To think if you work with people or children you should not be rude?

Why are some people rude in the work place? It’s annoying me!

I visit schools each week to work with children and often have to go in classes to get specific children. There’s a particular person who is always very abrupt and rude to me. She talks to me like I’m one of her yr 2’s. Talking more slowly, emphasising words as if I’m stupid. She never smiles and acts like I am an annoying inconvenience because I’m interrupting her! She also tries to manage when I should visit- I’m more than flexible by the way and totally get some times are not convenient (eg I avoid core subjects sessions) but it’s yr 2 who are doing painting mainly when I’m there.

I spoke to the Head and it turns out this person is not even in a teacher (I had assumed she was the teacher as she’s always quick to respond when I go into the class) she’s the TA for Gods sake! Head then laughed and said she thinks she’s actually in charge and runs the school and rolled her eyes 😂 and offered to have a word with her. (I realise this is not personal and she likes no one)

so if you don’t like people / children why would you work in this environment? I don’t get it.

You have said yourself you think the TA has no idea why you are there. How ridiculous that nobody has bothered to tell her, when she is the adult being inconvenienced by it.

Actually it sounds like a head teacher mollifying a difficult individual.

Otherwise it sounds like a deeply unprofessional head

Do you walk in like Billy Big Bollocks, full of your own self importance, interrupting the day without warning? I can see why that would annoy her.

She's just trying to do her job and here go other people arranging things that get in the way of that, yet not having the decency to inform her because she is "just the TA". She's just supposed to smile and be accommodating, to know her place, and not expect respect from her others.

That's just how you think you appear. It doesn't mean that's how other people see you. I'll bet you don't think you're coming across sneery and dripping with contempt on here, but you are. Quite a number of people see it.

So more qualified than someone with at least an Undergrad of 2.1 in Psychology, Mental Nursing or Occ Therapy, and then a Post-Grad in Play Therapy? Can't imagine what that would be?

So where is the teacher in all this? Is the TA covering by any chance? In which case she is the decision maker in her class.

That being said, she shouldn't be rude or snarky to you. If she has an issue with how things are run, or the lack of communication then she should go and talk to her lead manager or the head, not take it out on you. You have been asked into the school, at a specific time,to work with specific children and do a job.

You'd fucking hope not with that kind of nasty attitude wouldn't you?
