To ask how much your summer 2023 holiday is costing?

I know things have changed since last year but wow. Even compromising the price is still wow. To the point I'd rather pay for exactly what I want than pay so much for the compromise.

I need to get some perspective I think on whats the going rate these days. I dont like to discuss money with family and friends so would rather ask here.

Would you share if you are having a holiday, what you are paying, family size, board and term time or not so I can work out if I am BU in my budget?

@frenchfancy81

Summer is to Majorca, October is to Tenerife. Booked through TUI - we always use them.

Sceptre86 · 26/02/2023 07:22

2 adults, 2 kids, 1 infant booked for disneyland paris 5 days, 4 nights during Scottish October half term. Accommodation and park tickets £1700, flights a further £500, spending money £1000 (will include meals), character dining £230. Currently debating getting a meal plan for £800 and reducing spending money as it will then only be used for souvenirs. This is expensive for us but we haven't been abroad since before our kids were born (2015). We normally do breaks in the UK, staying at Premier inns, visiting different cities and doing UK theme parks with the kids.

Italy, 2 weeks in August - somewhere between £1500-£2000 including spending money (haven't booked yet). 2 adults, 2 children.

Organising myself rather than a package - one week staying with relatives (in the mountains) then another week either self catering or in a holiday camp (by the seaside).

masterbakeoff · 26/02/2023 07:37

Portugal all inclusive, 11 nights, 2 adults, 2 kids in mid august - £3800

DilemmaDelilah · 26/02/2023 07:43

😆😂 WHAT summer holiday!!! We have just had to spend £1,000 between us on visiting family in different parts of the country and will have to do that again... So no summer holiday for us. Before anyone asks... not holidays, bloody hard work and doing it as cheaply as possible!

itsgettingweird · 26/02/2023 07:46

£1040 SC 2 bed (twin) apt at CP (me and ds).

I use to be able to go abroad AI for £1.4k and before lockdown could only get Hb for that.

This year I couldn't get any of the same standard and equivalent holidays for less than £1.9k which is way out of my price range. And that wasn't including parking or baggage which previous years have.

We will SC. I will book ds an activity as it's his birthday when we are there and we may do pool and badminton.

We may eat breakfast out a few days or get a take out one night.

I'm budgeting £500 for the week but I'd be very surprised if we spend that as I'm not including the SC food in that cost as we'd have to buy that anyway!

BananaCocktails · 26/02/2023 07:48

I booked flights to Cyprus one year in advance with Wizz air and got two flights for £227 in August which is amazing
I booked the hotel (4star) in Jan sales half board for 2.5 weeks and got it for £900

Chittering · 26/02/2023 07:49

Corfu 2 weeks in August for 3 adults and I child. £4.5k. one week b&b on island of paxos, 1 week villa with a pool in north of corfu. I booked everything separately and got the flights as soon as they came out. I am good at holiday searching and getting the very best we can for the cheapest money but this year it was hard. Ferry and car hire will be on top and spending money. It's a special celebration blow out.

Same as the last few years for me (single parent) and my 2 kids…..4 or 5 nights camping under the stars in a rural spot, non-electric pitch, stunning scenery…. £100 approx.

Hiking by day, cooking on a fire pit and making hot chocs to drink star-gazing by night.

Kids can’t wait, and neither can I!

That sounds amazing!!!!

I'd love to do that but unfortunately my ds couldn't (physical disability) but if there becomes a day he can be left alone overnight I'd definitely be finding someone to join me doing that!

Have fun Grin

Should add that's 7 nights.

And my pool I mean the table game.

We will use the swimming pool daily - probably twice most days!

uggmum · 26/02/2023 07:58

I have a few holidays booked for this year
Feb - N Yorks, log cabin - £400
March - Mauritius for 4 -£8600
June - Sicily for 2 - £1900
July - Nice for 2 - £1000
Sept - Portugal for 4 - £2500
Dec - N Yorks, log cabin - £600

Galadali · 26/02/2023 08:03

£850 for a week in a 4 bed lux cottage in the Lake District in August. Probably double that to include fuel/food. Bloody looking forward to it though!

weatherthestorms · 26/02/2023 08:05

Renting a house with friends in France, driving, spending extra time just us and 2 kids - so about £4K I think by the time we’ve added in rental, extra hotel/B&H nights, ferry, petrol and food.

ThatsGoingToHurt · 26/02/2023 08:06

Atm we booked 4 nights at Butlins during half term for £800 including premium dining.

Also going to see friends over the coronation weekend which hopefully will enable us to nip up to London on the train.

NamelessNinja · 26/02/2023 08:09

£1800 (including a free child place) for 4* all inclusive in Lanzarote, two adults two children in May (term time)

LovedFedAndNoonesDead · 26/02/2023 08:10

14 night Canary Islands cruise end of October (sail week after half term) just under £1500. Family of 4 - 2 adults 2x 4 year olds in outside cabin, all food included but not drinks package as that would be another £1100+ for 2 of us. Will allow about £1500 for spending including drinks, days ashore and treats for children! Will
be last time we can go in term time as DCs will be at school the following year - doubt we’ll be able to afford to go abroad again.

Did 3 nights in a family room at a Surrey hotel last November for a wedding and that was £500. A week in a caravan on a holiday park in Cornwall last week of September was £370 and we spent about £350 on days out and food for the 4 of us. Would cost the same this year as they’ve kept prices the same this year to encourage bookings.

MrsRickAstley · 26/02/2023 08:14

Zero. Nothing booked and the crisis has put paid to any hopes of a break.

mnahmnah · 26/02/2023 08:18

I always knew that term time was cheaper, but these holidays are really pushing that point! So fed up of having to spend so much more for the school holidays

Blankspace35 · 26/02/2023 08:18

All inclusive in Kos in June 10 nights, 4 adults and 2 children for £5,000

whatkatydid2013 · 26/02/2023 08:22

Our holiday cost hasn’t changed much.
4 x return flights for £900, 1 week stay in cottage at centre parcs style accommodation (3 bed) £1,400, park ticket season pass& upgrade to use extra facilities at accommodation £400

The accommodation is slightly cheaper as we got a deal by early booking and the passes slightly more expensive.

We will expect to spend another £800 or so while they’re on shopping/eating out, fuel bill for the cottage, gifts for kids etc so about £3.5k for a week. I also haven’t seen a big difference looking to book this years winter city break or various individual nights away over the other holidays. Long haul flights seem more expensive and package style holidays.

CoffeeCakeAndALattePlease · 26/02/2023 08:25

We’re not taking one this year…. We did our first ever big family holiday in 2022 and have booked one for 2024. Both in October.

this year we’re just chilling at home.
