Neighbours sex life

AIBU not wanting to hear the neighbours having sex several times a week?! They are not overly loud but the construction of the houses means there's little soundproofing. I'm embarrassed that I can hear them but I'm just in bed trying to sleep, I'm sure they'd be embarrassed if they knew I could clearly hear them, but what can I do?! I can't exactly tell than can I?

That will stop when they have children. It will be peaceful then...

Hawkins003 · 04/03/2023 01:20

Then the classic, you can do it when you b and q it

@girlfriend44
Like I said previously I don't know that they are aware/ok with being overheard, THAT was my original concern, I'm embarrassed for them if they don't realise!

I would not be embarrassed about someone hearing me have sex … definitely not to the point I would purposely try to reduce my volume … sex is sex it’s normal natural and I’ll make whatever the sounds are and not worry at all …. I certainly would not be feeling embarrassed about it the volume .. however I’m basing this on a fairly regular normal sex life … not at it 5 hours a day screaming 😱

Why on earth should I?!!

You'd have nothing to complain about then would you 😂🤣

Reminds me of a stupid woman who wore skimpy summer clothes to our work place in mid winter then complained she was cold and wanted the heating turned up.

Granolaandyoghurt · 04/03/2023 01:28

@pristinesurfacesGBTD
Your comment is nonsense and has absolutely nothing to do with anything 😂

So let's imagine they DO care that you can hear them (I wouldn't).
What next?
They stop having sex?
Move out?
Wait for the washing machine to enter the spin cycle?

It might only get noisier for you though... The only time I cared about not getting heard, I used to play music to drown out the rest. But that's cause I had a creepy male neighbour and I didn't want to "paint pictures" in his head.

Sex is sex. What’s to be embarrassed about? It’s not healthy to be embarrassed over such a natural act.

Yeah it’s not great for you to hear it, but they have no need to be quiet out of fear of embarrassment.

Fgs wise up. No one wants to be sitting eating dinner thinking oh brill next door is getting a good seeing to. @Fudgemaker I have experienced this in a terrace house and lived for a while next to a woman who put on an amazing performance every night her boyfriend was around. I’ll admit to shouting SHE’S FAKING IT on one occasion when the noise from next door all evening - not a super shagging session just drunk music blasting, doors slamming general calamity. If it had been my own house and not rented I would have sound proofed my bedroom. If you can’t do that then do feel free to bang the wall

Totally insane comparison

Totally insane comparison

It's about people loving to complain rather than take reasonable steps to solve the problem for themselves.

noodlezoodle · 04/03/2023 01:45

Clear your throat loudly and say 'they're at it again' to your partner - or if you don't have a partner pretend to be on the phone and say it to the 'caller'.

Granolaandyoghurt · 04/03/2023 01:51

@pristinesurfacesGBTD
Again I'm NOT complaining, I was concerned they would be embarrassed knowing I could hear them. Please give me tips on how to be as saintly as you 😇

It’s really not. The whole tone of your post was about trying to make the OP out to be a tiresome prude. What reasonable steps can the OP take? Believe it or not most people won’t go to their neighbour’s door and say can you keep it down when you are shagging? Everyone knows when they are being loud in bed. It’s incredibly rude to not take that in to account particularly when you live in terraced housing and you can hear people next door yourself.

Granolaandyoghurt · 04/03/2023 01:56

OP maybe they would be embarrassed but in my experience more often they won’t gaf or actually get off on knowing you can hear them

It was the OPs refusal to consider moving to another bedroom.... "why should I?...." it would solve the disturbance problem. But I guess they would rather have a moan.

Granolaandyoghurt · 04/03/2023 02:07

@pristinesurfacesGBTD
As I have said numerous times it's not a disturbance issue so your argument is invalid again, There's been no 'moaning'. (Sorry for the pun 😂)

You weren't blessed with empathy were you 🤣 And besides I didn't ask for ideas...

Sorry but your exact words were "What can I do?"

Granolaandyoghurt · 04/03/2023 02:15

@Twillow Maybe rhetorical?

OP posts:
Spongeboob · 04/03/2023 02:18

I'd be totally silly with it, renaming the wifi, playing loud mood music and shouting encouragement. However, as an adult 🙄 I think I'd just have to bang on the wall and if they don't quieten down, play loud music (struggling not to choose Sex Bomb or Boombastic).
Ear plugs and a good "SHUT THE FUCK UP" maybe.

Spongeboob · 04/03/2023 02:22

Methods of Mayhem - Get Naked, or y'know something classical. They might slow down Grin

HarrietSchulenberg · 04/03/2023 02:30

My neighbours used to have very loud sex with theatrical gasps and moans and sometimes slapping noises. They did it at regular times (7am, 2pm, 10pm and midnight with an added performance at 11am on weekends). You could set your clock by them. We suspected they were live streaming due to the punctuality and volume.
They piped down after I played them a selection of recorded applause through the wall at the end. Applause was from Mixkit, if you fancy trying it:
mixkit.co/free-sound-effects/applause/
I also used it as an opportunity for my teenage boys to learn what a faked orgasm sounds like.

Round of applause when they finish?

Lol. We had neighbours like this move in, and I kid you not the whole street could hear them. And on the first night the whole street applauded afterwards. They left a year later and we were all relieved. Applause had very quickly turned to shouts of ‘shut the f up,’ and slamming closed windows etc.

The loud performers knew we heard them, and were getting off on us all hearing them.

zombie0037 · 04/03/2023 03:09

It's seems more your problem, than theirs, that why you should be the one to change rooms.
