AIBU to ask for alternatives to toxic old MN

I’ve been here 15 years and just find it all so nasty and toxic a lot of the time. The witty responses have gradually been replaced by snidey bitchiness much of the time, honestly it’s so depressing. People get jumped on all the time for asking for support.

Thats before we get to the way that womens rights are treated plus the whole sex forum fiasco.

and sorry I am fed up with having dildos waved at me every time I sign on.

Nobody seems to give a shit really at MNHQ and they have a like it or lump it mentality to valid concerns.

I know I don’t have to stay here and So does anybody have any recommendations for other forums? I see a new one called FemVox has been set up and it looks promising.

I've never been on attagirls so can't speak for them but I've never heard anything negative about them.

I get fed up with the predictable opening responses from those mumsnetters who have become experts at skirting the rules.

I'm so glad I read this thread. Thought it was just another sooky thread but other posters make a look of good points that I had often considered myself.

Just because somebody wants alternatives doesn't mean they are flouncing or looking for attention. The hint is in the word innit - alternatives. You don't have to get offended on MN's behalf.

I've not seen any racism there either. I don't think it would last.

I think Attagirls is different to mumschat even though the posters on it are from MC. Maybe they left the racists behind? There is a part you have to be a member to see, so I don't really know what's said in that part;

It seems like there are accusations of racism. Then when examples are asked for the poster develops amnesia.
If it's a comment that has offended or made you uncomfortable enough to post about it, surely you can give examples. Otherwise you just look like you're telling porkies.

Some posters just stay stupid shit. Doesn't matter what site they're on imo.

The veiled racism here is more insidious and subtle than on other places. It's a shame that MNHQ don't try to moderate this stuff a bit more proactively.

The racism was enough for me to not only report but also leave. It's not at all about amnesia and it's insulting for you to say that.

The tagline is "where women's voices matter" so I'm assuming not.

I'm Australian so I lurk at a few places other than MN. I enjoy the conversations here but sometimes I'm a bit wtf at the slang terms that I don't understand.

I try to stay out of any arguments.

I prefer to be on mumsnet at night because it's quieter and there are other night owls like me around.
