To ask why my buggy is permanently covered in dog shit?!!

Mummypig32 · 21/03/2023 18:49

I push a double buggy. I'm out and about a lot, walks, baby naps, school run etc. It's a really nice buggy as well, most expensive thing I ever bought and I love it.

Sadly it's now fucking revolting and I'm considering just setting the whole thing on fire.

Every day I seem to end up with dog shit on the wheels. I dont have a dog. I used to like dogs now I fucking detest the vile creatures and the morons who own them. I'm sorry to all the good dog owners out there but I am so SICK of having to sit with a stick and scrape smelly revolting POO put of the pram wheels.

It makes me physically sick and the smell stays with me and its just so horrible and disgusting and it's literally several days a week.

We live in a small town and I wonder if it's particularly bad round here...it does feel like everyone has a dog. But Jesus fucking christ does NO ONE pick up the poop?!!!

Obviously I try to not wheel through it, I do look and try and avoid it but clearly it's not possible because i still end up with it on the wheels.

The last straw was this morning I put the brakes on and got the kids out, went in house abd removed my shoes and then saw I had dog poo on my ankle...as I'd put on the foot brake, my ankle must of touched the wheels and poo had got on my clothes 🤢🤮🤢🤮🤢🤮😭

So my question is (sorry I just get so angry about this!!!) Does anyone have a brilliant tool they use for washing the buggy especially the wheels? I'm thinking like a brush/hose type thing...something I can actually wash it with properly? Or do I just get a big bucket and a dish brush? 🤔

It is only on MN where there are people who live in places where the pavements are more dog shit than concrete, the local clothing shops are full of dogs leaving dog hair everywhere, the cafes are full of barking dogs trying to fight each other, and children are knocked down like skittles by dogs the second they leave the house.

I do hate seeing dog shit though. It one of the basics of dog ownership... cleaning up after it.

This of you commenting "not all dog owners" and getting all offended and stroppy because someone said you're all filth...GET ANGRY AT THE ONES GIVING YOU A BAD NAME!!!
Don't be angry at us for saying what everyone else is thinking. Like it or not, half the people you walk past on your little doggy walks are thinking "urgh gross" when they see your dog. They don't think its cute. They don't want to stroke it. All they're thinking is "bet it was her who left that disgusting pile of filth outside the school last week..." because frankly for all we know it WAS you!!!

Is that fair? No! Of course it's not! And I sympathise with you I really do but at the end of the day it's the bad owners who are causing this negative feeling towards dogs and their owners. So be angry with them. Campaign with us against it. Stop getting all offended because we don't like your little doggy. Call out the dog owners who don't pick up poop. Use your energy to condemn disgusting victorian uncivilised behaviour instead of wasting your energy on defending the undefendable.

Wow! Rather than direct your anger at the dog owners who are responsible why not direct it at the ones that are? Like you literally just said yourself? I imagine you give dog owners some right dirty looks when your out and about rather than engage in conversation about your concerns like an adult?

Sounds like you just hate dogs all round and this is the icing on the cake for you.

'Little dog walks' my dog is a machine, most of us are not out on a social! We're out for some much needed exercise like everyone else in this world?

My dog doesn't want people like you petting it anyway 😂 stay away (although I'm sure you would, he's a great big German Shepherd, most people who don't understand the breed do 🤦‍♀️) More peace and quiet for us though I guess 👍

I totally respect how awful the dog poop situation is, trust me I step in it too! But you approached this all wrong by throwing all dog owners under the bus and generally being quite nasty towards our pets!

its absolutely vile. I feel like its got worse in the last couple of years. Seems like hardly anyone picks up after their dogs (i live in east london). I bought a pressure spray thing for the garden but its amazing for cleaning. I fill it up with bleach and water for things like pram wheels and bike wheels etc. this one is only £12 from Amazon

mummylondon16 · 23/03/2023 12:24

You are not being unreasonable. I go out walking twice a day. One day I counted 27 dog poo. I thought it was just me being ott but everyone I speak to says they see it too. I’ve raised it with local councillors who seem to feel they can do nothing. The city I live in has a cohort of people who like to think they are rebels and that extends to dumping rubbish and letting their dogs crap everywhere. In my opinion it’s a health issue, especially for parents with kids who step in it, get it on their pram etc. many friends of mine avoid walking now with kids because of it instead they drive which is not good for health or environment.
i personally would get some type of jet wash you can use and spray bleach. But also write to your local MP and councillor this should be a country wide fight back against people putting our health at risk

mummylondon16 · 23/03/2023 12:26

Ps I wonder if the boom in dog breeding for huge profit has encouraged this. I know the rescues are full of dogs used for breeding then dumped

Move to south London it's fine here!

