Shower - AM or PM ?

Just posting for traffic.

When do you prefer to shower? In the morning or in the evening? And around what time do you shower?

YABU - Morning when I wake up
YANBU - Evening before I go to bed

Both. I'm in Australia and have a physical job with animals, so I'm dirty and sweaty in the evening. I'm also a sweaty sleeper and workout in the morning, so need a shower before work.

I used to be 'unable' to wake up or leave the house without a shower, used to love it first thing, but since being unwell I don't cope with mornings very well, I feel nauseous, head achy & exhausted. So I pull on leggings & top & go to work. My morning part of my job doesn't involve any human contact, then I come home around 9, have a coffee & then a shower or do some work then have a shower. Sometime before I leave for the afternoon/evening part of my job that involves human contact!

I always used to shower before bed too, but I don't always have the energy these days (which I wouldn't have understood before I got ill). I also had an accident a couple of years ago and lost a lot of use in various body parts, so showering isn't as easy as it once was.

Its always interesting to read how different people are.

Depends what shift im on, if its an early i shower the night beforevso i dont have to faff about in the morning but otherwise i shower in the morning mostly

I’m a pre-bed showerer. I work nights from home so shower during my break.
I’ve never understood morning showerers. I remember a thread started not long ago by a woman who was caught out lying about why she was running late to work. She’d overslept, woken up already late for work and still had a shower before she left! I just remember thinking Jesus, how dirty were you that you couldn’t skip it for one day?

I'm quite clatty I think. I don't really enjoy showers so don't have them often but I do sit on bath edge and 'woosh' my feet and fanny every morning before work/going out and do my face, neck and underarms over the sink. I've cut down to maybe 2 baths a week which I take in the evening and enjoy a scrub and a wallow. If I'm going out in the evening I'll have an additional shower wash but
Sometimes (often) if I'm not going anywhere I could miss out my morning wash and mong around in my PJs.
I dont always brush my hair but i always clean my teeth and I always wash my hands after a poo.

For those who shower in the evening, what do you do when you wake up in the morning?

Do you have a sink wash to wash bits and pits? Do you just brush your teeth and not even wipe your intimate areas with a flannel before you leave the house? Do you just pur deodorant on and hope for the best?

Sorry but this is why so many people smell so frowsey in the morning. Just smelling all musty like they’ve just come from under the covers when in reality they have!

For me it's evening. I can't stand have the day on me in my bed. 🤷‍♀️. Morning is, as OP put it, pits and bits. 😂

Always in the morning, mostly before bed too.
I can't imagine feeling clean/awake in the morning without a shower.
Likewise I wouldn't like to be intimate with someone who hadn't washed fairly recently. I know a load of people will jump on with 'all you need is fresh water, one shower a day is plenty' but honestly, nobody is super fresh if they've showered at 6:30am by 11pm that night. Especially if they move around a lot in the day, and/or live somewhere warm. Yuck.

I shower a lot, absolutely once in the morning, occasionally once at night also, absolutely if I do any exercise which is about 3-4 additional ones a week, absolutely if I go out for the evening or late lunch, usually 2x per week, some times if I feel cold/unwell, and if I have had a stressful day at work. And always after intimate time with partner
It’s not unusual for me to shower up to 4 or 5 times in a day

Re reading that, it looks like quite a lot and I get that, but it’s important to me and I’d be mortified if I was not clean before leaving the house or smelt. So each to their own. I don’t spend loads of money on wasteful things and this is important to me so I’m happy with it

How are people washing and drying their hair in the morning...it would take me ages! Having a shower makes me sleepy as well so that wouldn't be good in the morning. Those that have morning showers, do you truly spend as long as you want? If I have a morning shower I'm very conscious of the time and I'm in a rush. I want to be with my thoughts, use a body scrub, hair mask etc. you can the doing all of that in the morning.

I am sure I read we sweat a pint a night , how can people want to put clothes over that !? Don’t you need the shower to wake you for the day?

No I wouldn't do things like a scrub or mask during a quick morning shower on a work day. Just a quick wash of my face, body, and hair every other day. Brush teeth and hop out. Less than 5 minutes under the water.

weekends / evenings are for longer showers doing masks, scrubs etc.

Nothing. I smell fine
My deo is one that's to be used at night and left on
But I wash - with bar soap, and everywhere including between toes so I'm not just waving a bit of shower gel about Grin it's a proper evening wash
Mostly I get comments on how nice I smell. Otherwise I would have to shower twice and for my skins sake and water I can't do that

Always in the am - I couldn’t go out unless I’d had a shower.

I have a bath in the evening, or if I’m going out, another shower.

Quick shower morning and evening - but only because I exercise after work.

Now that I am pregnant I continue to shower twice a day, but only because I sweat a lot just from breathing Grin

Morning.

My hair is always a mangled mess when I wake up and deffo needs washing every day. I resemble Wursel Gummage.

I also clean my teeth in the shower.

Morning it wakes me up and menopausal so sweat a lot at night. I feel dopey and half asleep if I don’t shower am.

In summer I can have a quick shower two or occasionally three times a day so I do am and pm then.

I don't shower every day and tend to alternate

Eg, Monday shower in the evening, then Wednesday morning, then Thursday evening and so on
