Led by donkeys - enough is enough

Bloody hell, I’ve just watched the new “led by donkeys” video. People like Matt Hancock wanting to work for a fake consultancy firm for obscene amounts of cash.

I cannot tell You how angry MPs make me right now.

I have a relative that is an NHS dr on £14 an hour. She pays for her own travel and parking. All her study… she pays for. She is so busy she sometimes doesn’t eat.

then these idiots earn loads, and then claim back loads of expenses. Disgusting in my opinion. They then get second jobs that pay them £10k a day. Without even checking if company is real first.

In my opinion an mp should only take a second job if it’s in the nhs, army etc or a volunteer job for a registered charity. That’s it. No other reason.

I can’t even process this. I’ve had enough. What on earth can we do to change this? And yes I’ll not be voting Tory at the next election. They are a bunch of posh rich boys that want to just look after themselves. Politics should be more diverse. what on earth can we do?

Besides I don’t think it is helpful to blame those that voted Tory last time. It does not help the future at all. Not does it do anything but anger people that could possibly vote for something else.

its like telling a kid that fell over and broke their arm that it’s their own fault.

not sure anyone could have predicted Covid, parties, I’m a celeb, snogging, Boris lying to this extent, rishi getting in, etc. it’s a soap opera!

Yet so many did see that in the future

Not quite what I was getting at.

You don't think it is a scandal that some doctors are paid £14 an hour?

They are not and I put proof with my last answer. I also work in the NHS. No doctor gets £14 an hour.

Covid cost the country around 400 to 500 billion max.

Good to see you admit the Tories have totally mis managed the economy by borrowing so much.

Maybe if they concentrated on policy rather than the greed that we can all see, the UK wouldn't owe so much?

UK general government gross debt was £2,436.7 billion at the end of Quarter 2 (Apr to June) 2022, equivalent to 101.9% of gross domestic product (GDP). UK general government deficit (or net borrowing) was £43.9 billion in Quarter 2 2022, equivalent to 7.2% of GDP.

It sounds like you want it both ways?

The government was between a rock and a hard place with Covid.

'Locking down' would save lives but damage the economy. Faced with the estimates of 100,000s of deaths the government tried to save lives, so the economy took a hit.

All the furloughs and business grants have to be paid back - I don't know how you can say that Good to see you admit the Tories have totally mis managed the economy by borrowing so much.

If you recall it was original government policy to not ' lock down' and let 'herd immunity' develop, but then Labour were yelling that the 'hateful' Tories were murdering old folks.

They couldn't win either way.

Starmer was yelling for a lockdown in 2021 btw

MPs probably need to be paid more to attract decent people and for them not to have to take second jobs. Unpopular opinion I know!

They do not HAVE TO take second jobs

DuncinToffee · 28/03/2023 18:45

UK's borrowing highest in 30 years, UK to be only major economy to shrink in 2023 but Starmer would have us all still in lockdown Confused

Parliament is packed with millionaires, they aren't there for the salary, no matter how high you made it.

Hybrid WFH, no fixed hours, very generous expenses package, inc paying your partner a very good wage to be your "office manager" and £87k p.a oh and a pension none of us will ever have, oh x 2 - a fixed no chance of redundancy 5 year contract too! oh x 3 AND you get to vote through your own pay rise!!!

How much higher do you want it to be to attract "normal" people on average wage?

LlynTegid · 28/03/2023 18:52

@DuncinToffee If Keir Starmer, or indeed Michael Gove or Jeremy Hunt, had been Prime Minister in 2020, we would have had shorter periods of so-called lockdown. They would have been shorter, probably less disruptive to the economy, and certainly less to physical and mental health.

All three of them would never have had a party culture in Downing Street either.

Not according to some poster on here

Sorry is this satire? I can't always tell on these threads. Starmer would've had longer lockdowns, he was on about the 'Johnson variation' July 2021 and wanged on about Armeggedon if BJ didn't act. Ditto Hunt i believe he was keen on stronger measures. No idea about Gove. But Stamer would most deffo have had schools and everything else shut for 2 years at least. We'd probably just be allowed in the garden in groups of no more than 6 as we speak.

@Thisisvenus where there are humans and power there is the capacity for corruption, but please name me a Labour government who has even come close to the catastrophe of this current Tory government.

Saying they are all the same gives people the wrong impression that their vote doesn’t count, and in a time of national emergency it’s the last message we need.

Each and every person upset by the corrupt self serving ways of this government needs to be out voting Labour (or whichever party in their constituency is likely to unseat the Tory) so we get them out. We can’t as a country survive another four years plundering.

It never said ‘junior’ it said doctor which anyone would assume is qualified. Apprentices always work for a low wage and then reap the benefits.

I think the satire is generally obvious @Janiie For example when someone is saying that 56 year olds need birthday parties, but not children, because alcohol is essential for work in government, they have to be joking surely?

You are the second poster on this thread that claims to work in the NHS but not know what a junior doctor is. Strange.

"Lord’ loooool did you not see I got my information from google."

Then you'll know that Payscale is a software and compensation company based in America. I'd suggest it lacks in-depth knowledge of NHS pay scales.

I thought perhaps the clue to it being American in origin was the use of the word physician...

Herd immunity isn't possible with COVID. It's a constantly mutating virus.

Herd immunity isn't possible with COVID. It's a constantly mutating virus.

Yes, we know that now, but we didn't know it then.

Likewise we didn't know the effects on the body until post mortem studies could be done, and for that people had to die for us to gain knowledge.

And again we didn't know which people were most clinically vulnerable to the disease until certain groups of people died in sufficient numbers to be statistically significant.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing 🙄

How about Tony Blair taking UK into an unnecessary war that cost £billions because he wanted to be Bush's 'poodle' and a national hero?

(To say nothing of the cost of our soldiers' lives)

According to the Ministry of Defence, the total cost of UK military operations in Iraq from 2003 to 2009 was £8.4bn.

That's what I call 'plundering'.