Lordofmyflies · 23/03/2023 12:30

I think you must live in an area with lots of inconsiderate people OP. I don't see much dog poo around our town. People generally pick up or are asked to if they don't! There tends to be more of an issue with people littering which is also vile. I think there will always be a proportion of selfish foul humans who chuck litter, leave dog poo and have no sense of community.

isitjustmey · 23/03/2023 12:41

Some dog owners don't deserve dogs. They are utterly despicable. They are dog shite themselves! I see it all the time when I go out for walks. People refuse to pick up after their dogs. It's disgusting, lazy and dirty. If you can't look after a dog properly, get rid of it. Give it to someone who can.

FrostyFifi · 23/03/2023 12:43

It's pretty bad where I am (suburban outskirts of a large city). It also causes quite a lot of rage on my residents' fb page - lots of dogs caught being allowed to foul on people's front lawns via Ring doorbells and threats to post and shame.

Awful
The owner benefits from their enjoyment of having the pet they want and the rest of us have to put up with it's faeces dropped and smeared all over public places
🤢🤢🤢
and if that wasn't bad enough they now let their dogs shit in other people's private gardens
🤬🤬🤬

EverySporkIsSacred · 23/03/2023 13:13

For definite in my area it's far from all dog owners as I see most people pick up after theirs.
It's one or two that walk a regular route and allow their dogs to poop in the same general area until the path is covered in the stuff. Kids on their way to the local school end up kicking it (I assume accidentally) and spreading it down the street 🤮🤮 it's truly disgusting.

Hmmm, I'm not sure that pissing off large numbers of the very people whose support you want is really the best way to garner it.

@DizzyLizzyKizzy. Thanks for your lovely sanctimonious post. I often come on here to make up lies about dog poo, but this one took me a while . Best bit though was 2. "we don't allow vigilantes are acting illegally" what does that even mean?

Thought I had posted my own experiences, neither agreeing nor disagreeing with the actions taken by some but hey ho, carry on being ridiculously angry and let me know what you allow or don't for when I next post! Sigh.

It means people posting dog shit through letter boxes are trying to be vigilantes (taking the law into their own hands). It's illegal.

Hopefully the TA (if this even happened) was a prosecuted! Because she was acting illegally.

You'd be surprised what people put on the internet, lots of it bull shit.

bellabasset · 23/03/2023 17:21

The pressure spray is a good idea, wear a pair of wellies and waterproof trousers. I'm not sure I'd use bleach though in case it splashed on the pram and spoilt it.

OrionNebula · 23/03/2023 17:46

Putting dog shit through someone's letterbox certainly isn't something I would do, but I'd have zero sympathy for the person if they had been leaving it everywhere, to be honest 🤷‍♀️

LuckySantangelo35 · 23/03/2023 17:51

there should be a dog ownership that is soooooo expensive that no can afford it

that would solve the problem

Glad to hear it!

Dreadful and illegal behaviour!

WiddlinDiddlin · 23/03/2023 17:55

I do hope none of you become so disabled you need an assistance dog, stuck where you need a search and rescue dog, suffer from a medical condition that uses a detection dog, need the help of a police dog, bomb detection dog, scent detection (household pests and moulds that can fuck your house completely), military dog, cadaver finding dog, human tracking dog for lost people... particularly lost kids..

Without the data and the money provided via the pet industry, those would not exist.

LuckySantangelo35 · 23/03/2023 18:01

DizzyLizzyKizzy · 23/03/2023 17:52

@DizzyLizzyKizzy

dunno. Don’t care how they do it

but I think it should be done so that people can walk, jog, push buggies along the pavement without having to be constantly looking down and checking for dog shit

DizzyLizzyKizzy · 23/03/2023 18:07

@LuckySantangelo35 it's not going to be done, sorry to burst your bubble.

@DizzyLizzyKizzy

i am aware. Sadly.

inconsiderate and selfish dog owners can just continue as they are

but likewise people like me can hate them and their dogs and complain as much as we like

DizzyLizzyKizzy · 23/03/2023 18:13

@LuckySantangelo35 and likewise I can say I love dogs, I'm a responsible owner and I dislike people having blanket views on everyone

Like all cyclists are idiots etc etc

Shows such ignorance.
