To ask why my buggy is permanently covered in dog shit?!!

Mummypig32 · 21/03/2023 18:49

I push a double buggy. I'm out and about a lot, walks, baby naps, school run etc. It's a really nice buggy as well, most expensive thing I ever bought and I love it.

Sadly it's now fucking revolting and I'm considering just setting the whole thing on fire.

Every day I seem to end up with dog shit on the wheels. I dont have a dog. I used to like dogs now I fucking detest the vile creatures and the morons who own them. I'm sorry to all the good dog owners out there but I am so SICK of having to sit with a stick and scrape smelly revolting POO put of the pram wheels.

It makes me physically sick and the smell stays with me and its just so horrible and disgusting and it's literally several days a week.

We live in a small town and I wonder if it's particularly bad round here...it does feel like everyone has a dog. But Jesus fucking christ does NO ONE pick up the poop?!!!

Obviously I try to not wheel through it, I do look and try and avoid it but clearly it's not possible because i still end up with it on the wheels.

The last straw was this morning I put the brakes on and got the kids out, went in house abd removed my shoes and then saw I had dog poo on my ankle...as I'd put on the foot brake, my ankle must of touched the wheels and poo had got on my clothes 🤢🤮🤢🤮🤢🤮😭

So my question is (sorry I just get so angry about this!!!) Does anyone have a brilliant tool they use for washing the buggy especially the wheels? I'm thinking like a brush/hose type thing...something I can actually wash it with properly? Or do I just get a big bucket and a dish brush? 🤔

Shower cap for the wheels when they go into the car, and a paint/weedkiller sprayer just filled with water and a bit of dish soap by the back door. Pump and spray down the wheels.

I use a single buggy but only have this issue if I bump into grass verges. Never on pavements where I am.

FlounderingFruitcake · 21/03/2023 19:08

Is it a side by side that takes up most of the pavement so you have limited scope for moving around? I can’t say it’s ever happened to me and there’s plenty of the stuff on the pavements around here. Weirdly I don’t even see that many dogs. Presumably the few there are have selfish disgusting owners.

BasiliskStare · 21/03/2023 19:11

There is no excuse for people not picking their dogs poo . None. But where I live it is not all over the pavement etc. People do pick up. Speak to the council & maybe they can put up some signs - where I live there is a ( I think ) £200 fine for not picking up your dogs poo. To be getting it all over the wheels and spokes it must be a huge problem , the like of which I don't encounter here. ( Not saying you are wrong - not at all ) but if the problem is really that bad I would speak to the council.

I know it is an MN thing but where I live most dog owners are not selfish & lazy. But all different in different areas I suppose.

Noshowlomo · 21/03/2023 19:17

@Quveas you inserted the word “all”, I didn’t. Another post I said, “not all, but enough”.

Well done on picking up after your dog which is the basic minimum you should be doing when it craps on the street

TheVikingGirl · 21/03/2023 19:18

I don’t have a pram but I quite often have to dodge dog shit on my walks where I live and it’s funny because it’s quite an affluent area but the dog owners here must be seriously entitled not to pick up their disgusting dogs shit. I for one am sick of having to constantly watch where I walk, why should I? I’d lose my head if I had to deal with this stuck to a pram and continually clean it off. Feel for you OP!

ForestofD · 21/03/2023 19:20

I'm thinking ice cream tubs in the garage with Milton in.

But yes, people should pick it up.

On our local Facebook group someone threated to name and shame the offender with video evidence. (Owner not dog!) Turned out it was the local councillor........

PensionPuzzle · 21/03/2023 19:21

I think it must be a locality thing because we've recently moved quite a long way and there was almost never a dog poo where it shouldn't be where we were before, 'even' in popular fields which had dozens of dog walkers using it daily.

We've asked for the dog warden to sit and be ready to hand out on the spot fines as it's so bad where we are but they just don't want to know. Easy money, in my view, and would deter most of it once a few fines had been dished and word got round.

ppure · 21/03/2023 19:25

yes its so gross, and the owners that don't control their dogs or use a lead.
NO, I don't think your wet smelly dog is cute, or want it to jump up on my child or me....

