I thought the whole point of vaping was that you got your nicotine fix without the harmful side-serving of tar?

It is. It’s also so you can do it in all the places you can no longer smoke.

It's not illegal to vape inside hotels, pubs, shops, restaurants, cinemas, theatres, music venues, offices etc but I can't think of any I've been in which allow it.

I feel honoured that one of my posts was considered one of the crappiest answers on mumsnet. Where's my medal?

<standing ovation>

BRAVO!

<cheers>

MrsKHunt · 07/04/2023 21:38

I agree @NatashaDancing , but that's where my confusion was, no-one said anything

Excellent come back.

pjclown · 07/04/2023 22:32

So, we're now staying in a caravan. I'm tucked up in bed, looking forward to my morning vape looking at the sea in the morning. Will it be more acceptable to stand on the veranda in my pjs here considering I will be seen by a lot more people ?!

Yes I’d judge.
I used to pass by a hotel on my way home from work. 5pm and there would always be occupants stood outside this hotel smoking/vaping. All of them looked like tramps. Literally ever single one. Not one of them looked as though they had showered, brushed their hair or got dressed into decent clothes.
It wasn’t a hotel where regular guests stayed let’s put it that way.
It looked like a scene from a zombie apocalypse film.
And no, I’m not suggesting the op looked this bad, but I will never shake the image from my mind.

I'm in a Premier Inn right now, and this is what they say about smoking and vaping:

Dh said I'm ridiculous
Lex345 · 08/04/2023 08:03

Wonders where all the smokers/vapers should go to vape/smoke, since its is (quite rightly) banned indoors and apparently chavvy to go outside to do it, unless wearing a ball gown, tiara and some Jimmy Choos...and possibly with a dog in tow

RampantIvy · 08/04/2023 09:03

Coming back from breakfast there was just one (fully dressed) smoker in front of the hotel Grin

There is a note on the bathroom door requesting that guests leave the door closed after a bath or shower as even the steam can trigger the smoke alarms.

Clearly, many places have installed very sensitive smoke alarms to discourage vaping indoors.

Don't be ridiculous. No one has said anything like that.

There is actually middle ground between wearing a ball gown and diamonds and not bothering to get dressed.

Bellabeemarie · 08/04/2023 19:11

In all honesty I wouldn't but I have seen others and I didn't look twice lol and especially at 6.30am my eyes would be hardly open 🫣😂😂😂

If it was 10am and people was leaving and going about their day then yeah I would hideeeeeeeeee and be embarrassed but that's just my personal opinion....

Sod it you've done it now the question is........... Will you do it again 🫢😂😂😂😂

Gemcat1 · 08/04/2023 22:55

If you are comfortable with what you are wearing then that's fine. I've seen people wearing pyjamas shopping in Tesco. If you want a laugh and show DH that there are worse things then look for walmart shoppers online.

pjclown · 07/04/2023 06:57

Nipping out for a vape, 6.30am nobody around. And yeah I didn't put fresh pjs on to go outside lol

I do the same.

rangagirl · 08/04/2023 23:59

You’re talking about proper PJs, right? Not a sexy nightie that should not be seen by anyone but your husband!

So no, I don’t think you did anything wrong. Who the heck is so delicate that they can’t handle seeing people in pyjamas that cover all of you, like a suit? And you had a jumper over the top… no, you’re fine. HE is being too precious.

Nanaof1 · 09/04/2023 00:30

SoggyPigeon · 07/04/2023 09:06

I’ve only seen that in the UK. 😂 Slackarses.

You need to Google "People of Walmart". It is very, very interesting. PJs are considered dressing up to some people that go there. I have never gone out somewhere via a car in my pjs, but would totally go outside at a hotel if I vaped or smoked and wanted one before the day got started. I am sure they've seen worse and unless your pjs consist of pasties and a g-string, I think it's fine. JMHO

LuvSmallDogs · 09/04/2023 01:01

06.30 is a pretty normal time for vapers/smokers/walking-the-dog-round-the-blockers to still be in their PJs.

My local corner shop has people in PJs/dressing gowns in the afternoon, but then it is crawling with characters who do things like trying to purchase booze while bleeding from a head wound because they'd just fallen over pissed, so...

@Daffodilwoman bet it wasn't a hotel anymore mate, it had turned into a flop house. When the tourist market died down where I grew up, some smaller hotels/B&Bs became where temporary workers/people on the dole/addicts scraped by. Bloody miserable places to live - some want you out at 9am and back at 5 every day, little in the way of cooking facilities, some even bunking up with a stranger who couldn't speak the same language...

What's wrong with holes? Who is going to be looking at her that closely!

Possibly plaid?

threatmatrix · 09/04/2023 15:11

Perfectly fine, was the other poster expecting you to shower and change just to have a crafty vape ?🙄ignore the other half.

I think people just drag on their normal clothes to go outside, don’t they? Takes 5 minutes. If that.
