Godzillaisjusthangry · 01/04/2023 08:32

The daily fail have really gone after Thomas Cashman's partner in the paper today, painting her as a gangsters moll.

Do you think she really knew what he was up to? What's the feeling in Liverpool towards her?

AIBU to feel sorry for his kids and wonder what kind of life they will have now? his son and daughter are also victims in this horrible tragedy now. It's so sad.

The house was boarded up months ago, it's not like they've still been living there during this time. I mean, especially after he went and disconnected everything to make sure no one could view CCTV or anything, you know coz he's innocent. Fucking scum is all he is. Hope he enjoys prison, and hope that soft bitch who has stood by him doesn't see another penny of his dirty money. But she will, because she will be looked after. The poor kids being brought up to think this is normal, with a high probability of turning out to be the next generation of fucking scum.

She did not commit the crime. Leave her alone.

She has been completely and utterly complicit in his criminality. Attitudes like this explain precisely why this country is in the state it is.

But its just a muted pink coat. I think you're thinking too much of her if you think any thought went into it. Even if she did think as you outlined then it's still not important enough to justify the reporting in my opinion. It's a coat. If she knew and assisted her boyfriend then that's far more important and worthy of reporting imo. If you do think the coat was chosen specifically then that attention might be what she wanted. So best to just ignore. I'm not sure I'm explaining it well but any potential crimes are far more important than her choice of coat.

No you’re not explaining it well. I think you should stop trying to.

Sweeping generalisations being made about South London on this thread! I've lived all over the UK and I wouldn't live anywhere else. Like everywhere there is good and bad. Just like Liverpool is a great city with lots of great people.

Over40Overdating · 01/04/2023 10:15

@BlackBarbies i imagine they will say anything in the hope of getting their meal ticket and personal ATM off a sentence.

They won’t have his income or the protection of his reputation now and I imagine there will be other dealers keen to step into the gap and show their power and his family will be vulnerable to being used as examples so they have to try cast doubt and say anything that might stop that.

I hope they all get what’s coming to them, to be honest.

xPaz · 01/04/2023 10:06

I don't know anything about her, just clicked on this thread (Not in the UK) but do you think you can just tell a man who has form for solving his problems with a bullet that you're leaving him? She may have had no intention or desire to leave him, but you cannot tell an angry murderous man that you're judging him and he doesn't measure up so you're leaving.

Which makes the fact that it was an ex partner who went to the police to turn him in, and now has to enter witness protection all the more admirable.

Andanotherone01 · 01/04/2023 10:17

And the fact that the vile (I would get banned if I called her what I really thought) turned up to hear the verdict in a pink coat - a colour that Olivia’s family had associated with her and asked people to wear to her funerals. This says everything you need to know about her and her morals.

Godzillaisjusthangry · 01/04/2023 10:18

Are you by any chance married to a gangster yourself and worried about your own future?

😂😂😂

Yeah, a regular Ma Barker me! hilarious

What I don’t understand is, why were the family surprised that he was found guilty? I read an article which said Cashman’s sister said that he had been set up etc. I don’t understand how they’re pleading his innocence when Olivia’s mum literally saw the events unfold in front of her.

Are they trying to say it wasn’t him who killed her? He’d been set up to chase the Nee guy? It all doesn’t make much sense but I have no clue why they were all so surprised

The gunman was wearing a mask. He was not identified by anyone who saw him shoot the gun. He was convicted from other evidence including the testimony of the woman who is in witness protection.

I hope he did do it (so Olivia's family have justice and a murderer isn't walking free) and he's obviously a nasty piece of work anyway, but it's not outwith the realms of possibility that he was set up (ie the witness was paid to lie, evidence planted etc) by a rival crime gang. There was another witness who testified that he spoke to Cashman in his garden at the time when the murder occurred, so one of the witnesses was lying/bribed/mistaken.

This uncertainty is what Cashman and his supporters were playing on, either that or they really believed him because it's hard to believe your loved one did something so terrible.

xPaz · 01/04/2023 10:21

@BabychamGlass wow, yes, respect to his x partner. She will have had to start again, make friends from scratch. I'd be terrified to do that.

Wintersgirl · 01/04/2023 10:28

That might be the only coat she has ffs
Oh cry me a river why don't you? He was bringing in £3-5000 a week of dirty money, so her only having one coat is a load of bollocks...pink aswell, shameful.

The peculiarity in situations like this is that for all the sympathy and protection that we want his children to have, they may either be already or they will be turning out just like him in the future. Its very likely to happen like that

At which point do they also become people we dont sympathise with?

And yet might it be better to get them out of that situation and give them help and guidance? No child is a lost cause, and if we just go oh they are bad already the situation just perpetuates. I actually think the children would be better off completely away from the family that have enabled the dads behaviour.

Godzillaisjusthangry · 01/04/2023 08:40

That's what I was thinking, there's no way she couldn't know. I was trying to be charitable and think well maybe because they got together so young the drug dealing was normalised from an early age, but do you think she knew about the violence as well?

I'm trying to wrap my head around thinking that was a sustainable lifestyle to bring kids into! I mean surely you'd be thinking this is a shit storm I can't bring kids into?

You cannot separate drug dealing from violence and all the other shit that goes with it...People trafiking, abuse, violence, sex crimes etc...drugs finance crime

The getaway driver pleaded guilty to driving him away from the scene. The trial was just media barred until this trial had concluded, so they did have a witness say he was there.

He is accountable. He was the criminal. He killed an innocent little girl. Not his wife or his family.

Given half the posts on here are about people, predominantly women, who were blindsided by the actions of their partner, it’s interesting that most posters are claiming of course she knew!

dooneyousmugelf · 01/04/2023 10:36

All the 'crime families' round here know full well what goes on, don't particularly hide what goes on and are proud of the clout and money it provides them. I'm guessing it's the same in this situation.

I think the police should look into if she assisted him in anyway. But I imagine they have they aren't thick

Of course they fucking did! However there was a ring of steel, consisting of threats and violence, to silence anyone and keep his protection.
