I'm more enraged about the Fiona Bruce incident TBH. The fact that she's actually an ambassador for Refuge, a domestic abuse charity, makes it a million times worse. She should be made to stand down immediately

Refuge have actually issued a statement supporting her.

Unbelievable.

Because the Tory party were involved in the selection process.

Aka Boris

Or for refusing to broadcast the final episode of Attenborough's series on British Wildlife becuase it highlifhts the destruction of the environment by the tory party.....

This simply isn't true. There were only ever 5 episodes. Plus some extra bits only ever showing on iPlayer, including the one being discussed.
Tomorrow's is a kind of introduction of 4 different habitats, then each of the following 4 homes in on each habitat.
As you were.

BashirWithTheGoodBeard · 11/03/2023 09:43

The way this thread is going indicates why this decision was so bad both for the BBC and the Tories. Because now people are talking about the BBC chair having given Boris 800 grand. That doesn't reflect well on either of the institutions involved.

Apricotlemonade · 11/03/2023 09:43

What the hell- why are we paying a license fee if the cooperation is supposed to be impartial. I’d rather have adverts than be supporting the Tory party.

QuintanaRoo · 11/03/2023 09:43

BashirWithTheGoodBeard · 11/03/2023 09:41

Money talks. No doubt if Gary 'loans' Boris 800k they'll let him back.

They’ll probably make him director general 😁

Snowsurprised · 11/03/2023 08:54

The BBC and presenters should be impartial. That’s what we’re paying for.

Exactly this.

Yes YABU.

QuintanaRoo · 11/03/2023 09:44

The bbc is a Tory mouthpiece

SerendipityJane · 11/03/2023 09:44

The BBC deserver all circles of hell for the abomination that is the BBC Sounds app.

DuncinToffee · 11/03/2023 09:45

Suzi888 · 11/03/2023 09:44

Exactly this.

Yes YABU.

You can send in a complaint about them employing Gary Lineker if you like

QuintanaRoo · 11/03/2023 09:46

I hope Gary defects to itv

PlateBilledDuckyPerson · 11/03/2023 09:47

They won't reply.

watching her launder that mans image in real time was so sickening

Richard Sharp, also helped Boris secure an 800k loan. So actually I’d say the bbc are a pro tory biased organisation and it’s due to this impartiality that they’re coming down on Linneker. amp.theguardian.com/media/2023/jan/24/panel-approving-richard-sharp-as-bbc-chair-included-tory-party-donor

Yes, that will be my complaint.

Tory donors being allowed to shape viewing and opinions. Corrupt and scary.

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 11/03/2023 09:53

ilovesooty · 11/03/2023 09:43

Refuge have actually issued a statement supporting her.

Unbelievable.

I hadn't seen that. Absolutely disgusting.

As for the comment about her covering the BBCs legal back, fuck that when it comes to domestic abuse. His wife said it happened, their friends said it happened - it happened. Either she's an advocate for abused women or she isn't. But that's the BBC for you

Au contraire - just get ChatGPT to do it.

The BBC and presenters should be impartial. That’s what we’re paying for.

So they should have start led with Fiona Bruce, Alan Sugar, Prue Leith, Andrew Neil and so many others

avocadotofu · 11/03/2023 09:58

Thank you. I will definitely be making a complaint. Freedom of speech is so important.

Wonnle · 11/03/2023 09:58

The BBC needs defunding and the license fee scrapping , if you want to watch it put it on a subscription service like a lot of other channels .

Zonder · 11/03/2023 10:03

Suzi888 · 11/03/2023 09:44

Exactly this.

Yes YABU.

Greg Dyke, former director general of the BBC, disagrees with you.

Dyke told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme: “There is a long-established precedent in the BBC that is that if you’re an entertainment presenter or you’re a football presenter, then you are not bound by those same [impartiality] rules.

Anniessong · 11/03/2023 10:06

Snowsurprised · 11/03/2023 08:54

The BBC and presenters should be impartial. That’s what we’re paying for.

How do you feel about Richard Sharp then? He should stand down right?

Bingbangbongbash · 11/03/2023 10:10

Wonnle · 11/03/2023 09:58

The BBC needs defunding and the license fee scrapping , if you want to watch it put it on a subscription service like a lot of other channels .

It is a subscription service. Want to watch the BBC? Pay the licence fee. Don’t want to watch the BBC or the aligned broadcast services? Don’t pay. How is that not an optional subscription service?

VivX · 11/03/2023 10:13

It is bonkers to not have disciplined Sugar for his tweet specifically giving his overt support for Johnson against Corbyn (where he also named both politicians) and yet to be asking Lineker to step back due to his tweet.

I am all for impartiality - but there must be absolutely impartiality about how impartiality is applied and enforced, otherwise it is all a bit pointless.

Also Bruce showed an appalling lack of judgement regarding S Johnson, which the BBC is apparently defending.

rothbury · 11/03/2023 10:13

I’m cancelling my licence. Just had enough with the government openly employing a new DG who paid for the privilege. What’s happening now is a direct result of the corruption at the top.

BBC is now a cesspit.

SerendipityJane · 11/03/2023 10:14

How do you feel about Richard Sharp then?

I certainly think nominative determinism takes a day off once in a while.