Orcubed · 21/03/2023 19:26

It’s disgusting here too, you can’t walk anywhere without constantly dodging poo. I must say “mind the poo” about 20 times on each school run and STILL have to clean it off either shoes or wheels several times a day. When my youngest was toddling he fell and landed in it 🤮🤮🤮🤮

mac1974 · 21/03/2023 19:28

Dog owner & also a buggy user. I agree. I'm disgusted by the amount dog crap left on the pavements. The school run is a minefield.
Just to clarify I do pick up when my dog goes to the loo.

inky1991 · 21/03/2023 19:31

We ALWAYS pick up our dog poop. Without fail. Don't tar us all with the same brush. Thanks.

There's too many that don't though, I'm sick of it as well. Everyone has a fucking dog

Lastnamedidntstick · 21/03/2023 19:32

This is why shoes on in the house is grim as well.

your shoes have been everywhere the buggy wheels have been.

i used to have a mat for the buggy, and everyone takes shoes off in the same place.

theysaiditgetseasier · 21/03/2023 19:35

Noshowlomo · 21/03/2023 18:50

Because dog owners are pure filth. Same where I live on the walk to my sons school. It’s disgusting and people are so so lazy and dirty

Think your missing the word SOME in your post, I'm a responsible dog owner certainly not filth.

I despise owners who do not pick it up,

Porridgeislife · 21/03/2023 19:41

We jet wash the bottom part of our pram & leave to dry. Works well.

sherbertyellowteddy · 21/03/2023 19:41

Our school run is dreadful for it. The one road that leads up to the school is covered in it. Worse when it's autumn and you can't see for leaves.
I am also a dog owner and my dog is the absolute best because he won't go for a poo on a walk and will only do his business in his own back garden!

SmallbutMighty1 · 21/03/2023 19:52

I've had a double since July 2021 and never once had that problem 😅 must be your area 😬

FusionChefGeoff · 21/03/2023 19:52

How about taking a boot buddy with you that should work?!

bootbuddy.com

MrsMiddleMother · 21/03/2023 19:58

Yanbu op! On my street alone there is 2 general waste bins and a red dog waste bin and yet there Is still dog shit all over it, one end in particular is awful! So between the dog shit and the cars parked all over the pavement I find myself walking with buggy and 4 year old on the road constantly. I won't lie I now detest dogs and dog owners because of it.

123bumblebee · 21/03/2023 20:00

I love dogs but I can’t stand this explosion that has happened around here where everyone has a (badly trained) dog, takes it to cafes/pubs/in shops, and dog shit litters the pavements. Someone even put their little dog on a table in a cafe I was in the other day, absolutely 🤮 .

I walk a very short distance to the park in my village and over a tiny patch of grass and then otherwise pavements. I am CONSTANTLY having to clean dog shit off of my pram and shoes. Why TF don’t they clean up their animals excrement?

TomatoSandwiches · 21/03/2023 20:05

It has undoubtedly gotten worse since loockdown ended, I suspect a lot of it is people with the puppies they got and aren't responsible for a lot of their dogs care.
There used to be one dog poo alley nearby but every other turn on the pathway to school there is the morning offerings from an early walk.

davegrohll · 21/03/2023 20:10

Where we live there is loads of alley ways (rat runs as my dad calls them) and the amount of dog shit I see is unreal, I think people must think they can't be seen down the alley ways. It makes me so angry. I am like the poo inspector constantly on the look out for shit incase I roll over it !!

davegrohll · 21/03/2023 20:12

BaroldFromEastenders · 21/03/2023 19:03

Because you don’t watch where you’re going?

You shouldn't have to look out for shit though, it should be picked up !!

Motorcycleemptyness · 21/03/2023 20:15

I fucking love dogs but I agree, the dog poo in the UK is absolutely out of control. I work in Kensington and every day I have to dodge poo all over the pavement, it makes me vom. Absolutely awful. What is the answer though? Pestering MPs and councils until they do something?

AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 21/03/2023 20:22

@Motorcycleemptyness limit dogs to working dogs and dogs for those who need them e.g. sight dogs. Domestic dogs should only be allowed to those who can sit a test/prove they will have their needs met and have some way of being traced if mess is left as well as the number of dogs per house limited. The dog numbers are out of control and many are not well looked after. This would only happen in an ideal world of course

TheGuv1982 · 21/03/2023 20:24

It’s got to be an area thing. Cant remember the last time I saw any one a pavement, and you can bet your life if it does happen someone’s posting the Ring footage on the local Facebook group within the hour.

It is vile though. I get embarrassed walking my dog and seeing the mess in grass verges and along public footpaths.
