I adore mugs - has to be proper mug for day in question and depends on drink.

Oh gosh, thank god I'm not alone!! With 2 of us in the house, we've got a 3 shelf double cupboard full.... I swear they multiply. My kitchen goal is to have a dresser to fill the top with.

We've about 30 Emma Bridgewaters, mainly dog ones - and a lot of Denby as they keep drinks warm well and are more resilient than the EB. And my favourites are some new Bree Merryn ones that I found in a shop in Padstow on holiday.. I've got a whale, seahorse and octopus one.

Emma Lacey made my perfect mug. I've had it several years. I love it.

I have been coveting a polish pottery mug (very round, blue and white) but haven't yet bought as I'm worried it won't live up to the expectation! (Daft, I know). Do have favourite mugs though. DH uses tiny tea cups, then has to have three in a row (new teabag in each) to my one mug. Drives me nuts, but each to their own!

We have huge polish mugs which are great for fluid intake, though not my preferred mug. Perhaps your DH needs a teapot!

Love a big mug, I find Disney do some good size ones, I only get on with the coco EB ones, I think the CK one is the Billy shape, I prefer the Emily shape.

My friend's DH is horrified by the amount of mugs we have. They had a new kitchen last year and when they were putting everything back in the cupboards he threw away all but two of their mugs 'because there's only two of us living here'.

Do they never ever have guests?

Not very often,he's not the most welcoming of hosts.

Yes, yes ,yes to Dunoon mugs! We were staying in a holiday cottage last Easter and they had one perfect tea drinking sized bone china mug with a lighthouse and boat on. I would not let anyone else use it from the moment of my discovery of the perfect mug. I now have two Dunoon mugs at home and I must have my first cup of tea of the day in one of them. It is the law in our house.

I've just noticed they have 4 Christmas mugs fir £10 in their administration sale (didn't know they were in administration).

Ooh I'll have to take a look! Just spent £23 on a chicken mug from Emma Bridgewater because of this thread.

TragicMuse · 11/04/2023 19:57

One of my favourites broke recently, it was big, curved bucket shape, with my initial on it. The cat pushed it off the worktop.

I've recently bought a thermal cup for work, with a handle, and it's really lovely. I get sidetracked easily so my tea now doesn't go cold while I'm paying attention elsewhere!

But really I like them slightly above average size, bucket or close to bucket shape, not too thick. A good handle.

I like the Penguin book covers ones, we have quite a few of those.

Whisper23 · 11/04/2023 20:17

I love mugs as well. Sometimes I almost hope a mug gets broken so I can choose a replacement.

I like a tall mug for tea, keeps it hotter for longer. This is my current favourite tea mug...

Yep we have a serious mug issue, weirdly my daughter who drinks water and hot chocolate is the worse for mugs … I think she had around 25 at the age of 9

I've got about £200 worth of mugs in various baskets thanks to this thread - luckily i keep getting distracted and don't check any of them out!

I have one very similar to this,my DP calls it a 'tea vase'.

CandleInTheStorm · 11/04/2023 22:21

Coffee always tastes better in dark coloured mug... as in dark on the inside of the mug as well as the outside...

This was my favourite mug ever... I put it into the dishwasher to much and it's really faded, so I don't use it any more... 😭

I have similar, that is my favourite shape of mug ever. Has to be delicate, light and no thick handles. I have a few of various makes all china. They are MINE. Everyone else can use the big fat heavy things.

MsAdoraBelleDearheartVonLipwig · 11/04/2023 23:10

They’re the cocoa mugs, they hold a bit more than the standard half pint. Perfect for a big coffee in the morning.

MsAdoraBelleDearheartVonLipwig · 11/04/2023 23:10

Ah fuck, that was to the Op, why does the reply button not do anything?

If you mean the Bolesławiec Polish pottery, they sometimes have them at a good price in TKMaxx. I've had one for years and years and it's fabulous x
