To think I will be judged on holiday and plane about my size?

40 something, 5.8 tall, size 20-22, hoping to feel confident enough to wear a bikini or tankini around the pool on my coming holiday.

Would you be judging me on how I look? Thinking "I'm glad I don't look like her" and/or "what on earth does she think she looks like?"

Would you be looking over at me on the plane to see if I can fasten my seat belt? To see if I have to ask for an extender? To see me become flustered if I can't fasten my seat belt and have to ask for an extender?

Interested to hear your honest thoughts.

I wouldn't be looking at anyone else at all. I'd be hanging on to my seat arms and hoping the plane doesn't crash.

I from the Netherlands and in summer I often go to the local beach here in a bikini.And i am size 18. A lot of German tourists come here and often the woman are quite “big” and wear bikinis proudly, so I do too! However a few weeks ago I went to the UK, cp holiday. And I was the only bigger woman in a bikini. I felt really unsure about it. So i do think it depends on your destination.

If someone looks happy on their holiday, I think that's the main thing. Screw what anyone else thinks. Im jealous you're getting on holiday at all, so go and enjoy it!

No, I wouldn't be looking at you, nor wondering anything about you, or about anyone else I don't know. I'm sorry if this sounds blunt, but I generally ignore random strangers. I'm sure lots of people do. Enjoy your break and try not to dwell too much on what others may think (they'll be minding their own business anyway).

Yes I'd definitely be looking at you for the right reasons! I would be wishing I could be as confident as you to wear a bikini but know I never will. Go for it and have a fab holiday!

I’d be bothered about you getting sitting next to me on the plane because at a size 22 you probably are going to encroach on my space.
but I absolutely would not care about you wearing a bikini, if you feel confident then go for it. Life is short

If I saw you in a bikini, if I thought about you at all (in between wrangling my children) I would think you were fabulous.

I'm a size 4/6 with not a stretch mark in sight but I also have a permanent line in and a scar that looks like 30cm zip right down my front and like Adam, no tummy button. Do I care what anyone else wears or if they think I might frighten small children and animals? Do I fuck. Wear your bikini with pride and enjoy your holiday.

Honestly, I would neither notice nor care. Your body is not my business.

Unless you are sitting next to me and you are using half my seat as well as your own, as a woman did on a recent flight. Then it is my business and I do have the right to care. The woman in half my seat was a real dick about it as well.

When I last went abroad I loved how women, no matter their size were in bikinis. I was feeling self conscious after baby no.2 when I arrived but soon felt totally empowered and realised nobody gave a shit. Wear what you like OP.

The plane maybe. To be honest there’s not much else to do but people watch. I always hope I get someone fun to sit next to and not the dull grumpy one. Smelly or fat ( or just massive/ tall) impinges on my space so I would grumble inwardly.

On holiday I think it’s perfectly normal to be in a bikini whatever age, size or shape you are. It’s not as if you’re fooling anyone with a skirt or shorts type outfit.Just rock the body you have. I don’t actually give people who don’t care what they look like in a bikini , a second glance. Weirdly I also think fatter people look better without clothes. I also think really thin people look pretty odd without clothes in real life.

Wear that bikini. And treat yourself to a proper sarong too. I've got loads from yoursarong dot co dot uk. Came in handy in last year's heatwave too at home!

On the plane, I'd be busier trying not to think about all of the disaster movies I've ever seen in my life and to refrain from clawing the fuck out of the arm of whatever unfortunate bastard happened to be sitting next to me.

At the pool, I'd be thinking 'I wonder how long this sunblock will last before I have to apply another layer?' and 'They said they'd be able to cater for a gluten free diet - I hope they actually meant it, because I don't think I can go 14 days on just Antipasto. Ten, maybe, but 14 would be a push.' And 'I wish DP felt confident to go into the water instead of hiding in the hotel room wearing jeans, a long sleeved t-shirt and complaining that it's too hot'.

I'm not even slightly concerned about a woman of any size wearing a bikini. If you're happy and smiling and confident you will look amazing!!! Good energy is the most attractive thing.

No! Wear the bikini, feel confident, laugh, have fun and enjoy your holiday. In all honesty I would maybe look at you, but it would be enviously as it's a damn long time since I've had the confidence to wear a bikini.

I’d be too busy with my own hang ups op! I wouldn’t give you a second thought in a bikini, I’d find it more weird if you were sitting round the pool completely covered up. Do people really watch on the plane to see if you request an extender? If they do you should judge them for being twats!

Honest? I wouldn't care about the plane stuff but by the pool, I'd probably think she'd look better if she covered her up a bit.
