Neighbours sex life

AIBU not wanting to hear the neighbours having sex several times a week?! They are not overly loud but the construction of the houses means there's little soundproofing. I'm embarrassed that I can hear them but I'm just in bed trying to sleep, I'm sure they'd be embarrassed if they knew I could clearly hear them, but what can I do?! I can't exactly tell than can I?

Put a note through the door

EmpeBe · 05/03/2023 18:44

Compete with them next time. Lots of oohhs, aahs, groans and yesy, yes, yes. They'll get the nessage and think youre a real goer simultaneously 😆

VaccineSticker · 05/03/2023 18:45

You are being unreasonable. Put up with it or move to a detached house. The sound proofing in Terraced houses in the UK is ridiculous.

MeinKraft · 05/03/2023 18:48

Stick Alexa up against the wall and play Barry White.

It's about people loving to complain rather than take reasonable steps to solve the problem for themselves.

I know exactly what you mean. I think some posters are being deliberately obtuse!

We lived in two flats that look like could have been a converted house, one neighbour use to do it every sat night. We put up with that, she moved out, and we got a noisy couple. I used to bang on the ceiling with a brush as it was midnight or after and I didn’t want my children being woken. We saw them one day they didn’t flinch and we were embarrassed to speak about it. Our landlord laughed, we ended up moving out because of that and space. You could put a note through their door.

😂😂😂

This, but 2.0 version.
Download the sound effect of an audience applauding, then play it when they have finished.

Hopefully they will twig that if they can hear you, you can hear them.

Given that it's possible to have an orgasm without screaming it is a bit selfish of them

The OP hasn’t said they are screaming. In fact she said “they are not overly loud”.

singledadstu · 05/03/2023 19:18

I would be tempted to play the mission impossible theme tune (not too loud ) on each occasion it occurs. Then see if you can get Pavlov moments - see if playing mission impossible randomly gets them going

BlondieLady · 05/03/2023 19:32

Granolaandyoghurt · 03/03/2023 23:45

Why on earth should I?!!

Because you don't want to hear it!

Lol,

FredaFox · 05/03/2023 19:39

An old neighbour, not quite opposite but same corridor was a single male
He used to get visitors at 6am in the morning it maybe 6pm at night. I would come out the lift to the loudest moaning ever, to look at him you wouldn't think twice, she must have been a good actress
Once my mum came to stay, I couldn't get her in my flat quick enough, tv turned up as loud as possible
So embarrassing

Soosi · 05/03/2023 20:39

Totally agree with Murdoch 1949.

ImSoShiney · 05/03/2023 20:41

You could yell "ride him cowgirl, yeehaw!" At the top of your voice when they get going 🤣

TTC79 · 05/03/2023 20:41

You have to play fire with fire. Do you have a partner? If not then go for it alone!

Just bang on the wall, if the walls are that thin, they'll get the hint

Middleagedspreadisreal · 05/03/2023 20:47

Move bedrooms

sandycloud · 05/03/2023 20:50

This used to happen to us. My boyfriend used to jump up and down on the bed making loaning noises. He said I want them to think we are having a better time. Not sure it worked but it was very funny.

sandycloud · 05/03/2023 20:51

Moaning noises.

Granolaandyoghurt · 04/03/2023 00:01

You weren't blessed with empathy were you 🤣 And besides I didn't ask for ideas...

You literally did. In your original post. You asked 'what do I do?'

MadMadaMim · 05/03/2023 21:02

AIBU not wanting to hear the neighbours having sex several times a week?!

This is what you asked. This is about you, not them. Ignorance is bliss. They don't need to know you can hear them

Foolishnessismyfavouriteword · 05/03/2023 21:12

I worked front desk at a large hotel for many years, and we got this problem quite a lot with guests having noisy sex. We used to ring the room and ask them to turn the television down please, as it was disturbing other guests.
maybe you could do this?

Was it easyish to know which guests were there with their affair partner vs a legitimate relationship ?

Daechwita · 05/03/2023 21:35

A quick blast of the hallelujah chorus did the trick with my neighbours.

Foolishnessismyfavouriteword · 05/03/2023 21:41

Sometimes it’s well obvious but not all the time x
