No agenda I’m just interested as Kier is on LBC this morning…

For me it’s the TWAW magical thinking, and not being convinced they would prioritise average earners, which I want to happen.

Boring people do more work than charismatic ones. I don’t need a celebrity running any political party, I want serious people who get shit done!
Definitely agree with this - no thanks to Trump or Boris like characters that some people get obsessed with and in their eyes can do no wrong whatsoever, and yes to your no nonsense boring and dull but get shit done person

Their lack of common sense over where money comes from and spending too much for the now and not thinking about future finances of the UK.

I don't trust them to reward those who work really hard for a living. The whole benefits system in this country has long been a joke, and I want to see a government who will support those who work hard.

I dislike the attitude of expecting something for nothing and this needs to be changed. The benefits system was brought in to help those desperately in need and those who received it were grateful for the help. It has now become a lifestyle choice and a way of life which is awful.

Well said,I totally agree.

Jazzy21 · 06/03/2023 13:08

They don’t seem to like women very much.

ZeldaB · 06/03/2023 13:09

The lack of a vision I admire.

The messages I receive from Labour are:

  1. We hate parents who use private schools and want to punish them.
  2. We hate high earners and want to punish them.
  3. We don’t care at all about women’s rights or even know what a woman is.
  4. We don’t care at all about children’s safeguarding.

As a parent, a woman, and a high earner who uses a private school (because state school was destroying my child’s mental health), how can I vote for that vision?

I won't vote Tory, never have done and will never do so. The choice for many who don't vote Tory is not necessarily Labour.

YouSetTheTone · 06/03/2023 13:11

I can’t vote for a party that can’t define a woman, and therefore properly make policies pertaining to my life. VAWG, legislation at work, medical matters, pension, women-only initiatives and bursaries etc.
Their disgusting inability to stand up for Rosie Duffield, refusal to condemn Lloyd Russell-Moyle for crossing the H of C to intimidate Miriam Cates…
Plus my (Con) MP is one of the ones who gets the rampant misogyny behind gender ideology and has engaged with me on the issue.

I really don't get this, everything we are seeing with the loss of womens rights/safe spaces is happening under a Conservative Govt, inc the Police and lack of action on rape, even a Police chief said recently it was regretful sex and not rape.

True, but Labour have looked at how bad things already are with the Stonewall driven self id policies and promised to make it worse by introducing legal self id.

They have looked at male rapists in women’s prisons, a 4000% increase in distressed girls thinking that removing their breasts and making themselves infertile will help them and the wholesale removal of women’s ability to speak about our rights and needs in a public space and thought “yes, this is great, we are going to do more of it”.

Only gullible turkeys vote for Christmas.

The tories have made legal self id even easier, they ve opened more nhs gender clinics... all of what you complain about is happening now, under the Tories, yet you want more.

Labour have far more female MPs than the Cons, even accounting for less MPs overall, why would these women want less rights?

the Tell tale for me is the amount of DV refuge's the Tories have shut down via under funding, 50% of women seeking to esacpe being beaten to death are turned away, murder rates of women are increasing - Who is in power?

However, i will reserve judgement until i see both parties manifesto's and policy announcements closer to the date of the GE.

Cheesecakeandwineinasuitcase · 06/03/2023 13:17

I always used to vote Tory because growing up I was influenced by the political leanings of my parents and wider family members. These last few years the wool has literally fallen from my eyes and I have vowed never ever to vote Tory again. At next years election I will probably be making a tactical Lib Dem vote. The current Tory candidate in our town has proven himself to be a complete joke and a laughing stock.

Labour cant win in this constituency so I'm voting Liberal as will many disgusted ex Tories. Sooner we say goodbye to Tories the better.

I have a functioning brain + I can remember the things the Labour Party has done in the last 30 years = understand from that where we all are on their list of priorities.

IsThePopeCatholic · 06/03/2023 13:26

The only thing that would stop me voting Labour is if I dropped dead before the next election. Yes, I hate TWAW, but I hate every single thing about the Tories and their corrupt cronies. I believe Starmer is a man of integrity, and his apparent lack of charisma is a positive for me.

FourTeaFallOut · 06/03/2023 13:28

I'm in a constituency which regularly swings from one party to another. Not that I've ever had an mp on my doorstep.

FourTeaFallOut · 06/03/2023 13:28

Or party activist, or anyone.

Saz1793 · 06/03/2023 13:28

vote for them

Shocking!! No vote from me.

NameOchangeO1 · 06/03/2023 13:35

Their failure to recognise issues around women's rights and their failure to grapple with the anti-semitism in the party are major problems for me. Why wasn't that ginger prat sanctioned for his threatening behaviour in the House?

Plus- the Tories have been an utter shambles for so long, corrupt and awful, treating voters with contempt, and they were able to do this - with impunity- because the opposition was so ineffective. If I do vote Labour it will only be because this Tory period needs to end, not because I think they can do any better, and I will have to hold my nose to do it.

Labour are committed to removing them entirely and allowing sex offenders to identify into the women's estate. They consistently either avoid the subject of safeguarding or waffle evasively rather than acknowledge that predatory men are a risk to women of all stripes and address that issue.

My local party is still infested with MC, mostly white Momentum culture warriors who wouldn't know WC life if they fell over it.

They are, to a man, absolutely experts on " what working class people need" without ever troubling themselves to actually speak to the plebs whose votes they take as theirs by right (door knocking, leafleting, talking to people IRL etc all being tasks for the boring middle aged women and minorities who should all do as we are told). I've given up all involvement as I have flashbacks to the Militant infestation of the late 80s/90s and I just don't see it changing despite all the rhetoric from the current shadows, most of whom were happy Corbynistas.

cilllla · 06/03/2023 13:45

What does Labour actually believe in? I don't know what the Tories believe in either, to be fair. No one seems to have any guiding philosophy or conviction, beyond gaining or keeping power.

I cannot vote Tory after the absolute clusterfuck they've created over the past 12 years.

I cannot vote Lib Dem because they're a bunch of weirdos who'll say absolutely anything for a vote.

I suspect Labour will give us yet more incompetence, more woke/trans insanity and more unsustainable immigration – three things I certainly don't want.

What I want, ultimately, is political parties with strong convictions and a healthy respect for the history and traditions that came before them. I would be happy for the Tories to implode (hopefully!) and for a new right-leaning party to replace them. Equally, I would like to see Labour return to supporting WORKING people's rights, and for both sides to champion free speech, freedom of association and general classical liberal principles.

Fat chance, I'm sure.

It looks like failure, but then if you track back for the last few decades it becomes clear it's a pattern of behaviour.

There's something very rotten and broken at the heart of the Labour Party that makes them prioritise whatever the "thing of the moment" is for them above the safety of women and girls.

CantStopWontStop0 · 06/03/2023 13:46

I don't like how they demonised Corbyn just to build themselves up considering how much he has given to the party.

Twilightstarbright · 06/03/2023 13:46

-TWAW
-Jewish and still scarred from what happened
-private school changes: if they add VAT I can see more children crowding into the state schools in our town which are completely full, where will these kids go?

Ive never voted Tory but Labour aren’t enticing me to vote for them at the moment.
