The daily fail have really gone after Thomas Cashman's partner in the paper today, painting her as a gangsters moll.

Do you think she really knew what he was up to? What's the feeling in Liverpool towards her?

AIBU to feel sorry for his kids and wonder what kind of life they will have now? his son and daughter are also victims in this horrible tragedy now. It's so sad.

She lived off the proceeds of his crimes for years she knew what he was and didn't care. She isn't responsible for the death of Olivia, but let's not pretend she isn't a cog in this wheel.

Exactly, she lived of the proceeds of crime and of course she knew. I thought it was despicable the way she was dressed up to the 9s in pink glasses and coat when she went to court. If she was remorseful or devastated at the loss of Olivia’s life, then I believe she would have dressed in a more demure manner. Just disgusting.

VeryApple · 01/04/2023 10:47

I wouldn't say everyone, no, just those of a...similar lifestyle...and the innocent people unfortunate enough to live around them. Then word spreads quickly on social media, rightly or wrongly. I'm absolutely not saying it's okay to identify people in this way while police investigations and/or court cases are ongoing, just that it happens.

That's what I thought. I wouldn't have a clue until near the end of the rumor mill

megletthesecond · 01/04/2023 10:53

His whole scummy family will be the same.

There's a similar family in my estate, one lad in prison for drugs and guns. So many neighbours are polite to them, "salt of the earth" types apparently. I blank the whole shitty lot of them.

VeryApple · 01/04/2023 10:55

Oh yes, I certainly don't want to present myself as someone 'in the know' to any special extent, I'm just local. And if a random, average person like me knew, then it spread fast and far.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 01/04/2023 10:57

I think she knew but maybe turned a blind eye-denial maybe. Having said that if I knew that about my husband I would've dumped him years ago. He was a violent man though. Maybe she was scared of repercussions if she left him.

Emigratingimmigrant · 01/04/2023 10:09

Considering he has exs, yes

Uh, I have knowledge I'd really rather not have of the sort of dynamics that could be at play there.

If the man decides to leave you, you're alright (as long as you behave in the way he decrees; be careful if/whom you date afterwards, that sort of thing). He might even keep an element of protection over you in case somebody decides you're the way to get to him.

What you don't do is leave him. You don't boot him out, you don't even think about meeting somebody else. Add having his children to the mix and you will know he will find you wherever you go/somebody will inform him and when he finds you, you will regret ever going for the rest of your life which may not be for long. Or if somebody else knows who you are, you and your children have no protection at all.

What I don’t understand is, why were the family surprised that he was found guilty? I read an article which said Cashman’s sister said that he had been set up etc. I don’t understand how they’re pleading his innocence when Olivia’s mum literally saw the events unfold in front of her.

Are they trying to say it wasn’t him who killed her? He’d been set up to chase the Nee guy? It all doesn’t make much sense but I have no clue why they were all so surprised

Jury intimidation. ‘We know where you live’

it didn’t work this time, but usually…..

Godzillaisjusthangry · 01/04/2023 11:03

Do you think Cashman is in greater danger now he's been locked up? there must be some very dangerous well connected people worried about what he might say. That would put his family at greater risk as they can easily get to them.

People are talking about his family being supported by the gangs but surely those same gangs are worried he'll turn on them.

Violent not violent, if you shack up with this type, I simply have no sympathy and refuse to see the person as victim

Whenever a man does something shit they always go after a woman too. It implies it was her job to keep him in check and I've got not time for it.

And in cases like these, they bloody well should! She's been living the high life off the backs of other people's misery, a decent person would have shopped him as soon as she knew he'd killed that little girl! I hope she loses everything, including her kids, they deserve a life away from that whole disgusting scene

Dregs of society

I raise this issue each time people boast on here about drug use, they always justify it as 'I get mine from a bloke down the road who only grows for him', its all rubbish and each step of the rung is involved in various drugs, both legal and illegal used for recreation purposes, exploitation of children, prostitution, violence, death.

Personally I think it should be legalised but while its not, each interaction with dealers/sellers/growers is all part of the problem

Exactly my view. People will always crave drugs, including alcohol and nicotine. Legalise them with every aspect of the manufacture, sale and distribution regulated, tax them so we cover the cost of health care, rehab and regulation, plus a contribution to general public spending, get it out of the hands of organised crime.

