If you work in education has any child gone on to be famous or notorious?

Having a chat with a colleague today and she said that a child we taught she thought would be a famous footballer when older.

I just wondered if anyone, who works in education, has taught a child who went on to become famous or notorious?

I taught Pritt Patel, an A level revision course, it never appears on her CV and her time spent at the college never appears....she was so polite and nice and a perfect student, i had tabloids contacting me for dirt on her but i refused to comment and only said how nice she was.

I was taught by a 1970s rock star. His band had a bit of a resurgence in the late 80s and he once spent half term touring Germany. Lovely man.

I was a tutor ( adult education at A4e) to Kevin Andrews - a complete psycho - put noxious fluids in tea urn on several occasions - I often wonder where he is now 👍🏿

Sort of I am a teacher but this one comes from when I used to run a Brownie unit, and before that I helped out at the same unit, one of my brownies was Victoria Sugden in Emmerdale.

One of my daughters teachers was a child actor in Grandpa in my pocket!

I worked in theatre with one of the child actors who went on to be a child actor in Grandpa in my pocket.

So many murderers on this thread!
I was a TA not a teacher but there are definitely children who I would not be surprised if their names popped up in the news in the future...

Tillow4ever · 28/03/2023 19:23

Not in education myself, but my Psychology A-level teacher taught Emile Heskey (footballer) English!

Retired65 · 28/03/2023 19:25

I taught a boy who went on to represent Great Britain as a Gymnast. He used to have a lot of time off to train and take part in competitions.

spanieleyes · 27/03/2023 18:59

I taught a double murderer.

@spanieleyes did you suspect they could be capable of that as a child?

I was thinking of Lucy Letby; but sadly there are several possibilities.

Lucy Letby is still on trial, and has not yet been found guilty.

Are you in Essex?

Ticktockwoof · 28/03/2023 19:36

I taught quite a few children of celebrities, some of whom went on to become famous in their own right (well, sort of, I suspect if they hadn’t had famous parents they may not have found fame themselves!).

I used to teach in Essex, many years ago. I no longer live there.

leonairs · 28/03/2023 19:39

@Retired65 think I know who it is! Taught the same boy... South Essex Gymnastics club

My uncle taught Mo Farah running classes when he was about 12yo.

Your uncle was clearly a very good running teacher!

Sorry no idea my friend is a few years older than me and had left school by the time I started

Boopydoo · 27/03/2023 23:32

If you mean Secondary school then I went to that same school many years ago, but doubt I was taught by your parent (I'm too old lol)

Was it HDS? That was my secondary school too until yr9 :)

Scotslass171 · 28/03/2023 19:47

Also apparently one of her friends asked him out at the time and he allegedly told her she wasn't pretty enough!!!!!

There is nothing nice about her.

PurpleFlower1983 · 28/03/2023 19:50

My brother in law taught George Barnet (Ezra).

I was a college student at an infants school on placement back in 1994. There was one kid that looked really miserable and serious, you could never get a smile out of him. He’s notorious for currently in a Romanian prison with equally odious brother.

@Longdistance andrew Tate?

well she has changed a lot .... and from my knowledge of her, i just know that a lot of her immigration ideas were not hers....she followed all the instructions and syllabus to the absolute letter, not a lot of imagination.

Workyticket · 28/03/2023 19:58

My colleagues taught Liam Lyburn who is now in jail for planning to blow up the college. I stated just after he left.

They all said he had the potential to be very dangerous

wejammin · 28/03/2023 19:58

One of my kids' current teachers taught Harry Kane PE at infant school - she says she gave him his first football lesson, aged 4 🥰

WildAloofRebel · 28/03/2023 19:59

I would say that all celebs have had teachers. So the answer to your question is yes, loads. There are at least 3 famous people who went to my schools.
