Led by donkeys - enough is enough

Bloody hell, I’ve just watched the new “led by donkeys” video. People like Matt Hancock wanting to work for a fake consultancy firm for obscene amounts of cash.

I cannot tell You how angry MPs make me right now.

I have a relative that is an NHS dr on £14 an hour. She pays for her own travel and parking. All her study… she pays for. She is so busy she sometimes doesn’t eat.

then these idiots earn loads, and then claim back loads of expenses. Disgusting in my opinion. They then get second jobs that pay them £10k a day. Without even checking if company is real first.

In my opinion an mp should only take a second job if it’s in the nhs, army etc or a volunteer job for a registered charity. That’s it. No other reason.

I can’t even process this. I’ve had enough. What on earth can we do to change this? And yes I’ll not be voting Tory at the next election. They are a bunch of posh rich boys that want to just look after themselves. Politics should be more diverse. what on earth can we do?

Firstly, those that are having a go at whoever decided to vote Tory……get a grip, it’s a personal choice. As for this led by donkeys thing, not seen it, never heard of it and you do have the ability to turn the tv over! Nobody has forced you to watch it. I swear to Lucifer, this country has more moaners than those that do any good!

Maybe you should watch the Led by Donkeys interviews. Then perhaps you’ll be able to make a meaningful contribution.

Ah-ha, now I have found your 'magic solution.'

Personally, leaving the EU has caused huge issues, which i would never have done and i wouldn't of had 10 years of 0 or 1 % pay rises nor removed the bursary & i wouldn't have a situation where carers are paid NMW, its a skilled role.

Leaving the EU was the result of a democratic vote, so that can't be changed.

Keeping wages in line with inflation as you suggest causes a wage/price spiral and the fear that this ratcheting effect will make double-digit inflation a longstanding feature of life in the UK.

There are 32.84m people in employment in the UK, and if all of them receive pay rises that matched the current inflation rate it would prove to be a crippling bill for employers, including local and central government.

Nope because i would never have had a vote, which was far from democratic and where exactly does it say we can only ever have one vote?

Quite why you include 32m people in a solution to solve nhs recruitment and retention is beyond me, we are talking about at most approx 1m workers, none of which charge the public for their services, so pay rises wouldn't be passed on, so none of this right wing bollox about wage rise inflation spirals.

Might help not to call me a "uninformed leftie" if you don't like "loony right" and then hit the report button.

Absolutely.

What's really galling is that when you ask the 'moaning minnies' for a solution you get 'I'm not a politician'. !!

Some people need to get a life (and maybe a job !)

Blossomtoes · 29/03/2023 09:58

Oh, the irony. I see you’ve now resorted to insult and abandoned any attempt at rational debate.

So you've never had a vote yet you moan about this country from morning 'til night? I've heard it all now.🙄

Not “I’ve never had a vote”. It was pretty obvious what was meant to anyone with any degree of reading comprehension who wasn’t being deliberately provocative.

Lets spell it out for you, i wouldn't have had a EU referendum but then again you knew exactly what i said.

More personal attacks.

GoodChat · 29/03/2023 10:06

How are people so strongly opinionated on either side? We're in such an impossible political position at the moment. I don't understand the forceful commitment to either party, especially the Conservatives.

YoungMotherHubbardsDog · 29/03/2023 10:07

@beguilingeyes The referendum was non-binding. If it wasn't it would have been declared illegal down to the actions of the leave campaign.

Now that is a moot point.

https://fullfact.org/europe/was-eu-referendum-advisory/

Was the EU referendum “advisory”? - Full Fact

A referendum can be legally non-binding but, arguably, politically binding.

Doesn't matter whether it was legally binding or not, Cameron told us it would be honoured and it has.

But like all votes, we can have another, just as we have lots of other votes that over turn the result of previous ones.

Why do you think @GPTec1 needs a translator?

TBF You don't really need to be particularly intelligent to know what "I wouldn't have had an EU referendum" means.

Very surprising anyone finds this confusing but such has been the fall in educational standards in the UK.

I can't wait until labour mess up again so people can stop being rude to those who vote Tory.

Crikeyalmighty · 29/03/2023 10:36

Interesting those of you going on about Iraq seem to forget that this was voted on by parliament- it was not all down to one person. You mention about the flawed information- well the Brexit referendum had the leave campaign busily saying that nothing would change, remember the 'we too could be like Norway, you will be able to work , live, conduct business' as before kind of complete bollocks they were putting out..'we hold all the cards' !! Turns out we held fuck all, so certain things are only possible if you have a very in demand specialist skill, pots of money to fulfill immigration criteria or a business with multi national offices. - and the big sweetener about immigration- well yesterday our business centre was full of non white , non Europeans doing immigration visas--families- not single young Europeans here maybe for a few years, large families who will undoubtedly stay. I don't have an issue with this but I do have an issue that people were fed utter baloney and consequently most of us have now lost many rights we had previously.

Pennycrown · 29/03/2023 10:37

So she might not be an mp now.. but others are in the situation where they are claiming this sort of money.

My point being.. we are paying over the odds for £105000 per year for the role..whether it be West yorkshire or another monetary value somewhere else.. there are more dwellings paying that amount in council tax than the £105000.. so where is the extra money going?

raffegiraffe · 29/03/2023 10:56

Doctors in training are not students. They are 'junior doctors' until consultant or non training grade. Sometimes well into your thirties.
My oncalls were paid at about £9 an hour all in so can definitely believe that £14 an hour will be about right for some on calls. Lots of unpaid overtime because you can't just leave it . The pay is complicated. Basic plus an on call supplement that varies depending on intensity and frequency.

Quite, Bojo even lied about staying in the Erasmus scheme, a scheme Braverman used herself before voting and campaigning to make sure our kids wouldn't be able use it too.

I think it's been coming a while but Brexit really accelerated the footballisation, if that's even a word, of politics. Everyone has picked a side and vehemently opposes the other side. We're getting like the Americans.
The politicians themselves are no better. Prime Minister's Questions is embarrassing, they just trade insults and 'jokes' and the speaker is so rubbish he letsthem get away with it.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing and I am quite happy to honestly point out that I had no idea the difficulties that leaving the EU would mean for Northern Ireland,, but I did at the time think the issues involved with the EU were far to complicated for me to understand.

It is of course impossible to have no border between NI and the Republic of Ireland (and by extension the rest of the EU) and no border between NI and the rest of the UK, if there is a border between the EU and the UK.

Anyone supporting a referendum one of the options for which is impossible to implement is if you ask me somewhat foolish.
