To ask why my buggy is permanently covered in dog shit?!!

Mummypig32 · 21/03/2023 18:49

I push a double buggy. I'm out and about a lot, walks, baby naps, school run etc. It's a really nice buggy as well, most expensive thing I ever bought and I love it.

Sadly it's now fucking revolting and I'm considering just setting the whole thing on fire.

Every day I seem to end up with dog shit on the wheels. I dont have a dog. I used to like dogs now I fucking detest the vile creatures and the morons who own them. I'm sorry to all the good dog owners out there but I am so SICK of having to sit with a stick and scrape smelly revolting POO put of the pram wheels.

It makes me physically sick and the smell stays with me and its just so horrible and disgusting and it's literally several days a week.

We live in a small town and I wonder if it's particularly bad round here...it does feel like everyone has a dog. But Jesus fucking christ does NO ONE pick up the poop?!!!

Obviously I try to not wheel through it, I do look and try and avoid it but clearly it's not possible because i still end up with it on the wheels.

The last straw was this morning I put the brakes on and got the kids out, went in house abd removed my shoes and then saw I had dog poo on my ankle...as I'd put on the foot brake, my ankle must of touched the wheels and poo had got on my clothes 🤢🤮🤢🤮🤢🤮😭

So my question is (sorry I just get so angry about this!!!) Does anyone have a brilliant tool they use for washing the buggy especially the wheels? I'm thinking like a brush/hose type thing...something I can actually wash it with properly? Or do I just get a big bucket and a dish brush? 🤔

stood In some last week. Tread into my home. I was livid. I have 3 dogs and always pick up. I think there needs to be more patrols and cctv in hot spots

AlwaysGinPlease · 21/03/2023 18:55

We ALWAYS pick up our dog poop. Without fail. Don't tar us all with the same brush. Thanks.

We also pick it up.

Today alone, I also picked up 3 poos that were nothing to do with my dog because I don't want other people to step in them etc. . I resent having to do this becaise it is not my job .. the owners who just leave it are vile and lazy. However it is unfair to say that of all dog owners.

I resent being called " pure filth"..I assume you meant SOME dog owners!

Dunnoburt · 21/03/2023 21:10

Yanbu dog shit is disgusting whether you own one or not....all this child comparison.....if a kid shat on the pavement you wouldn't want to step in it and would expect it cleaned up by "mummy or daddy"...... I'm very much on your side having not had a dog shit free walk anywhere since pretty much lockdown......for all those responsible owners who do pick up, I applaud you, my vent is very much NOT aimed at you.

PrincessesRUs · 21/03/2023 20:41

I am absolutely neurotic about watching where I and the children walk. Admittedly I have a single buggy so maybe easier to see. I'm so obsessed on the way out I memorise where I see poo so I make sure I avoid it on the way home. I LOATHE dogs in towns and cities. It's got to the point where I don't think dogs should be allowed. They're bad for the environment anyway!

😭 this is my life too!!

Barneysma2 · 21/03/2023 21:16

I am a dog owner and I get so furious when I am walking my dog and see streams of shit all over the pavements. Literally have to spend the whole walk looking at the floor dodging the turd 🙄 it's definitely an area thing. I live where there are lots of back streets that people cut down walking their dogs and I saw one on the floor the other day and I couldn't even say if it was a dog turd, a human turd or King Kong's finger it was that big

hiyaqwerty · 21/03/2023 21:17

same issue here!!! I said to dh the other day, there should be an area for non dog owners so we can walk around freely without having to dodge dog shit!!! Since lockdown the dog fouling has worsened so much!!! I can't believe the amount I see, and funnily enough there's a dog bin nearby!
I have to be so careful when taking the kids to school, we walk past like 4 shits Atleast on a daily!!!
I've also witness dog owners allowing their dog to shit in the middle of the pavement, they pick it up but guess what, there's residue on the ground still, like how silly do you have to be, why not direct your dog towards the side at least then people won't be stepping on it accidentally.
Those lazy dog owners, need to not keep a dog if they can't be bothered cleaning up after them!

I've also seen children and adults step on shit whilst walking to school, it disgusts me that they are then spreading that into school, which is why I hate that teachers make kids sit on the floor.

Sometimes I'll think to go out for a walk, but the dog fouling puts me off so I don't bother! I can't just walk freely, I have to be vigilant For to ensure there is no shit in my pathway!

JustAnotherUsey · 21/03/2023 21:17

I've noticed this recently. Before lockdown it was fine and people picked up their dog shit. Now that the dog population has maybe quadrupled or more, way more inconsiderate owners.

MrSheepy · 21/03/2023 21:28

This used to do my head in. We lived in a flat when the DCs were small and I’d always notice just when I’d wheeled the buggy through the hall. I have a dog now (always pick up) and I wish I’d thought to buy a bottle of the enzyme spray that kill the smell of dog shit. It really works and I would have had much less of the boak while scraping shite from the tread of buggy wheels (and kids shoes) if they’d been given a good skoosh.

desertcalippo · 21/03/2023 21:31

Inconsiderate owners 😡 eugh it drives me mad, I see so much of it when out and about.

