Peanut butter and other things we get wrong

AngelicInnocent · 05/03/2023 12:06

OK so I really like things like reeses with peanut butter in but when I have bought peanut butter and put it on bread, it's the most claggy, odd sensation and I'm sure I'm doing something wrong but what?

I'm a grown ass adult so should be capable of making a sandwich. Please enlighten me.

Also feel free to add things you need enlightenment on.

Have you tried it on toast? Seeded bread is best.

MichaelAndEagle · 05/03/2023 12:07

You have it with jam, that's the trick.
And also must be crunchy not smooth.

This. Only ever have it on toast.

Rosebud21 · 05/03/2023 12:08

Are you using crunchy peanut butter? Smooth is the IMO disgusting 😂. Every now & again I add jam to my peanut butter sandwich, delicious

OneTC · 05/03/2023 12:08

Use loads of butter and it's better with a drink

Aprilx · 05/03/2023 12:08

Yes only on toast.

DaveyJonesLocker · 05/03/2023 12:08

Butter first. Better on toast.
I make DS peanut butter and jam sandwiches but I can't bring myself to try it myself

Hohofortherobbers · 05/03/2023 12:09

Have to have jam with it on granary toast

AngelicInnocent · 05/03/2023 12:09

I've heard of it with jam (ie pb and j) but honestly haven't tried it. I was out off after trying it by itself.

Yep - either on toast, butter first.
Or bread with jam

LaFemmeDamnee · 05/03/2023 12:10

What sort of PB do you use? The Reeses filling they call a peanut butter creme and it has tons of sugar and antioxidants. If you use natural PB it wont taste the same no matter what you do. But yes to putting it on hot toast.

OneTC · 05/03/2023 12:10

Jam and butter both make it easier to eat.

I love it personally, smooth or chunky, I don't normally bother with bread I just eat it.

It's also good on celery

fajitaaaa · 05/03/2023 12:10

Try it with marmite

WeCome1 · 05/03/2023 12:10

Yeah, you need toast and butter.

AngelicInnocent · 05/03/2023 12:10

Oh so I need to get crunchy. That might be a game changer. I assumed smooth for a sandwich

Ponoka7 · 05/03/2023 12:10

I agree with adding the jam, I like the lighter flavours, gooseberry etc.

10speckledfrogs · 05/03/2023 12:10

Has to be 100 percent peanuts and on toast with a sprinkle of cinnamon - less yucky then and the toast gives it some body

Needapadlockonmyfridge · 05/03/2023 12:10

Make sure it's nice peanut butter.
As above, better on toast or wholemeal/seeded.

Whole Earth crunchy is delicious.

fajitaaaa · 05/03/2023 12:11

Crunchy is where its at

Somanymistakes · 05/03/2023 12:12

As you are in this mental space, please could you make two more sandwiches. One with sandwich spread, one with haslet.

I was crazy about them as a kid. I'd like it confirmed to me as an adult that they really are as disgusting as they look to me now.

Be brave. I'm not.

Thank you

Tayegete · 05/03/2023 12:13

It’s amazing with porridge and banana or in a banana milkshake as well.

Donnashair · 05/03/2023 12:13

The peanut butter used in confectionery isn’t the same as you get in a jar.

I agree that jam helps cut through the claggy-ness. However, I wouldn’t ever have it on just bread. It would be on toast. I find it being warmed by toast better, so only have it on toast.

AngelicInnocent · 05/03/2023 12:13

OK. Gonna give this another try then. I will invest in a jar of crunchy and apply to one slice of hot doorstep toast with butter and one slice with butter and jam.

That's my lunch sorted for tomorrow 😀

PB&J or PB with honey. Still staples for me, despite being a full-grown adult.

banivani · 05/03/2023 12:15

Top it with pickles (pickled cucumbers). The acidity cuts through the grease and the combination is great. Got it from Sue Grafton’s ABC detective novels!
