Mine is the work that the lady who comes to clean my house for two hours per week does, and to walk in to my home every Wednesday and smell the bleach and see the place sparkling is my happiest feeling.

I am a single full time working mother to three kids who to certain degrees are ND.

The joy and peace that paying that lady £25 gives me , is worth every single penny.

What's yours????

On a Friday morning after my park fit class I like to go for a coffee and slice of cake and relax with a good book - the thought of this gets me to my class when it's cold and miserable outside!

My cats choosing to lie on me.

Sprogonthetyne · 08/03/2023 18:38

I just bought a pack of the bic pens that have four colours (2x boring colours & 2x pink/purple/sky blue/ green)

Professionallytorn · 08/03/2023 18:39

Daffodils, the bright yellow ones always make me happy 😊

Professionallytorn · 08/03/2023 18:39

Listening and dancing along to Love Shack by the B52's 😊

Taking my bra and make up off when I get in from work 😜

A fresh pack of highlighters and a new notebook. The creak of a new book being opened. The smell when you open up a bag of coffee beans. Jumping into a bed with fresh linen. Going outside and realizing it's actually much warmer than it looks. My step counter buzzing that I have done 10k and I hadn't even realized I was anywhere close. Any disaster movie.

Parrots that swear.

When my dog wags his tail because I have come into the room, but doesn’t look up or move.

Laying in a hot bath listening to Stephen Fry read Sherlock Holmes. I just love audiobooks full stop - being read to takes me back to childhood. Dickens, Evelyn Waugh, H G Wells, Jane Austen, etc...some authors were made to be read out loud. I also love listening to kid’s books (The Wind in the Willows, Roald Dahl, The Hobbit).

The English countryside in Spring (I mean the bits that haven’t been ruined by new build estates).

The smell of coffee.

The coloured spines of my P. G. Wodehouse books when the room is flooded with sunshine.

Random acts of kindness.

A daytime bath for me!

I have a bath every day but usually a quick one in the evening. But if my work schedule allows it or I am off that day, having a daytime bath in an empty house knowing I cannot and won’t be disturbed by my DCs give me an immense amount of joy… I probably manage one a month or every two months. Or a bath in a hotel would be a close second…

Having my day off from my diet 😊

Same. Gin, packet of my favourite crisps and a take away over the weekend.
Not a boil egg, crab sticks and salad insight😉

Watching my dog running on the beach. He’s a happy dog in general but his sheer joy when on the beach never fails to lift my spirits.

Seeing my son score a goal at football
When my dog cuddles into me
The smell in the tack room, a mix of leather and feed
Spring
Wild flowers
Spotting a squirrel or hedgehog
Donkeys

When my toddler laughs at something and turns to me, expecting me to laugh too. I love that he wants to share his experience with me.

When my baby giggles in his sleep. It’s so sweet.

maddening · 08/03/2023 19:08

I am with you op, the lady that does my cleaning, I just love it after she has been.

starlight1011 · 08/03/2023 19:09

A really strong coffee and a biscuit lol

MoonCharged · 08/03/2023 19:13

I love the run up to Christmas. Also love getting in to bed after a long shower and the electric blanket has been on. Super early so I can read and chill in heat and comfort.

Itsmyturnnow1 · 08/03/2023 19:23

Cuddles with my 4 year old boy
That first few sips of a glass of red wine
Feeling the sun on face

Gymnopedie · 08/03/2023 19:38

The robin and dunnock who land on the kitchen windowsill and tap on the window for me to go out and give them some suet pellets.

The full moon on a clear night. Last night's was stunning. I know it's only a lump of rock and dust reflecting the light from the sun, but it's still lovely to look at.

Manilife peanut butter.

Classical music, especially the romantic composers. (I like almost all of the Russian composers too.)

The garden.

Smogtopia · 08/03/2023 19:59

The day my cleaner comes
£1 daffs but especially the first bunch of the year in late jan
Halloween - seeing the children so excited knocking for sweets and it always feels (relative I suppose...) an easy / low key / low pressure event - cheap costume, bowl of sweets and an afternoon pumpkin carving and my children absolutely love it.
Book on the beach whilst the children play
Afternoon nap on a sunny day
Warm bed in a cold room
Cuddles with my children damp from their baths
The build up to Christmas and the christingle service
Being cosy at home in a storm
A cuddle from my Dad
Catching myself in the mirror on the rare day I've got make up on and feeling good
Favourite cake and tea

Ludo19 · 08/03/2023 20:05

My cats melt my heart every day with their antics, the give me no end of joy and comfort and I feel blessed to have them.
Watching my garden start to come back to life in the spring.
Clean bedding.
A nice candle burning.
The smell of freshly cut grass.
Nature in general.

Susurrar · 08/03/2023 21:10

When my son lets me give him a kiss on the cheek and we both know I’m going to chomp on his cheek like I used to when he was tiny. He still sometimes lets me though. When I’m done, he’ll roll his eyes and say “Bruuuuuh that’s a chomp, not a kiss”.

He’s 10 and all grown up. Cheeky chomp is a rare treat.

maybein2022 · 08/03/2023 21:20

Going into my baby’s room each night whilst he’s asleep and just looking at him for a minute. Will never stop being grateful for him. (Wasn’t planned after two much older children).

DiscoStusMoonboots · 08/03/2023 21:25

Coffee on the balcony of my flat on an early Saturday morning. I went through a period of a 18 months where I hated my home due to being caught up in the cladding scandal. I still am, but focussing on these small moments of indulgence helps me put things into perspective a little.

amanda08 · 08/03/2023 22:57

When my daughter who is at uni and who has plenty of close friends and a girlfriend, still rings me first with any kind exciting news. I’ve had to learn to step back this year since she left home as I want to give her the space to discover life outside the family home but it makes me all warm and fuzzy that’s I’m still the person she rings :)
