Mine is the work that the lady who comes to clean my house for two hours per week does, and to walk in to my home every Wednesday and smell the bleach and see the place sparkling is my happiest feeling.

I am a single full time working mother to three kids who to certain degrees are ND.

The joy and peace that paying that lady £25 gives me , is worth every single penny.

What's yours????

Finding exactly the right thing that solves a minor problem, eg a non-standard door catch needed for a cupboard door, or a saucer to replace one in a set that got broken.

MamskiBell · 09/03/2023 19:21

Yaaaaaasssss. They last literally weeks and look so pretty.

Thisisthedawningoftheageofaquarius · 09/03/2023 19:23

A tidy bedroom and hoovered car make me grin every time I see them 😊

Driving to work in Spring down a road of pink cherry blossom trees on either side

SweetSakura · 09/03/2023 19:35

Sitting down in an empty house with a good book, a cup of coffee and the dog by side.

With four children it's a rare occurrence Grin

A hug from. My four year old grand daughter, the greatest joy of my life.

purplecorkheart · 09/03/2023 19:42

Waking up thinking it is just before my alarm but looking at the clock and realising I have another couple of hours to sleep.

Peabody25 · 09/03/2023 20:03

When my 9yo DS voluntarily holds my hand on walks when we're out of the house 😊

namechangeagaintoday · 09/03/2023 20:12

Listening to my husband play piano.

He taught himself when trying to help our son with his lessons (who still can't play).

It's amazing.

When snow starts falling

Ponderoveryonder · 09/03/2023 20:21

I love a good drying day! Washing blowing in the wind gives me big joy 😃
That, and a great travelogue

Trainbear · 09/03/2023 20:24

Snowdrops blooming a few weeks ago, and now daffodils opening. Soon it will be lambs in the fields as I drive home, with a sunset in front of me.

I was just about to say this. Getting a full wash hung out early on a dry, windy day makes me feel all is right in the world. (Easily pleased.) I also get a lot of a joy from a hotel breakfast.

My dog, he makes me smile every day and I love him to his bones. He's still a young dog but I can see already he's going to be such good company for us all.

My garden, absolutely adore it. Needs work and new patio areas and a nice greenhouse (when I'm flush!) but I love pottering.

PillBoxes · 09/03/2023 20:48

Waking up at 6am groaning at another day down the mines, only to realise I don't have to get up at all since I took early retirement. Still getting used to it.

Finding a brilliant new podcast and/or audio book.

Hearing the birds again and looking at them finding bedding for their nests.

Clearing out the flower beds ready for more planting soon.

Baking something that turns out just right. Rare ha ha.

Being alive.

thatsn0tmyname · 09/03/2023 20:50

A really good gardening session, followed by a glass of wine.

Whendovescry03 · 09/03/2023 21:01

Going to the local independent deli to choose a really nice bottle of wine on a Friday afternoon. The wines change all the time and the people working there are lovely.

Or sitting outside our tent at the crack of dawn on a warm, sunny morning, listening to the birds and making a coffee on the camping stove.

Squidging (not even a word!) my 4 year old's chubby cheeks. He still has some baby features 🥰

I love the turning of the seasons. The blossoms when spring is here, the heat of summer arriving, autumn leaves and colours everywhere, the smell of cold air during winter.

Oh this! So much.

rubbishatnames · 09/03/2023 23:07

Lots of cock and rampant sexual abandon. Now I'm retired I fully intend to make up for all the shit sex I endured as a young woman.

OkOkWhatsNext · 09/03/2023 23:11

Glass of wine while cooking dinner.

mathanxiety · 09/03/2023 23:19

My lovely deck in summer. I fill it with all the plants that survive the winter in my south facing windows, supplemented by a few colourful annuals. I have some wrought iron deck furniture out there and cushions I bought in a thrift shop.

The hummingbirds who come to sip sugar water from the feeder I hang in the tree just off the deck.

All winter - windows full of plants, my cat, lovely warm apartment, hot water whenever I need it, lovely wood floors, books.

LaLoba · 09/03/2023 23:35

Yesterday I had this moment - if little, scared, helpless, child me could have seen middle aged me sitting at my (very pretty) desk with 3 bunnies flopped under it and a fabulous view of the coast, little me wouldn’t have believed it was possible.
I love those happy moments, when you really recognise the good stuff.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 09/03/2023 23:50

Being in agony with TMJ pain and toothache. DD7 took our shared hot water bottle as she was cold in her room. She brought it back an hour later telling me she wanted me to have it for my pain as I needed it more than her. She's so lovely.

My boy cat spooning with me if I get back in bed after taking DD to school. He snuggles right under the covers with his little feet stretched out on my pillow, snoring gently. I have no clue how he's going to react come June when he finds I've popped out a new little human who is in his spot 😂He'll probably try spoon with her instead.
