AIBU - Transgender 'athletes'

HappyHippo1234 · 06/04/2023 00:38

To start off - I have no issue with trans people at all. The only issue I have is transgender females (male to female) competing in women sports.

Yes, they may have been taking hormones and they have lost some muscle and gained some fat. But, they have stronger bones and bigger spines, hands, feet, lungs and hearts. Basically trans females have an advantage over biological females.

What I absolutely HATE about the situation, it the trans athletes attitude, it honestly disgusts me. Did they never take biology as teenagers or learn about puberty?
For them to sit there with their wins and say that they have no advantage just p*sses me off. Are they stupid or ignorant? There's no way they don't know they have an advantage. Do they not realise they are taking wins away from girls and woman who have spent their whole lives training for a sport only for it to be taken away from someone who was a mediocre male.

Look at Lia Thomas, she was somewhere in the 400-500th best college male swimmer or something like that. She is now trans and BAM she is number 1 and winning everything.

It just annoys me to no end. Especially the trans woman who you can tell that they KNOW they have a major advantage and are cheating the system and then sit there with a SMUG GRIN on their faces. I mean every Caitlyn Jenner said it's wrong.

Sorry for the rant. My DD15 has been upset all week as on the weekend another girl beat all the girls by a huge stretch in her cross country meet (her team is usually 1st but were bumped to 2nd). At first everyone thought this girl was great, until one mom heard the group the girl was with discussing the results and how it was great for the team that this girl came out as trans and was boosting their results etc! Fair to say that news travelled quickly and there were MANY parents complaining to officials. But surprise surprise nothing was done about it. So at the award giving ceremony everyone waited as everything up to 1st place was given out and as soon as they got to the 1st team, I would say 95% of people walked away. It felt harsh but necessary!
(Also the girl was 16 and had only recently transitioned from what we could gather and when you actually looked at her you could tell she had gone through at least some portion of male puberty). Again nothing against the girl just don't think she could compete.

And to get around all these discrimination lawsuits, I think they should change the categories! Have an XX category and an XY category, that why there is no debate and no 'discrimination' as you can't identify as XY if you are XX! (And then also have an open category where trans, non-binary etc. can compete).

SORRY THAT WAS SO LONG. NOW FOR THE VOTE:

YABU - Trans (XX) women are woman and should be allowed to compete with XY women, even though they scientifically have an advantage.

YANBU - They will always have an advantage and so should not compete with XY women.

Men competing in women’s sports are cheaters. I can’t see how they think they’ve achieved anything.

And they need to stay out of all women’s spaces too. Women and girls deserve safety, privacy and fairness.

I’m sick to giving death of this being a thing. How the fuck do we have to debate this.

HatchedInALaboratory · 06/04/2023 00:46

*I’m sick to death

GrumpyPanda · 06/04/2023 00:47

You got the XX and XY confused - it's XY that are men.

Such an infuriating story, and goes to show the batshittery of only restricting male participation in elite sports but not at amateur levels. Heartbreaking for the girls, but great to hear people aren't willing to put up with this nonsense any longer.

neslop · 06/04/2023 00:49

Isnt it the other way round, biological women are XX and biological men XY?

AngeloMysterioso · 06/04/2023 01:00

Did they never take biology as teenagers or learn about puberty?

Yep. But they don’t care. #maleentitlement

Are they stupid or ignorant?

Neither. They just don’t care. #maleentitlement

Do they not realise they are taking wins away from girls and woman

They absolutely do. They just don’t care. #maleentitlement

ClaraBourne · 06/04/2023 01:04

They do 'woman' better than women, look, even at sport. I am sure the tide is turning.

sst1234 · 06/04/2023 01:12

But it’s progressive, innit. Like they say, if you tolerate this, then your children will be next. Now the chickens have come home to roost. But never mind, at least it’s progressive.

1Week · 06/04/2023 01:14

Very unfair. Happening everywhere.

This. 100%.

And there’s also the aspect of the changing rooms.

Are you happy OP for your DD to change and shower in front of a biologically male person? Is your DD happy to do that?

Listen to Riley Gaines on this. She’s one of the swimmers who had to compete against Lia Thomas, who you rightly mentioned was a relatively mediocre athlete when competing against other men but has miraculously managed to shoot up to the very top slot when competing against the best college-age female swimmers in the US, including Olympic medallists.

Anyway, Riley explains that swimmers have to change their costume several times on a race day, and that the one they wear to actually race in is skin tight and has no give in it at all, so takes about 15 mins to wriggle into.

Several times over, including one period 15 mins long, of being exposed to a male person who is openly staring at you, and openly enjoying it.

