Am dating this guy.

Early days.

I offered to cook for him.

Asked him, is there anything you don’t eat.

Only veg he eats are peas and sweetcorn and tomatoes if they are in a sauce.

Wtaf? And no he’s not 5 he’s in his 40s

She presumably doesn't want to, now she knows that his eating habits are akin to those of a toddler. But that ship has sailed.

Well yeah. She had a fun time before that though? Nothing wrong with that

IHaveaSetOfVeryParticularSkills · 13/03/2023 20:26

I don't think it's snobby to not find someone who doesn't eat more than sweetcorn and peas when you love cooking unattractive or not being compatible...

I mean like how do you cook foods where everything is mixed? Everyone has something different? Are people cooking 2 paellas, 2 pastas, 2 soups, 2 curries, 2 whatever dish is going?
That would be quite a headache imho.

CerealNCer · 13/03/2023 20:26

I wouldn't have sex early days or date someone who only eats peas and sweetcorn. He's probably a gamer, too isn't he? Pasty and doesn't do any sports for fun?

smellyflowers · 13/03/2023 20:27

Has he tried sweet potato?

YukoandHiro · 13/03/2023 20:27

That would give me the ick tbh

What are you on about is Pasty an insult?

I couldn't say whether she had a fun time or not as I wasn't there.

Personally, I would regret having sex with someone whom I didn't know very, very well. But each to their own.

Do you think sweet potato could save the relationship, take away the ick and make him better in bed? 😂

What in case you found out they only ate sweetcorn and peas?!

Yes. It's a superfood.

purplevipersgrass · 13/03/2023 20:29

I once made the mistake of going on holiday with someone who didn't do fruit and veg but did do burgers, steak and chips. Wouldn't eat fish or seafood. We were in the south of France with fabulous food everywhere but she had to find a burger place every day. It's like being on holiday with a toddler.

LimeCheesecake · 13/03/2023 20:29

It would be a nope from me too. Fussy eaters are annoying in small quantities and terrible to live with, so if you are looking for a serious relationship, no point carrying on with someone you know you couldn’t live with.

purplevipersgrass · 13/03/2023 20:30

Pasty = pale and sickly looking as a result of spending all his time indoors gaming.

Rinkydinkydoodle · 13/03/2023 20:30

Is it just veg or is he otherwise picky?

😂 I think it would need to be a miracle worker at this stage.

ChilliBandit · 13/03/2023 20:30

@IHaveaSetOfVeryParticularSkills - when it’s my turn to cook, I just cook a meal, whatever I fancy. DH eats the parts he likes which is normally most of it and then if still hungry has something else as well. It’s not rocket science. The OPs boyfriend probably eats loads of stuff, I am not sure why it’s such a big deal he is picky on veg. Part of being an adult is not having to eat shit you don’t like.

CerealNCer · 13/03/2023 20:31

smellyflowers · 13/03/2023 20:27

What are you on about is Pasty an insult?

It's an adjective meaning having a skin pallor from a poor diet. It's not about being white or untanned it's about being unhealthy from an unhealthy diet and no vit D from diet or sunshine.

Ooshie · 13/03/2023 20:31

My first boyfriend was like this and it became an ick, it’s really unattractive to eat like a toddler. It would be a deal breaker for me now, I used to hide all sorts of fruit and veg in his food and he ate it all up without knowing.

Autumntree · 13/03/2023 20:32

Couldn't care less

Oh I thought you meant the pastry item from Greggs!!!

whatthebejesus · 13/03/2023 20:33

Yea couldn't be doing with that shit. This house is a eat it or don't eat it household. But there's nothing else. No reason why you should have a restricted diet just because he chooses to.

I used to see a guy who wouldn't eat any veg or salad. And would pick around food. Tbf I did say to him a few times, wtf- you're not 5. Eat your bloody veg. And after a while he did. But I think the more you comment the more he will dig his heels in.

Ignore it and serve him what you cook. When he cooks then you can eat what he prepares.

IchWill · 13/03/2023 20:34

It would be a pass from me. Which is probably hugely hypocritical as a vegan. 🤣

My DP isn't vegan, and he's a chef, we both love trying new food, new flavours and different combinations. We love cooking and dining out and now that veganism is more common we get to discover some great foods.

My best mate's ex was similar to the guy you're dating, only veg he ate was peas, he wouldn't eat any spices, no herbs, no foreign cuisine (inclusing cheeses!). She absolutely hated it, never went for nice meals together. When they had kids, she had to cook separate meals so that kids wouldn't grow up on his bland diet.

Besswess88 · 13/03/2023 19:43

I love cooking 😭😭😭

You're just not compatible. Sorry.

I'd just withdraw the offer to cook and go to a restaurant instead, where you can each eat to your own preferences.
