To ask how much your summer 2023 holiday is costing?

Doxxy17 · 25/02/2023 21:46

I know things have changed since last year but wow. Even compromising the price is still wow. To the point I'd rather pay for exactly what I want than pay so much for the compromise.

I need to get some perspective I think on whats the going rate these days. I dont like to discuss money with family and friends so would rather ask here.

Would you share if you are having a holiday, what you are paying, family size, board and term time or not so I can work out if I am BU in my budget?

We have eight nights booked for Sicily in June (six in a self catering apartment in Palermo and two in a fancy serviced suite with breakfast and hot tub in San Vito lo Capo). For two adults and one toddler including flights, insurance, transfers and spending money this comes to approximately £2.5k.

AllIwantforChristmas22 · 26/02/2023 08:35

£3K for very nice AI in Turkey for Easter hols, 2 adults, 2 children
£2K June half term self catering apartment (but breakfast included) plus flights to Italy, 2 adults, 2 children

circa £1k summer holidays: flights and staying with relatives in another European country, flights will be around £600 and then some spending money. Most meals will be with relatives, spending money for trips, pool entry etc. no car hire

Mulhollandmagoo · 26/02/2023 08:35

£375 for a week in June, it's a UK break - which we love and go on one pretty much every year. We are however going abroad next year for a wedding and the prices are making my stomach churn a little, I didn't realise it was so expensive 😲

LibbyL92 · 26/02/2023 08:36

I’m not married and without children. So I’m paying for myself
whoever I’m going with is paying the other half.
so

Las Vegas in Easter holidays 7 nights £1177pp

Majorca May half term 7 nights all inclusive
£900pp

Bulgaria 7 nights July (start of school holidays) £1000pp all inclusive

Morocco end of August 7 nights all inclusive
£800pp all inclusive

New york 31st December 4 nights £500pp

i always book my holidays near enough a year in advance.

I will only need spending money for Vegas and New York which will be quite pricey looking at 2500.

This sounds absolutely wonderful 😍 how do you book this kind of thing? I'm a novice at abroad holidays, do.you book all elements separately?

Invisablewoman · 26/02/2023 08:42

France, our favourite campsite, self catering in a chalet type thing -€1300 for 8 nights. Ferry on top another £700. 2 adults 2 children late August.

Been looking at a cruise in the East Med for next year but it’s £££££

Tigp · 26/02/2023 08:51

5* hotel BB Algarve - just under 4k in summer holidays.

Tigp · 26/02/2023 08:51

7 nights

DottieUncBab · 26/02/2023 09:00

£0 not booked anything yet and thinking we probably won’t, we’ve recently moved house so thinking we’ll take time off to explore the area

yhjn84 · 26/02/2023 09:12

£12,000, it was £8,500 in 2020. I will pay it though as we still really want to go, prices aren't going down so I suppose it's managing expectations and deciding if you change the holiday or up the budget (if able to of course). But I'm not going to stop going just because it's more, if the pandemic taught me anything it was that I am going to try to do what I can, when I can.

yhjn84 · 26/02/2023 09:14

@LibbyL92 where have you booked NY if you don't mind me asking? I'm hoping for c£500pp December but prices are still very high when I look.

Yet many people are struggling to afford one holiday, let alone 5 including 2 transatlantic

And? Does everyone else have to stop living because others can’t afford to do the things they can?

I am going to Hawaii, New York, Dubai all this year. Sure she cannot beat that.
I think some people are just bullshitting these tbh.

Why do you think they’re lying? We’ve got 4 booked this year. There are DC in my DDS class that will have more than that. Surely you know that some people have more money than others?

Lostinalibrary · 26/02/2023 09:24

15k for Florida in August

Stealth boost maybe. Because many people exaggerate on these boards and do not tell the truth.
Woops I am going to the moon too. I forgot to add that.

Oh dear. It must be a shit life being so bitter.

TeenTraumaTrials · 26/02/2023 09:28

10 days in Crete for 2 adults and 2 teens
Flights, s/c accom (3 bed), car hire comes to nearly 3k. We'll take about £1500 for spening
It's more than we would usually spend but not sure if its location (we usually do mainland Spain) or increased prices - probably a bit of both

I am not bitter..far from it.. but honestly I just think people exaggerate a lot on these boards. Do you really believe what you all read on the internet by strangers? Take it all with a pinch of salt.

BarkingBeachDog · 26/02/2023 09:30

So far,

London in feb - spent £240 total 2 nights
Caravan weekend - £100 March
Surrey April - 1 week £300 plus petrol and spends
Tenerife August 18 nights - 2 adults, 2 kids £1900 (4 star, budget flights)

Still got 3/4 to book. A city break, a sun holiday, another UK break, possibly a caravan park as the kids like them and either Christmas Markets or a long haul.

Expect to stay in budget of 8.5k total.

Bigmummaof2 · 26/02/2023 09:31

Was costing us £2700 for two adults and one baby. This was all inclusive plus in a 5* resort in Crete. Had to cancel in the end as we found out we were expecting and due date is for the date we go! Luckily got money back minus deposit!

I don't think anyone is lying. Why would they be? You only need to look at social media in the holidays to see how much some families do.

Skyeheather · 26/02/2023 09:32

Two weeks in a holiday cottage in North Wales beginning of July £1,600 for the cottage + petrol + food (self catering + picnics + ice creams out) + entrance fees for days out. Staying in a Premier Inn halfway there and halfway back (room + dinner + breakfast about £200.00 each way).

Two weeks in the Canary Islands in October, all inclusive £5,000.

This is for two adults and 2 DC. I expect both holidays will cost around the same.

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/02/2023 09:33

2 adults and 6yr

2w tenerife over May half term

Around £1500 sc for flights and apartment plus spending money for food /trips so maybe another £1k so about £2.5k. Gulps

Def more then what we paid in 2019 for 2020 which got cancelled 4 times and we finally went last year in 2022
