Thisisnotreallymyname · 25/03/2023 19:24

My husband thinks his head would drop off if he didn’t have his traditional Sunday roast.

i’ve tried to explain that it’s not like it was 20 yrs ago !

So - tomorrow are you having

a) A traditional Sunday Roast
b) a different at home meal
c)eating out
d) something else

A) but it's not a usual thing for me. I'm caring for a family member who has a similar opinion to your partner.

Epicstorm · 25/03/2023 19:26

Is he going to cook it?

AuntieMarys · 25/03/2023 19:26

We are going out for a Sunday lunch. I never cook one!!!

PuttingDownRoots · 25/03/2023 19:28

Going out for belated mothers day meal.

Rarely cook a full on roast dinner.

kitsuneghost · 25/03/2023 19:28

I hate Sunday roasts. We normally have takeaway. Getting bored with takeaway so need something else with minimal cook.
Maybe pizza or jacket potato

GoodChat · 25/03/2023 19:29

We're having a Sunday roast but we don't have them every week, and DP cooks them

kitsuneghost · 25/03/2023 19:30

Epicstorm · 25/03/2023 19:26

Is he going to cook it?

Exactly. Tell him he can have what he likes so long as he cooks or even buys it.

wednesdayrobyn · 25/03/2023 19:30

B, I do like a roast dinner but we only have them a few times a year. As a kid though we did have a roast dinner most Sundays.

gogohmm · 25/03/2023 19:31

I like a roast but not fixated on it. Not sure yet, need to go shopping

Demeter1978 · 25/03/2023 19:31

We only have a full roast in the autumn and winter but even then not every weekend. Tomorrow we are having chicken chasseur, rice and broccoli.

SeeWhatYouGetWhenYouAskAStupidQuestion · 25/03/2023 19:31

Eating out. Sod all that cooking malarkey

TomatoSandwiches · 25/03/2023 19:31

He can cook a roast if he wants it can't he?

We will be having a substantial homemade lasange with salad and Berry bake with custard for pudding.

Groutyonehereagain · 25/03/2023 19:33

Roast chicken, stuffing, roast potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli, peas and gravy. My Sunday roast is my favourite meal of the week. We almost always have a roast on Sunday. We had beef last week, pork the week before, next week we’re having lamb.

StaceyMeloni · 25/03/2023 19:33

A, but we only have a roast dinner occasionally and only during winter. I usually make lasagne on Sundays 😋

RandomExpletive · 25/03/2023 19:33

We have friends over and I’m doing pulled pork, three salads, potatoes and mango & passionfruit cheesecake

not a normal Sunday! We often have brunch and a soup/sandwich/omelette for supper

OrangeSofa1 · 25/03/2023 19:34

We will have a roast tomorrow as could be the last one for a while, it is a winter Sunday meal! Summer Sundays always a bbq.

Thisisnotreallymyname · 25/03/2023 19:35

I do the cooking - quite happily. He doesn’t / can’t cook, never has.
But equally he mows the lawn, does the other house stuff, that I have no interest whatsoever in doing ! . Quite a traditional household.

Roast dinner here , definitely a family favourite . But I'm just as happy to cook anything . And we don't do one every Sunday

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 25/03/2023 19:36

B but we had one last week as it was the dog’s birthday 😂.

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 25/03/2023 19:36

I did not grow up in a ‘roast’ household but I love them. I’m bloody good at them too!

I do roast a joint of meat or a whole chicken every week but don’t always do the whole hog (pun intended). I’m single so roasting a joint / chicken feeds me for a good few days. It’s cost effective for me.

Tomorrow, I’m poaching a chicken in a white wine stock and roasting new potatoes (they're not Jersey Royals so this isn’t sacrilege!). Going to do poached carrots and asparagus.

hidethexylophone · 25/03/2023 19:38

We all love a roast but not every week - and very rarely in the summer!

Tomorrow we're having home made chicken and bacon pie with mash and veg.

Hoolihan · 25/03/2023 19:39

Couldn't afford a roast every week even if I wanted to cook it, which I don't! We have one maybe once a month in winter and not at all in summer.

OldTinHat · 25/03/2023 19:39

I live on my own so will just have soup!

SouthCountryGirl · 25/03/2023 19:40

I'm away at the moment. I do like them but can't be arsed to do one as a single person! Usually only have one at Christmas

Lulu2171 · 25/03/2023 19:40

Roast lamb tomorrow yum! Most weekends, we're not very traditional, but we just really like it and it feels good to have a special meal on a Sunday.