Then you'd have even more users and addicts.

Gambling and alcohol are legal, has it reduced the problems these cause? no.

Legalisation might get rid of criminality but it would do nothing for the damage drugs do.

Anyway, plenty of boot leg fags and booze, with criminal gangs organising this too, once you stick VAT and taxes on a product, someone will seek to avoid them.

Back to Cashman, it was his previous girlfriend who dobbed him into the Police, not all "Molls" support shooting children.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 01/04/2023 11:31

Prohibition in the US did nothing to reduce alcohol dependence, just gave organised crime a huge boost.

Look at smoking. Hugely fashionable and glamorous in the early 20th century. Public health campaigns turned that round by persuading people to give up or cut down.

Endlesssummer2022 · 01/04/2023 11:40

Her kids are probably already in the life. Given she had the first one in her teens, they won’t be little kids anymore.

Also the entire criminal underworld in Liverpool knew who’d done it and tried to protect him. She will also be looked after now he’s been out away so need to worry about her.

Why do you think all of their stuff was rented?

Mirabai · 01/04/2023 11:41

Full respect to the woman who testified against him. She really stood up to his QC.

Whichnumbers · 01/04/2023 11:45

I mean surely you'd be thinking this is a shit storm I can't bring kids into?

If you could think the above then you wouldn't be with him. There is the naivety that people don't get hurt, that its ok its not as bad as x y or z The fact she sat in court and listen to his mistress...

torquewench · 01/04/2023 11:48

ClassicLib · 01/04/2023 09:59

That’s pretty naive. Cashman is obviously good looking, he’s loaded, therefore he could provide his partner & her children with an enviable lifestyle, he was respected / feared by people, from which he derived social status in his community. For a working class young woman with no qualifications & few options, being with him might seem a better option than working in Greggs.

Im not naive. "Obviously good looking? No. That's subjective (and beauty is only skin deep). As is the "enviable" lifestyle. I'm working class. I personally dont envy anyone who leeches off other people the way Cashman did. And his other woman would've known exactly what he was.

Probably one of the reasons the court case was held in Manchester and not Liverpool

girlfriend44 · 01/04/2023 11:55

Is this for real?

Of course she knew.
Glad the incomes stopped now hope she loses everything and any money he made gets taken away from his bank account.

Scum of the earth lot. Get a normal, honest job, like everyone else.
He's the one got to feel sorry for his kids, but he didn't care about them so why should anyone else feel sorry.

The person I feel most sorry for is the little girl he killed and her mum.

So glad his bit on the side grassed him up. She was praised for coming forward.

Wonder if his missus knew he was seeing someone else, she does now.
Couldn't even admit what he'd done, and his family couldn't face up to it either.
He cried in the Dock for himself and his family mouthed off.

Vile lot.

What is sad is that you are feeling sorry for his kids and not mentioning the little girl he killed and her family.

He should feel sorry for his own kids it's his business. He chose to do what he did. Absolutely his choice and his partners choice to stay with him.

Crabwoman · 01/04/2023 12:04

Course she bloody knew what he was doing! I've lived on Merseyside all my life, and like any major city, there is another significant industry running alongside all the legitimate businesses.

You can spot the grafters a mile away. Black Audi, tracksuit, valentino trainers, Turkey teeth and an Alcatel mobile. It's a uniform. They are usually not physical or intellectual powerhouses, yet have disproportionately attractive women.

I know women who's sole purpose is to bag a footballer or drug dealer so they can fund a lavish life style. If they bag the latter, then you can guarantee they'll open a beauty salon or tanning ship to run the money through.

As for his family, the steel cage of protection Cashman gave them will now be gone. And they will be loathed by all but a few close allies. They will have the fear big time.

Whichnumbers · 01/04/2023 12:07

Full respect to the woman who testified against him. She really stood up to his QC

she was requested to calm down and her corker was he had a small willy....

The QC said it was revenge and she said Ive ruined my life for this (in protected custody I guess)

Sarahconnor1 · 01/04/2023 12:07

Some people on this thread are so naive about the culture that surrounds these gangs, their families and hangers on.

They all know what these men do, none of them care as long as the money keeps rolling in. And very few care about who gets caught in the cross fire.

Nothing has changed since the murder of Rhys Jones.
