Mine is the work that the lady who comes to clean my house for two hours per week does, and to walk in to my home every Wednesday and smell the bleach and see the place sparkling is my happiest feeling.

I am a single full time working mother to three kids who to certain degrees are ND.

The joy and peace that paying that lady £25 gives me , is worth every single penny.

What's yours????

Getting closer to the day of my personal achievement- and ticking off the days as I go - the day is 23rd March 2023

Excited for you Flowers

Oh, and the hand-carved wooden mouse who sits on the top shelf of a nook in our kitchen. He was made in Germany and is called Charlemagne - I smile every time I catch sight of him.

Snailsaresweet · 08/03/2023 12:05

Hot shower every morning. I installed a shower room next to my bedroom, with a decent sized shower cubicle, and it cheers me up daily...

LeatherSkirt82 · 08/03/2023 12:16

Hearing DC laugh out loud (she's 3 and we waited for her for almost 10 years so when she laughs - its a reminder of a miracle that we even got to be her parents).

My morning coffee from my 'happy' mug. It is colourful and completely kitsch but it makes me smile every single time I pick it up.

My scented candles and much like OPs - every Thursday evening when I step into the house after our cleaner has been.

LadyMacbethWasMisunderstood · 08/03/2023 12:19

in no particular order:
chatting with the DC about life and the world
Getting into freshly laundered sheets
drinking empress grey tea from my lovely cup and saucer
opening and using a new bar of soap
daffodils in my pottery jug
feeding the birds in our garden
planting bulbs
playing card games after dinner with the DC
playing with our pets
buying mint humbugs for DH and hiding them in the glove compartment in the car to surprise him
trips to the beach - any weather
watching great pottery throw down with DH and the DC
cooking a roast for that everyone enjoys.
looking at old photographs
wearing my grandmother’s collection of vintage jewellery.

Philandbill · 08/03/2023 12:23

The smell of filter coffee before you add the water. Sitting with DH to have a coffee.

GraceandMolly · 08/03/2023 12:24

Flowers in a vase on the kitchen table.
Tidy house
Flowers in the garden.
Watching Motherland on my own under a blanket and drinking tea (kids asleep, husband on a work trip) :)

OrlandointheWilderness · 08/03/2023 12:27

Drifting off to sleep wrapped up in the arms of someone who loves me.
Walking the woofs!
Curling up with my DD on the sofa.

Driving out of the big city on the way home from work and getting to the country lanes where we live

24KaratCucumber · 08/03/2023 12:28

One which might be quite odd.. but its very specific..

We don't often get to have a takeaway, maybe 2 or 3 times a year. There's a moment just between the driver pulling up and knocking the door where my kid gets so excited it fills me with absolute joy. I could live in that moment for ever.

Spontaneous hugs from children are the best

Seeing the squirrel that resides somewhere in the school grounds running around

MovieQueen12 · 08/03/2023 12:47

I know not everyone would like it but my colleague gives me a hug every time she sees me of a morning. Nobody else hugs me. It makes my day.

PandasAreUseless · 08/03/2023 12:48
  • walking my dog and seeing her happy and knowing that I've met her needs.
  • a supermarket bunch of tulips on the kitchen table
FormerlySpeckledyHen · 08/03/2023 12:52

Going back to when my boys were teenagers I loved hearing them singing in the morning upstairs when they were getting ready for school.

Time40 · 08/03/2023 12:54

Finding that a pond has goldfish in it. My inner child loves this ("Ooooh! Fish!)

Going paddling at the seaside (for some odd reason, there don't seem to be as many paddlers at the seaside as there used to be).

supiciousminds · 08/03/2023 12:55

Hugs with my little DCs especially when they have just woken up and are still sleepy.

How excited my dogs get before a walk.

Spring bulbs.

Theoldwoman · 08/03/2023 12:57

Clean sheets, clean pjs , shower and bed.

pastypirate · 08/03/2023 12:58

Aldi foodie market peanut butter on toast with butter as well on sour dough bread. Eaten alone in silence.

reddwarfgeek · 08/03/2023 13:02

Free coffees from loyalty schemes.
Reading a book in peace.
This time of year, when you realise it's light before work and light after work.
Hugs from DD 😊

Yiayoula · 08/03/2023 13:10

Snowdrops and miniature daffodils in my garden - especially when they’re just poking their heads out from the snow , like this morning .
WhatsApp chats with the grandchildren, both studying abroad .
My (very “spirited” ) cat deigning to sit on my lap.
A hug from my husband when I’m feeling low.

Moversnotshakers · 08/03/2023 13:14

Sitting wrapped up in the garden with the sun on my face at the momement. Freezing up in north east however i have sun spot with no wind and its lovely. Im poorly with covid atm and supposed to be wfh but a tea break in the sun is lovely!!

Colourinsidethelines · 08/03/2023 13:31

Holding a new book in my hands. I love the way they feel.

A coffee when I get home from dropping the kids at school. Even better if there is a fresh pastry to go with it.

A clean house.

Sound of waves at the beach.
