… I’ve told my partner where to stick it, explained to my 4 year old what mummy’s boundaries are, & stormed off out to a wine bar that is handily around the corner from my house. And I am VERY pleased with my decision.

Can’t recommend this enough to be honest.

I always tell DH that a husband that pulls his weight domestically makes any womans fanny throb. Should tell your dp that, it doesn't always make them do it but it's a valid reason to tell them to fuck off when they fancy a shag.

'Fancy a shag love?'
'No, I can't get into it cos I'm still fucking raging I haven't stopped for 3 days while you have fucked about on your allotment and then made a mess all fucking weekend'.
'Erm, OK then. Sorry tho'
'Whatever'

WetLettuce2 · 09/03/2023 20:16

YABU unless you have a big pot of olives on the side.

Enjoy and return regularly x

Yesss you fucking queen, you deserve that wine. Eat the Portuguese tarts.
I cannot believe you are battling stage 4 cancer, working part time, raising a little one, and he has the brass neck to say anything other than 'I've already done the housework and made the tea'.

CatMattress · 09/03/2023 20:21

I think the only condition repressed anger genuinely leads to is some kind of -cide, depending who you're angry with. In this case that would be, I believe, mariticide...
Wine and Portuguese nibbles is probably better as an option for everyone involved.

dancinfeet · 09/03/2023 20:21

have a fabulous time, well deserved, and your OH has behaved like a tit.

WetLettuce2 · 09/03/2023 20:28

Wish I had a wine bar round the corner ☹️

MaggieMagpie1 · 09/03/2023 20:29

Nothing wise to add except to say bring on the wine and embrace the smug! Well done you!

Is the 4 year old safe?

No, she is playing with the kitchen knives. She is with her Dad !

slowquickstep · 09/03/2023 20:32

LittleBrownJug. Good on you, enjoy the wine

LikeGolddust · 09/03/2023 20:35

The worst comments on mumsnet are always the ones made in faux miscomprehension. Did the 4 year old understand? Is the 4 year old safe? More context needed etc

It was immediately obvious from your first comment what the situation had been at home and that you had escaped to avoid a meltdown or a screaming match or gain some breathing space and you were completely NBU at that point. Given your subsequent post you are most absolutely most definitely not unreasonable.

Enjoy your wine and tapas and I hope you go home to a clean kitchen and a kiss goodnight from a clean, fed, happy child. X

Is the 4 year old safe?

That's what worries me. They'll be upset and frightened.

I’m sure you mean well but as someone who has also had stage 4 cancer (now in remission) I hate these theories. It just feels like another way to blame people for having cancer- like they didn’t express their emotions enough. I agree it’s healthy to get anger out but there is absolutely no evidence for any of these woo theories or ideas that ‘cancer is not a disease’ but some cry for help & a chance to work on your well-being . Sorry it makes me so angry.

@Madeintowerhamlets - like you said, it's come from a good place but it's unintentionally very insulting and offensive and your response was entirely justified. Thank you for being the one to say it.

I have a FB friend who was posting the other day about how juicing cures cancer regardless of the stage, and another friend just told her to fuck off with posting such absolutely insensitive shit. Great that you're in remission now ❤️