As well as enabling the blatant cheating, the NCAA enabled Thomas to commit the sexual offences of voyeurism and indecent exposure against every single female athlete in that changing room, and the young women were threatened with sanctions for “transphobia” if they protested.

This is the state of women’s rights today.

We don't hate trans women we are just sticking up for women's rights.

I don't understand why trans people don't understand that.

You missed the far right slur in your ignorant rant. Just call MNers far right and be done with it.

1Week · 06/04/2023 01:37

@JaffacakeJanine Oh dear. I think you'll find you're a TERF as trans women are women in all areas. Or so the slogan goes.

Toseland · 06/04/2023 01:37

Come and see 'Let Women Speak' at the Reformers Tree in Hyde Park on Sunday or watch it on YouTube - find out about all the other shit going on too!

Silentmama · 06/04/2023 01:42

Why can't trans men and trans women - compete against trans athletes - its fairer that way,

Bit like if I ran a race and said 'I felt older' than I was - I could not identify in an older bracket to do better could 1

Pattypop · 06/04/2023 01:50

Why should race organisers have to add a category? It ought to be XX or XY, and if you don’t like it don’t compete. It’s as simple as that. Trans people claim
to want ‘acceptance’ from the very people who’s rights they then proceed to trample all over, not seeing that they can have acceptance and not compete, or compete as the sex they were born as, but not both.

Tradeup · 06/04/2023 01:58

I hate the ways that girls (and women) are being publicly shat all over in favour of ONE boy. Our girls are getting a very strong message about how truly little they are valued by our society (unless of course they are willing to by sexually objectified and pretty much nothing else).

Very glad 95% of the parents and girls left, cheaters never prosper.

TiedUpWithABlackVelvetBand · 06/04/2023 02:23

I have long been of the opinion that the upper echelons of transactivism have been infiltrated by a load of highly gender critical people.

This is the most charitable conclusion I could come to, because I refuse to believe transactivists could actually be so stupid as to do so much of the stuff they’re doing on purpose, without any sort of foresight.

Everyone is peaking as a result of their entitled, OTT, ridiculous demands.

All we gender criticals have to do is sit back, watch and wait. As the saying goes:

Never interrupt your opponent when they are making a mistake.

SinnerBoy · 06/04/2023 02:28

@SkiingIsHeaven

We don't hate trans women we are just sticking up for women's rights. I don't understand why trans people don't understand that.

They do understand it, but they want to impose their version of reality on the world and to force people to agree that they are women in every way.

To be fair, there are plenty of "old school" transexuals, who do agree that they're not actual, literal women. They try not to impose and to avoid any perception of bullying.

I don't have any problems with men who want to present themselves as women, wearing feminine clothes, giving themselves a female name, if they don't impose themselves.

It's the Trans Extremist Zealots I dislike, with their bullying, threats and actual violence towards women. Their insistence that they have no advantage in sports, that rapists belong in prison with women etc.

They can fuck the fuck right off.

Take a look at the clip above for what apparently is being taught in school biology in the US.

aweegc · 06/04/2023 04:13

And this from the same event.

"A trans EMT tried to use his medical training to prove that sex is not binary. He ran into trouble when I asked him how he’d respond to a patient with a penis who claims he’s having a miscarriage."

Nimbostratus100 · 06/04/2023 04:17

I hate it that I lose places in park run to transwomen every week. Why should I? I have been a woman for 50 years! They have called themselves women since a week last Tuesday, and were men for the 49 years before that, then take my place from me.
Alright, I will never win a medal or get a podium place, but my results matter to me just as much as the matter to everyone else, and I am being robbed of them, every single time

Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious · 06/04/2023 04:25

It seems unfair that trans women cannot compete in their chosen sport that they may have dedicated their lives to,

They can. I'm the male category because that's what they are. Their biology doesn't change simply because they 'feel' like it. If they want to continue to do their chosen sport, they can do it in the correct category, not cheat in the women's.

Igmum · 06/04/2023 04:37

So sorry that your daughter, and every other girl competing, had to go through that. It is absolutely wrong. And well done to the parents for taking a stand. I'd push it further and complain to the schools and the sports association. Some of these are (agonisingly slowly) beginning to see the light and athletics has just started to insist on single sex competition at elite level. But it really isn't fair to have boys dominating girl's' competitions in school either. It's tough enough keeping girls interested in sports as it is, without humiliating them every time they compete.

Can't vote because I'm on the app (don't know why MNHQ can't fix that) but your daughter definitely shouldn't be going through this. Shame on that cheating male and his cheating school.
