No agenda I’m just interested as Kier is on LBC this morning…

For me it’s the TWAW magical thinking, and not being convinced they would prioritise average earners, which I want to happen.

OP posts:

And 'piggy eyes' are you 12?

lljkk · 06/03/2023 20:01

Because LibDems have more chance of winning against Tories in my patch.

Anyway, if we don't have change we might as well live in a dictatorship. Personally I'd like a more benign and less toxic one

The alternative one has ‘no debate’ in it, and 1984 non-speak, and is gender identity ideology ridden.

Try to mitigate against self-ID GRCs for all and sundry now

Whereas the Conservatives want to stop your ability to protest altogether

The only thing that would stop me voting Labour is if I dropped dead before the next election. Yes, I hate TWAW, but I hate every single thing about the Tories and their corrupt cronies. I believe Starmer is a man of integrity, and his apparent lack of charisma is a positive for me.

Really? Because he comes across to me as a vacuous moral coward.

BreadInCaptivity · 06/03/2023 20:09

The utter contempt they demonstrate for the protection of women's rights.

I'll also add I'm also "over" people who suggest I (and others like me) should look at the bigger picture/consider the greater good and prioritise getting the Tory Party out of government.

That women should vote, like a turkey supporting Christmas, with a sense of self sacrifice to ensure that everybody else gets to enjoy their seasonal feast whilst our interests are butchered.

Voting for a party that has been captured by an ideology is a deeply troubling concept and one that has a much broader impact on policy and potential law than many people want to admit.

The party's susceptibility to a doctrine that defies reality begs the question; what next?

What other "concepts" are they going to buy into as a result of lobbying and a complete disregard for facts, science and wider public opinion?

Their credibility is shot.

Come the election I'm hoping we might have an independent or an SDP candidate I can vote for, or potentially spoiling my paper.

But if it shapes up to be a tough race in my constituency between Conservative and Labour, I'll be ticking the blue box for the first time in my life and I'll lose no sleep about that whatever.

Who do you like in the Conservative party then?

I didn't say I liked any of them. That's a separate issue though, isnt it?

MarshaBradyo · 06/03/2023 20:22

It’ll be interesting to compare this thread and the Tory one someone has done to emulate

I doubt there’ll be as many posting who are the equivalents to the loyal Labour supporters on this thread (and the usual tone political threads take on mn)

MistyGreenAndBlue · 06/03/2023 20:15

Not really. You will eventually have to make a choice or spoil your ballot paper. I personally think that the Tories don't particularly care about anything and certainly not women. It's just lip service.

Fairislefandango · 06/03/2023 20:33

I believe Starmer is a man of integrity.

So you believe he genuinely literally believes TWAW? And doesn't think only women have a cervix? I'm pretty sure that for dating/marrying purposes he'd be perfectly capable of telling whether someone was a woman. So he's lying. How does that show integrity?

Fairislefandango · 06/03/2023 20:34

To answer the OP though... it's the TWAW that stops me. I'll be spoiling my ballot paper, but the Lib Dems always win here anyway.

Sockloon · 06/03/2023 20:35

Exasperatednow · 06/03/2023 20:00

I live in a rural area and dont recognise pretty anything you say. Generalisations are how we've got into this mess.

Funny that because I recognise ever single point @Spanielsarepainless says.

Perhaps I walk around with my eyes open.

Hobbi · 06/03/2023 20:35

All those saying they won't vote Labour because of people on benefits vs hard workers, private school policies or because they want to protect the privileges of the middle classes are effectively saying, "I won't vote Labour because I'm a Tory". Admittedly some are aware that this is a morally reprehensible thing to be so they throw in some women's rights smokescreens or allusions to antisemitism - as if the conservatives are the champions of genuine women's and minority rights.

I don’t know why people think they know what is a smokescreen for others, it’s really arrogant.

Exasperatednow · 06/03/2023 18:55

You do realise that we're nearly about 22 months away from an election, don't you? Only an idiot would put all their plans out there for the opposition to steal. As they have already.

And they have put one out already - the green economy. I'm actually not particularly keen on labour or any party but I do know that I definitely won't be looking for reason to continue the last 13 years.

They haven't had an ACTUAL plan in the last 13 years 🙄

daisypond · 06/03/2023 20:41

I’m in a safe Labour seat in London, so my vote makes no difference. I’ve written to my MP a couple of times and never had a reply. I couldn’t vote for Corbyn. I wouldn’t vote Conservative but used to swing between Labour and Lib Dem. Now I don’t know.

BreadInCaptivity · 06/03/2023 20:43

I disagree. The Tories do care about something very fundamental that Labour have proven they do not. Winning elections.

As a result of the way the party's are structured, the Tory leadership is far less controlled by the membership from a policy perspective.

Starmer is trapped between public opinion/reality and the unions/membership in a way Sunak is not.

You imply I should care why Tories are supporting women's rights and looking at gender ideology in schools, the NHS and legislature.

I don't. I care that they are doing this.

Conversely I do care why Labour aren't doing this, because as per my previous post it highlights a huge risk re: the influence of lobby groups/membership and manipulation to implement unpopular batshit policy.

Keir,Starmer whinged ,and moaned throughout the pandemic, but didn't actually offer any helpful alternatives.

While the Government did what exactly ???

Travis1 · 06/03/2023 20:47

I find the people asking about where money is coming from, ‘magic money tree’ not planning for the future etc absolutely hilarious….I mean, have you seen how much the tories have wasted?!?

SettlingForAnotherMuffin · 06/03/2023 20:50

OMGitsnotgood · 06/03/2023 20:46

well they tried to keep people and businesses afloat with furlough and all that. Even though they knew it would obliterate the economy, and they would be curcified for it later at the polls when labor starts bleating ' but where is the money'? (Which they are already doing).

Hobbi · 06/03/2023 20:51

@MarshaBradyo
It's not arrogant to state that people are not voting Labour because they are obvious Tories. Just admit you're voting for your own selfish interests, don't pretend the Conservatives are the party of human rights. How are things at CCHQ by the way?

Well indeed, and that is my conundrum to solve
However, it has no relevance to my opinion on the character of Kier Starmer.

ArcticSkewer · 06/03/2023 20:52
