To ask how much your summer 2023 holiday is costing?

I know things have changed since last year but wow. Even compromising the price is still wow. To the point I'd rather pay for exactly what I want than pay so much for the compromise.

I need to get some perspective I think on whats the going rate these days. I dont like to discuss money with family and friends so would rather ask here.

Would you share if you are having a holiday, what you are paying, family size, board and term time or not so I can work out if I am BU in my budget?

My DH and I are looking at having a caravan holiday at Haven in Blackpool it’s costing £172 for 2 of us for 4 nights we’ve not been
on holiday since before the lockdown every time we tried something happened that meant we had to cancel staying in the caravan is going to be cheaper than 4 nights in a B&B I would love to go abroad but we just can’t afford it.

Dunnoburt · 25/02/2023 22:55

What summer Holiday 2023? 😔

ToastToastTea · 25/02/2023 22:57

Family of 4, me, dh, dd 18.and dd 15.
14 nights in a 3 bedroom apartment with pool, right on the beach near Mojacar Spain.
Car hire, flights, accommodation, insurance, parking comes to just under £3,000.
One child has special needs and we prefer to cook rather than eat out. Spending a bit more on the apartment this year as the location is amazing.

Are you equally berating private jet owners as they're responsible for over 50% of air miles alone? Or are you more concerned about plebs going to the med once a year?

Not equally, more so.
As I understand it private jets benefit from some tax breaks, an absolute fucking scandal as far as I'm concerned.

nailsathome · 25/02/2023 23:02

We have found an air bnb in rural France for £400 for the week. Very excited to actually be going somewhere!

DonnaBanana · 25/02/2023 23:03

Already at over 5k for (economy!) flights and not booked any hotels yet. But am going long haul after being stuck in the UK for the last few years

SeenYourArse · 25/02/2023 23:07

My parents home in south west Florida for 16 nights in May/June, accommodation is free but car hire and flights are around £2500 and spending money another £2500. The area is absolutely beautiful but SO expensive!

FlamingoSocks · 25/02/2023 23:07

Week in Slovenia, lovely house near a lake for a week 1700
flights 800
car hire 800
spends we will probably allocate a couple of k, but hope to come back with a bit
so say 5k
family of four

we’ve just spent 17k on 2 weeks at Disney. A bottle of water was $5. Absolutely astronomical.

Bunnycat101 · 25/02/2023 23:10

Price up the difference for the June half term versus summer. The prices were surprisingly different for some resorts.

Deadringer · 25/02/2023 23:12

We are 4 adults and a teen, spending 9 nights in malta in mid June. Luxury 3 bed appartment with pool is 2,600 euro, flights are about 1100 altogether. Booked late last year. Flights have more than doubled in price since, appartment is 50% more. Prices are shocking this year imo. We would usually go for a much cheaper accommodation but after a shit few years we want to stay somewhere really nice.

Coffeecoffeeinmytummy · 25/02/2023 23:12

2 weeks in France, one staying with family (so free accommodation), one at the seaside ( staying in a hotel). Budget about £2500-3000 for 2 adults and 2 children (including hotels, petrol, Euro tunnel tickets, spending money)

Hellybelly84 · 25/02/2023 23:19

£3.5k Greece - going before the Summer hols for 7 nights.
I looked at the same hotel not long ago and it had gone up at least £500 since we booked last year 😅

TheHillsAreAliveWithTheSoundOfMystery · 25/02/2023 23:21

@IreallyLikeCrisps you've been ripped off 🤣

Untitledsquatboulder · 25/02/2023 23:24

4 nights in London, hotel, couple of shows, meals out. Family of 4. 1.5k This is in place of a summer holiday.

MerryMarigold · 25/02/2023 23:24

2 weeks in Canada. 5 of us (3 teens). Flying Air Canada for 2,700 with baggage. I've booked accommodation from 4 different providers (Airbnb, booking.com etc)! Our total budget is 7.5k with car hire and spending money (food, excursions etc).

Busybody2022 · 25/02/2023 23:25

£220 for a spot on a field for 7 nights. The dog's kennel for that week is costing over £300!

We did do a 20k trip to florida for 2 weeks in October though

preppingforlife · 25/02/2023 23:29

2 weeks south of France. 2 adults 2 kids. £21k for the villa, + flights + food.

QuizzlyBears · 25/02/2023 23:29

IreallyLikeCrisps · 25/02/2023 22:37

3 adults 2 teens. Disney Florida 14 nights in October, flying out week before half term. Staying on site at the cheapest premium Disney hotel for 6 nights, animal kingdom lodge for 4 nights & most expensive hotel at universal studios for 4 nights. Economy premium flying out, business flying home. £30k. Park passes included but no food for the first 6 nights. Animal kingdom & Universal are club rooms so we can get breakfast there and snacks. This is a ridiculous amount of money and I have nothing to compare it to, as never done it before and I won't do it again either! Estimating £15k spending money over 2 weeks.

This would be significantly cheaper if you were flying economy both ways. I’m interested to know what you’re anticipating spending £15k (so £3k per person?) on over 2 weeks given that you have already paid for accommodation and have some food included. Souvenirs I suppose? Once you’re in the parks most things are included other than food. I’ve done Disney many times, 3 in the last year in fact, and we don’t worry about the money and just spend what we want - but even then we haven’t come close to that kind of spending per person.
