To ask why my buggy is permanently covered in dog shit?!!

Mummypig32 · 21/03/2023 18:49

I push a double buggy. I'm out and about a lot, walks, baby naps, school run etc. It's a really nice buggy as well, most expensive thing I ever bought and I love it.

Sadly it's now fucking revolting and I'm considering just setting the whole thing on fire.

Every day I seem to end up with dog shit on the wheels. I dont have a dog. I used to like dogs now I fucking detest the vile creatures and the morons who own them. I'm sorry to all the good dog owners out there but I am so SICK of having to sit with a stick and scrape smelly revolting POO put of the pram wheels.

It makes me physically sick and the smell stays with me and its just so horrible and disgusting and it's literally several days a week.

We live in a small town and I wonder if it's particularly bad round here...it does feel like everyone has a dog. But Jesus fucking christ does NO ONE pick up the poop?!!!

Obviously I try to not wheel through it, I do look and try and avoid it but clearly it's not possible because i still end up with it on the wheels.

The last straw was this morning I put the brakes on and got the kids out, went in house abd removed my shoes and then saw I had dog poo on my ankle...as I'd put on the foot brake, my ankle must of touched the wheels and poo had got on my clothes 🤢🤮🤢🤮🤢🤮😭

So my question is (sorry I just get so angry about this!!!) Does anyone have a brilliant tool they use for washing the buggy especially the wheels? I'm thinking like a brush/hose type thing...something I can actually wash it with properly? Or do I just get a big bucket and a dish brush? 🤔

Because you don’t watch where you’re going?

Presumably she’s walking on the footpath which shouldn’t have dog shit on it. Letting a dog shit on the footpath is absolutely disgusting, lazy and vile. No excuse. If she can push a buggy on a path there shouldn’t be shit.

WhatAmIDoingWrong123 · 21/03/2023 20:26

I must be doing well to not have had this issue in 6.5 years of buggy pushing various children about.

MissCrowley · 21/03/2023 20:30

I detest dog shit and as a dog owner myself it really annoys me that people don't pick up after their dogs.

If you can't be arsed picking up their shit don't have one!!

I recently moved somewhere rural and I've never seen so much dog poo. It's awful. I would be so angry if I had small children in prams round here. It's bad enough trying to dodge it with two junior aged kids!

Cornwallintherain · 21/03/2023 20:37

Agreed OP

There was a little girl in a puddle suit building sandcastles at the weekend and a dog ran up to her, pissed on the sandcastle and then did a stinky shit right next to her.

The owner? Nowhere to be seen.

Another day ruined thanks to dog owners on the beach.

The irony is, a few years ago there was a group of dog owners protesting about dog bans on the beach. There was dog shit all around them on the pavement. All trodden in. 😂

Logicoutofthewindow · 21/03/2023 20:38

Is it the area you live in? I have noticed that some areas are worse than others.

I haven't stepped in any for years.

Orcubed · 21/03/2023 20:39

Since I posted on this earlier someone has left dog shit right outside my front gate😡

Cornwallintherain · 21/03/2023 20:40

Here we have an abundance of elderly dog owners who are too old / incapable of bending down to pick up the poo.

And apparently that's acceptable because if you mention it then you're accused of being "ageist"

All over the pavements of housing estates. Everywhere

Suzi888 · 21/03/2023 20:40

Dog owners are not “pure filth”. 🙄

I agree there’s no excuse and it should be picked up. I used a hose to clean my pram wheels, but I hosed it regardless because the pavement is filthy.

PrincessesRUs · 21/03/2023 20:41

I am absolutely neurotic about watching where I and the children walk. Admittedly I have a single buggy so maybe easier to see. I'm so obsessed on the way out I memorise where I see poo so I make sure I avoid it on the way home. I LOATHE dogs in towns and cities. It's got to the point where I don't think dogs should be allowed. They're bad for the environment anyway!

Badbudgeter · 21/03/2023 20:43

It is disgusting. I used to keep a 5l pump and spray pressure washer in the boot to clean the wheels off. I wouldn’t advise the boot brush as it can flick bits off and the last thing you want is splash back of watery dog shit on your face / clothes.

ocpwr · 21/03/2023 20:43

wow the hate for others is crazy on here. Believe it or not most dog owners will clean up the poo, its always a certain few that never do and it builds up.

Isleoftights · 21/03/2023 20:45

Because dog owners are pure filth.

AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 21/03/2023 20:47

@Cornwallintherain that really isn’t on, If they are unable to pick up poo on a walk in public they should only be letting them out in their own garden to do their business or getting someone who is able to pick up to walk them, my granny is in her 80s and manages to pick up after her dog so there is no excuse.

Goodread1 · 21/03/2023 20:52

Never had a problem with dogs 🐕 crap with my children's prams when my children were small,

It's only as they have got a lot older noticed dog crap about more often having to dodge it,

I know there are responsibility dog 🐕 owners,

How do you try to ensure the other types of dog owners who couldn't give a shit,
Cause they are Arseholes, be more responsible for their 🙌 blessed frigging dogs then?

This might do it. It's a brush for cleaning muddy boots. It has a reservoir for water in the handle.

HeyThereDelilah1 · 21/03/2023 20:54

I emailed my local councillors about this issue and they’re now sending someone out on a fortnightly basis to check. It’s disgusting and dangerous, it can cause serious illness in kids if walked into houses. There needs to be an enforced DNA test for dogs so anyone leaving shit around will get a fine in the post, feel like starting an online campaign on it!

davegrohll · 21/03/2023 20:55

I'm tempted to take a picture of every dog shit I see on the school run, everyday, both times and email them to the local mp! A shit a day - will something more be done then apart from putting up signs that get completely ignored ?!

BCfan · 21/03/2023 20:56

One of the boot buddy type brushes would work I think?

Is it definitely poo and not mud?

But yes very gross! Unfortunately people in walks of life can be very inconsiderate e.g. people with kids who let them pick their noses and touch everything on public transport.

Justmeandthedog1 · 21/03/2023 20:58

AlwaysGinPlease · 21/03/2023 18:55

We ALWAYS pick up our dog poop. Without fail. Don't tar us all with the same brush. Thanks.

This.
I’ve also had to clean up after two other dogs in the last couple of days. What is wrong with people? If you can walk your dog you can pick up its poo.
OP, I’d hose your wheels with some water pressure in the hose. You could make up a spray bottle with disinfectant and spray the wheels afterwards.

beAsensible1 · 21/03/2023 21:00

someone et their dog do a shit on my front stairs a couple of weeks ago and i'm still fuming.

its bloody everywhere, the only way to avoid it is to walk in the middle of the road.
Its like being back in the early 2000s again, enter city covered in it.

Fucking hell, that's absolutely vile!
She shouldn't have had to think that a dog was going to poo and wee on her sand castle! Beaches are meant to be (largely) dog free and clean

ChocHotolate · 21/03/2023 21:02

originally meant to be to clean my dogs muddy paws but has now changed roles to being buggy wheel cleaner! I leave it in the front porch so it's on hand if/when needed (for both buggy and dog)

.... for the record, I pick up my dog poo 😊

Mojoj · 21/03/2023 21:02

Hence · 21/03/2023 19:04

Sadly most dog owners are selfish and lazy. Almost as bad as smokers 🤢🤮🤢

Eh, what? No they most certainly are not. But, sadly, there's enough idiots with dogs who don't pick up their dogs' shit, to make people come out with sweeping statements like that.

Boogismyname · 21/03/2023 21:07

Dog poo is definitely worse in pockets of locations.
I used to live in a district within a city and it was undoubtedly worse there than on the other parts.