Bluevelvetsofa · 21/03/2023 21:39

Logically, I know that there are responsible dog owners. I’ve seen people pick up and bag dog poo and I’ve seen people put it in the dog bin. But….. in the last three years, the number of dogs round here has increased exponentially and so has the amount of dog poo. We live opposite a green space and people allow their dogs on it, although they aren’t supposed to. The houses opposite have front gardens open to the path and the dogs pee and poo on the gardens, then the owners weed the gardens and plant them. I just hope they always wear gloves.

There are plans to extend the dog walking areas. I dread the thought.

SpringViolet · 21/03/2023 21:41

I used to spray bleach on the wheels and then hose it off on using the most powerful setting on the hose head OP. I certainly wouldn’t be getting close enough to wipe it off if I had access to a hose pipe outside, it’d be in my nose for ages.

One reason I never took my buggies inside and we’ve always taken shoes off at the door.

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 21/03/2023 21:44

Muc-off bike cleaner and hose down after?

PropellerDance · 21/03/2023 21:57

It's so hard to spot dog shit when pushing a pram as your view is hidden. I constantly had to walk with my head down watching the path ahead of me. There is constantly dog shit along my road and it drives me nuts! I always hose mud off the wheels, not sure that's wise with dog shit though.

There's a special place in hell for dog owners not picking up shit.

PropellerDance · 21/03/2023 21:58

RudsyFarmer · 21/03/2023 19:04

Out of curiosity where do you think you’re encountering the dog poo? Are you wheeling through long grass? I haven’t stepped in dog poo since I was a kid and have never had it on pram wheels. I’m intrigued!

Gold star for you.

Offensiveapprently · 21/03/2023 22:07

@BaroldFromEastenders so eyes constantly fixated on the pavement at all times, never look up. Got it 👍🏼

Sadly this is how I mostly walk now on the pavements. And I have a dog. And cannot believe people with dogs want to stand in it either so why don't they pick up? It's vile.

Cornwallintherain · 21/03/2023 22:59

IDontWantToBeAPie · 21/03/2023 23:06

I'd recommend getting a power hose

MyOtherCarIsAPorsche · 21/03/2023 23:09

All this hosing off of pushchair wheels - where does the sludge go? It's just spreading it to a wider area. No one should have to take dog shit home, never mind have to make diluted dog shit on or near their property. There should be zero dog shit on pavements - dogs should foul their own property - not public property.

Both my daughters have double pushchairs. I look after their children each week. I have to put their pushchairs in my car.

I took some bags out of my boot recently and they came out with dog shit on them because the pushchair had been in there. I didn't realise and I put the bags on my worktop - dog shit on my granite!! In my kitchen!Where I prepare food! Lovely!

It's all very well all these wonderful dog owners promising they pick shit up. What? All of it? Every trace? The pavements on the way to my granddaughter's school are covered full width with dog shit in various states of decomposition. Like a previous pp I have also followed children who have trodden in shit into school - they then tread it throughout the corridors and into class. Then the children are told to sit on the dog shit carpet. They put their hands on the carpet and then it's spread (coli) all over school equipment. No wonder there's so many sickness bugs in school. And they blame noro virus?

No dog owner can pick up every single trace of dog shit - impossible. Usually there are visible smears - but always traces. That is unless your animal is some sort of special breed which does hover turds which can be picked up before they touch down. And then there's the piss - always full width of pavements as the camber of the pavements drain towards the road and then into grates. Who wants their pushchairs/wheels going over piss?

It's all very well saying keep pushchairs in the garage - what about those people with wheeled equipment who have to take it into the house?

I am sick of cleaning up after ignorant dog owners. Do they like dog shit on their worktops?

PiratePetespajamas · 21/03/2023 23:23

Yep, it’s grim isn’t it. It’s all over the pavements where I live, unless you walk with your head down the whole time you will certainly tread in it!

As pp said you need a Boot Buddy. You fill the body with water (and soap/disinfectant/fairy liquid if you like) and then it flows out through the brush as you use it. Originally designed for cleaning for football boots but genius on the ridges of pram wheels. I also got some shower-cap type things online which cover the wheels when you bring it in the house (and don’t trust that they’re clean).

I pick up my dog shit, cannot fathom the areas you live, because it's certainly not like that where I am.

LucyWildeGru · 21/03/2023 23:30

Dog shit is everywhere. I despise dog people with every fibre of my being for infesting our streets and parks with the turds of their stinking shit-machines.

We need huge fines, licences, and dogs destroyed if owners don't pick up.

Dogs destroyed, because of their owners.... that's not going to happen.

Many of us don't have anywhere to attach them to. I live in a flat. No outdoor tap.

Why not? We destroy cows, sheep, pigs. By the billions. Why not dogs? Feed them to the zoo animals. Circle of life.
