Thisisnotreallymyname · 25/03/2023 19:24

My husband thinks his head would drop off if he didn’t have his traditional Sunday roast.

i’ve tried to explain that it’s not like it was 20 yrs ago !

So - tomorrow are you having

a) A traditional Sunday Roast
b) a different at home meal
c)eating out
d) something else

B. Don’t have the equipment for a roast dinner (tiny rubbish gas oven). DH isn’t fussed. DS not old enough to have a preference. We’re having toad in the hole.

IloveJudgeJudy · 25/03/2023 19:42

We're having a roast as both DSs and their girlfriends are back for the weekend. DD is cooking!

We definitely don't always have a roast.

cloudyskye · 25/03/2023 19:44

I didn’t grow up in a roast household and don’t know how to cook them. DH does but he’s working tomorrow. I’m making myself pasta with roast veg instead.

GoodChat · 25/03/2023 19:44

How do grown adults not know how to cook? Just google it.

mbosnz · 25/03/2023 19:45

We're doing home-made sushi.

RaininSummer · 25/03/2023 19:45

We will have curry again as partner made two today whilst I was at work. I am not keen on roast dinners so happy with that.

Cakeandcardio · 25/03/2023 19:45

We are having homemade lasagne. I would cook a Sunday roast every second week on average. But I love them and I do all the work.

Crancod · 25/03/2023 19:45

I do enjoy a roast but it must be 10 years since we had one at home, save for around the holidays.

WishingMyLifeAway · 25/03/2023 19:47

We are going out for a Sunday roast but we don't eat or go out for one every Sunday....I would love to but can't be bothered with all the cooking and washing up and can't eat out every week!

mamaduckbone · 25/03/2023 19:47

We are having a Sunday roast tomorrow but we don't every week. We do usually have something fairly traditional and meaty on a Sunday but it might be:

  • toad in the hole
  • shepherd's pie
  • steak or chicken pie
  • pork, leek and cider casserole
A few times recently we've had completely un-Sundayish meals and whilst it feels a bit weird it does actually stop me getting the Sunday sads about it being the end of the weekend.
mamaduckbone · 25/03/2023 19:48

Oh, and Dh will cook it as I'm out until dinner timeSmile

BCBird · 25/03/2023 19:48

I.love a Sunday roast and woukd happily eat one two or three times a week. Onli.me here so I can't be bothered to make it.

BCBird · 25/03/2023 19:49

If he likes it so much get him.to do it. I do love it but think it is a lot of faff🙄

VestaTilley · 25/03/2023 19:50

A. At my DPs, but we usually have one on Sunday if we’re at home, but I wouldn’t do it just because my husband expects it! If your DH wants one, he needs to cook it.

Shoppingforclothes · 25/03/2023 19:51

We have a roast every Sunday during winter. However, Sundays are a bit of a write off anyway due to dc having football, we don't make a big fuss over the roast, usually a chicken, stuffing, roast potatoes and steamed veg, so takes a couple of hours.

Your dh should take a turn cooking the roast if he wants one, not fair to expect you to do it all the time.

BreviloquentBastard · 25/03/2023 19:53

We've got friends coming over so we're doing a big pot of Jambalaya. Haven't had a Sunday roast since I lived at home with my mam, Sundays are my lazy day so I'm sure as shit not spending the entire day piss arseing around in the kitchen doing a roast.

NortieTortie · 25/03/2023 19:53

Tomorrow having stir fry. We have Sunday roast dinners maybe once a month. It's the amount of washing up that puts me off more than anything

SetebosMoon · 25/03/2023 19:54

We almost always do a roast on a Sunday

Doublechins · 25/03/2023 19:54

Love a roast but I'd get bored if we had one every week. Going to scrub the house top to bottom tomorrow so it will be a takeaway to avoid messing it all up again.

Tekkentime · 25/03/2023 19:54

A) Love a roast and don't find it hard to make.

Lastofyou · 25/03/2023 19:54

A!

Have a roast a few times a month (always Sundays)

Isyesterdaytomorrowtoday · 25/03/2023 19:54

Last Sunday we had a roast, tomorrow it’s a slow cooker chicken thing with noodles.

I generally like to have a bigish meal mid afternoon on Sundays but that doesn’t have to be a full roast

Wilkolampshade · 25/03/2023 19:54

It'll be today's leftovers or something completely random. Needs to be extra tasty as I have covid. And also super easy as also, covid. 😳

Mammyloveswine · 25/03/2023 19:55

Big breakfast out after swimming so probs soup at tea time!

SetebosMoon · 25/03/2023 19:56

Doing roast beef tomorrow, Yorkshires, roast pots, kale, corn and carrots with gravy and horseradish sauce

Highlight of our week and we all eat together and invite the adult kids and partners who have left back.
