Mine is the work that the lady who comes to clean my house for two hours per week does, and to walk in to my home every Wednesday and smell the bleach and see the place sparkling is my happiest feeling.

I am a single full time working mother to three kids who to certain degrees are ND.

The joy and peace that paying that lady £25 gives me , is worth every single penny.

What's yours????

Lovely smelling shower gels (citrus or molten brown particularly)

Daffodils in a vase on the kitchen table, especially on a cold day.

A hug from teenage grandsons (14 and 16)is always lovely.

Looking out the window and seeing it's started to snow so immediately have to go out into the garden, look up to the sky, hold my hand out to catch some snowflakes and do a twirl in it (no I'm not Elsa, and yes my neighbours probably think I'm an utter loon 😁)

Spending some time in my favourite library. Having a nap at this really fancy sofa royal like when I'm exhausted.

Hearing birds late night, such as tonight.

Nature. Seeing flowers already bloom.

When I'm having a particularly busy day and my DH senses that coffee would be appreciated, he just puts a mug down gently and walks away without saying a word, he doesn't know how much that means to me.

Every time my cat curls up on my lap it warms my heart. She was a wee stray and it took a very long time for her to trust us. Now she loves us, it makes me very happy.

Saturday mornings when DH gets up with DC (1 & 2). By the time I get up an hour or 2 later, they are both fed and dressed. DH then takes DC1 to a sports class and to the supermarket on the way home and I get 1.5/2hrs to myself whilst DC2 naps. It's the only time I get to myself all week and I value it so much!

Loud northern soul and a dance around the house - DS 16 will join in, DD 14 will roll her eyes and some indulgently

Drinking coffee and watching the sun rise, especially when I can sit outside to do this. DDog usually joins me

Sitting wrapped up in the garden with the sun on my face at the momement. Freezing up in north east however i have sun spot with no wind and its lovely. Im poorly with covid atm and supposed to be wfh but a tea break in the sun is lovely!!

When I had Covid I spent a good 2-3 hours sat out in the garden, and although I didn't feel poorly to begin with. It made me feel tons better just sitting outside and breathing in the fresh air.

Coffee in the morning

Seeing my DS happy playing

Getting a few hours' break when my son is in daycare. That long stretch on the sofa whilst watching real housewives of Beverly Hills

Oh, and seeing a new rose flower in my garden

SerafinasGoose · 10/03/2023 22:59

The wind howling through the beautiful sequoia standing in my garden
Sitting in my garden seat with a blanket and a cuppa, watching the sun set and the dusk come on.
Sunlight or the path of the moon sparkling on water.
Watching the cycles of the moon.
Dancing orange flames in the fire pit or wood burner.
The sweet smell of freshly cut hay.
Owls hooting in the tree outside.
My reading nook and a few hours' uninterrupted concentration.
A smell or object that reminds me of the comfort and safety of my grandparents' home.
The tang of salt in the sea breeze.
Lighthouse beams sweeping through the sky. These have been a constant presence in my life since childhood and it seems they belong to a world that's rapidly disappearing. Long may they remain.
A window seat in a favourite coastal pub, glass in hand, watching the sun set over the harbour.
Warm blanket cuddles with DC.
DC's happy chatter about everything under the sun.

The world feels good having written that list and read about the happy things/places of other people.

SerafinasGoose · 10/03/2023 23:01

Oh, and watching the swifts go home and the bats come out in the dusk.

This thread is giving me lots of happiness Smile

When I used to put my DC to bed when they were little, they always said "tuck me in!" and I'd tuck in their duvet all the way down each side, from their shoulders to toes (so they looked like tiny Egyptian mummies Smile)

I've recently been unwell and adult DD1 came to check on me when I was in bed. I was about to go to sleep and she said "I'll tuck you in" and tucked me in all the way down both sides. I felt so warm and cosy, and made me happy to think my DC must have felt like this each night. My head also felt warm and cosy inside Smile thinking that DD obviously remembered that feeling and wanted to do it for me (and that she's grown up into such a lovely kind adult)

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 10/03/2023 23:42

Also (my happy thoughts seem to revolve about bed and sleep Smile) sometimes DH will roll over towards me in the night and even though he's not actually awake he will stroke my head or cheek. He's 99% asleep so it just seems to be an instinctive thing.
