed and do a quick tidy up then shower before relaxing for the evening. If I have something on I will shower before bed.
My husband also used to be a morning showerer but now he has a longer commute so he has switched to evening showers too. He prefers his just before bed.

Catsmere · 18/04/2023 22:37

Either. Morning is a bit of a pain, it means getting up earlier, but is better for washing my hair. I do afternoon or evening if I’ve been out and feel grubby when I get home (usually after grocery shopping).
